The available evidence does not establish which stainless-steel cookware sets Better Homes & Gardens (BHG) tested or named as winners. It would be misleading to attribute another publisher’s picks to BHG. For a useful comparison while that distinction remains unresolved, Good Housekeeping, Food Network, and Consumer Reports publish separate testing and selection information; none of the recommendations below is a BHG result.
What can be confirmed about BHG’s cookware picks?
No BHG article, test date, tested models, winners, or BHG-specific observations are established in the available material. The named sets below come from other publishers and should not be read as BHG recommendations.
How to compare stainless-steel cookware sets
A set’s piece count alone says little about how it will cook or whether its pieces suit your kitchen. Compare construction, cooking performance, handling, cleanup, and the actual pans included.
- Construction and heat: Check the ply or clad construction and look for evidence about heat distribution and speed, searing, simmer control, and boiling. Good Housekeeping says these are among its evaluation dimensions.
- Handling and cleanup: Consider comfort, handle temperature, and cleaning. These usability factors are part of Good Housekeeping’s reported testing approach.
- Included pieces: Match the fry pans, saucepans, sauté pan, or Dutch oven in a set to the meals you make. A larger piece count is not useful if it adds cookware you will rarely use.
- Value and durability: Treat price and longevity as distinct from cooking performance. Food Network says its testing considered performance, value, and durability.
- Budget: A price ceiling can narrow the field before you compare individual features. Consumer Reports frames its guide around sets priced at $300 or less; consult its page for the specific models and current details.
Sets named by other publishers
Good Housekeeping’s result, updated September 28, 2026, names the following sets in its categories. These are Good Housekeeping labels, not BHG picks. Its result also says the Good Housekeeping Institute Kitchen & Cooking Lab has tested more than 170 cookware sets since 2015; that cumulative count is not limited to stainless-steel sets.
