The best smart electric kettle is not necessarily the one with the biggest app feature list. For pour-over coffee and temperature-sensitive tea, the Fellow Stagg EKG Pro is the strongest premium choice because it combines precise temperature control with a controlled gooseneck pour, scheduling, altitude adjustment, a brew timer, and adjustable hold settings. For families and general kitchen use, the larger OXO Variable Temperature Electric Kettle is more practical. Buyers who specifically want connected-home features should investigate the Breville Smart Kettle Luxe or Govee, but should verify current U.S. availability and app support first.
The important distinction is that temperature control is not the same as app connectivity. A kettle can be “smart” because it manages temperature precisely, maintains heat, or schedules heating without offering true remote control.

What makes an electric kettle “smart”?
Smart kettles occupy a spectrum rather than a single category:
#1 Best Overall
- Smart Voice & App Control: Govee electric kettle supports Bluetooth or WiFi connection, which is more stable and faster than kettles that can only be connected through Bluetooth, as the control range is not limited by distance. You can Schedule a time to boil your water.
- 4 Easy Presets & Keep-Warm Control: Govee smart kettle allows you to brew coffee and tea like a pro, with an app that lets you set your precise desired temperature from 104 °F to 212 °F. In addition, the Keep-Warm function automatically maintains water temperature for a full 2 hours. Make Electric Gooseneck Kettle your optimal brewing partner.
- Rapid Boil: 1200w quickly heats 0.8L water in only 3-5 minutes to help you enjoy a cup of coffee in no time. This electric kettle features a ready tone that beeps three times when the water reaches the preset temp, which you can turn off on the app.
- Precision Pour: The long gooseneck spout design has a powerful but precise stream for an optimal pour overflow rate. The pour over kettle's balanced body build and counterbalanced handle provide a sturdy grip, encouraging a slower pour.
- Built for Taste and Safety:Made of 304 food-grade stainless steel, Govee electric tea kettle comes with an NTC temperature sensor that automatically shuts off when the water reaches the desired temperature. The electric kettle with Boil Dry Protection will automatically shut off when the water dries out.
- Intelligent brewing controls: adjustable temperatures, presets, automatic hold, temperature displays, timers, altitude adjustment, and automatic shutoff.
- Programmability: scheduled heating, saved preferences, brew guides, custom hold times, selectable temperature units, and adjustable sounds.
- Connectivity: Bluetooth or Wi-Fi apps, firmware updates, smart-home integration, Alexa or Google Assistant support, and—on some products—remote operation.
These functions should not be treated as interchangeable. Bluetooth may work only when your phone is near the kettle. Wi-Fi can support cloud features, but Wi-Fi firmware updates do not automatically mean the app can start the kettle. Fellow’s official product information says the EKG Updater app provides Wi-Fi firmware updates but does not currently support remote control of the kettle or its settings. See the Fellow product listing for the current qualification.
Best premium precision kettle: Fellow Stagg EKG Pro
The Stagg EKG Pro is the best fit for someone who brews pour-over coffee regularly or wants fine control over tea temperature. Its gooseneck spout supports a slow, controlled stream for V60, Chemex, and Kalita Wave brewing. That control can matter more in daily use than a long list of app features.
Fellow lists a 104–212°F temperature range, 1,000–1,200 watts for the U.S. model, a 0.9-liter capacity, scheduling, altitude adjustment, a brew timer, and Wi-Fi firmware updates. Published testing also identifies selectable 15-, 30-, 45-, and 60-minute hold periods. Fellow describes its EKG and Corvo models as offering keep-warm operation for up to an hour with automatic shutoff after an hour.
Recommended Free Tools
The capacity is the principal limitation. A 0.9-liter kettle is suitable for one or two brewing sessions, but it is less convenient for four mugs of tea, cooking, entertaining, or preparing several beverages at once. A gooseneck also pours more slowly and less conveniently into a saucepan or large pot.
Verdict: Choose the Stagg EKG Pro when pour control and repeatable brewing matter more than capacity. Do not buy it expecting unrestricted remote boiling from the app.
Best large-capacity option: OXO Variable Temperature Electric Kettle
The OXO is the more practical choice for households that want temperature control without committing to a specialty coffee form factor. Its 1.7-liter capacity is substantially larger than the Fellow’s, and its conventional spout is better suited to tea pots, multiple mugs, instant foods, and cooking tasks.

