What to measure before choosing
- Space beside or in front of the seat: Measure the available footprint and check that the table will not obstruct a walkway or door.
- Seat height and table height: Compare the listed height with your seat and the position where you expect to eat. The examples above show that nominally similar folding tables can have different listed heights.
- Usable tabletop area: Think about the actual plate, bowl, cup, or snack you want to set down. A surface that fits a drink may not leave room for a meal.

Choose a compact side table if you want a separate place for food and drinks that can remain beside the sofa. Measure its full footprint and height, and confirm any claimed space-saving arrangement against your furniture rather than relying on the design label alone.
