The right squeeze bottle depends on what you’re dispensing and how you’ll refill, clean, and store it. For everyday sauces in modest amounts, a standard narrow-tip bottle is simple; for thicker condiments or easier filling, consider a wide-mouth design with a configurable tip; for foodservice rotation, a bottom-fill, top-dispense FIFO bottle changes the workflow. No single format is best for every condiment or use.
How to choose a squeeze bottle for condiments
Start with the sauce’s thickness and the flow you want, then consider how often you’ll refill the bottle and how it will be cleaned and stored. Tip size affects dispensing, while opening width affects filling and access for cleaning. Also check whether the specific model is leakproof, dishwasher safe, and intended for your temperature and food-contact use.
- Capacity: Pick a size that matches how much you use between refills. Available examples range from 8 oz standard bottles to 32 oz FIFO models, but those are product specifications, not a tested ranking.
- Filling and cleaning: A wide opening can make filling easier and improve access for cleaning. Check whether the bottle has one opening or separate fill and dispense openings.
- Tip and flow: A narrow tip suits controlled portions; some tips can be cut to a larger opening. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions before altering a tip.
- Storage: Do not assume a squeeze bottle is leakproof. Verify the exact model’s closure and the manufacturer’s guidance before storing or transporting it.
Three squeeze-bottle formats and when they fit
Standard Yorker-tip bottles
These bottles use a conventional narrow dispensing tip and are available in familiar small capacities. Uline lists soft LDPE bottles in 8, 12, and 16 oz sizes with wide mouths and Yorker caps. Its listings say the tip opening can be enlarged by cutting, give a maximum temperature of 100°F, recommend cleaning before first use, and state that the bottles are not leakproof. See Uline’s 8 oz S-18124 listing for the cited product details; check the individual listing for other sizes.
Choose this style when a basic, compact bottle and familiar tip are sufficient. Avoid it for transport or storage where leak resistance is essential unless the specific product documentation confirms suitability.

Wide-mouth bottles with adjustable tips
A broad fill opening can simplify refilling and give better access for cleaning. TableCraft’s 20 oz SaferFood Solutions Widemouth bottle is LDPE and has a 63 mm opening. Its tip can be cut to 2.5 mm, 8 mm, or 18 mm; the manufacturer describes the bottle as dishwasher safe and NSF approved. These features are specific to this model, not all wide-mouth bottles. See TableCraft’s product page.
This format is a practical option when a larger fill opening and a choice of tip openings matter. Cutting changes the tip permanently, so select the opening with the intended sauce and portion in mind.

Bottom-fill, top-dispense FIFO bottles
FIFO bottles separate the filling and dispensing workflow: sauce is loaded through the bottom and dispensed from the top. Vollrath describes its Traex family as bottom-fill/top-dispense, with wide openings at both ends, several tip choices, and 24 oz bottles. Its product information describes the bottles as BPA-free, NSF-certified, and dishwasher safe; a separate listing clarifies that NSF certification applies to the bottles, not the caps. See Vollrath’s FIFO Squeeze Dispensers page and its 3316-13TT product listing.
FIFO Bottle offers models in 12, 16, and 20 oz sizes, as well as 24 and 32 oz. The manufacturer describes gravity as drawing sauce toward the dispensing valve and says the design helps reduce leftover sauce; treat those as manufacturer claims, not independent test results. It also says the bottles have dual openings for cleaning. See FIFO Bottle’s product information.

Which size should you use?
Choose capacity based on how much condiment you use before you want to refill—not on capacity alone. A smaller bottle can be easier to handle for occasional use; a larger one can reduce refilling in a busy setting but may be less convenient if the sauce is used slowly. The cited examples span 8 to 32 oz, but the manufacturers do not establish a universally ideal size for a particular sauce or household.

- Set consists of medium bottle (12 oz.) and large bottle (16 oz.) with one Thick tip and one thin tip
- Unique attached cap stays open while you squeeze for a precise pour
- Cap snaps closed for Shaking and convenient storage
- Durable, reusable bottle is perfect for oil, vinegar, dressing, condiments, syrups and drizzling dessert toppings
- Lids are interchangeable between bottle sizes
- Occasional or low-volume use: Consider a smaller format, such as an 8 or 12 oz bottle, if manageable handling and frequent fresh refills suit your routine.
- Regular use: A 16 or 20 oz bottle may provide more capacity; match the tip opening to the flow you want.
- Higher-volume service: A 24 or 32 oz option can reduce refill frequency. Consider a FIFO format if its bottom-fill workflow fits your service and cleaning routine.
Cleaning, temperature, and certification checks
Care instructions and certifications vary by product and sometimes by component. TableCraft describes its cited 20 oz bottle as dishwasher safe and NSF approved. Vollrath says its bottles and caps are dishwasher safe, while specifying that NSF certification applies to bottles, not caps. Uline recommends cleaning before first use for its cited bottles and lists a maximum temperature of 100°F. Do not transfer any one product’s claims to another bottle or its cap.

How to make the final choice
- Identify the sauce and desired flow. Choose a narrow tip for controlled dispensing or a model with a configurable opening if you need a different flow.
- Set the capacity around your refill routine. Compare the bottle sizes available for the format rather than assuming larger is always better.
- Choose the filling and cleaning workflow. A wide mouth supports access through one opening; a FIFO bottle uses separate bottom-fill and top-dispense openings.
- Verify model-specific care and storage claims. Read the current instructions for temperature, dishwasher use, certification scope, and leak resistance before filling.