Bon Appétit reports that the OXO supports one-degree adjustments from 104–212°F and can keep water warm for up to 30 minutes. Its testing found lower-temperature readings approximately one degree high, while higher temperatures were within one degree. That is useful evidence, but it is a test result under particular conditions—not a guarantee that every kettle or setting will behave identically.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe trade-off is pour control. A conventional spout is faster and more versatile, but generally less precise for slow circular pour-over technique. The OXO is therefore a better all-purpose kettle than a dedicated coffee-pouring instrument.
Best connected-kitchen candidate: Breville Smart Kettle Luxe
The Breville Smart Kettle Luxe is aimed at buyers who value a larger capacity, high power, scheduling, and reported Alexa integration. That combination can make sense in a connected kitchen where multiple people use the kettle throughout the day.
Connectivity claims are particularly vulnerable to regional differences, model revisions, app changes, and discontinued services. Verify the exact U.S. model, current Breville app support, and voice-assistant compatibility before buying. A conventional-spout design also makes it less suitable than a gooseneck kettle for detailed pour-over brewing.
Scheduling is the most realistic connected feature for many users. Voice control may be convenient, but it does not remove the need to fill the kettle, close the lid, seat it correctly on its base, and confirm that enough water is present. Higher wattage also does not by itself prove faster boiling or lower energy use.

- ADJUSTABLE TEMPERATURES & REAL-TIME DISPLAY: Designed for style, performance and convenience, the Electric Kettle has touch-screen controls with pre-programmed temperature settings that include White Tea, Green Tea, Oolong Tea/Coffee & Boil. Temperatures can also be adjusted using the + and - buttons as well as displaying temperatures in real time. There is also an audible indicator beeps twice to let you know when selected temperature is achieved.
- DUAL-WALL COOL TOUCH BODY: The food grade #304 Stainless-steel interior coupled with a cool-touch body and Borosilicate glass results in a beautiful modern design. There’s also a hinged, stainless-steel lid for easy access for filling and cleaning and a mesh filter is built into the lid to ensure an accurate and debris free pour.
- KEEP WARM feature maintains desired water temperature for up to 2-hours with auto shut off and boil-dry protection.
- BPA FREE: The Elite Gourmet Touch-Screen Electric 1.7L Water Kettle has a #304 food-grade stainless-steel interior, cordless base and BPA-free parts that heat water at the touch of a button.
- FAST, CONVENIENT & EASY: 1100 watts of power will quickly heat up to 1.7 liters of water in less than 10 minutes. Enjoy hot beverages like tea, coffee, hot chocolate or enjoy delicious soups or broth or add hot water to instant oatmeal, cereals, ramen and even baby formula without the long wait.
Compromises vary by model. Published coverage identifies less granular preset choices on some versions, faster or less controlled flow than the Fellow, slower heating in some tests, and no app connectivity. Confirm the current model number and specifications rather than assuming every Cosori kettle has the same controls.
Best premium conventional-spout alternative: Fellow Corvo EKG Pro
The Corvo EKG Pro is the better Fellow for someone who likes precise temperature control but does not want a narrow gooseneck stream. Fellow lists a 0.9-liter capacity, a 104–212°F range, a wide pour spout, 1,000–1,200 watts for the U.S. model, scheduling, exact temperature control, Wi-Fi firmware updates, and a two-year standard warranty.
It remains a relatively small kettle for general household use, so it does not solve the capacity limitation that affects the Stagg. Its advantage is versatility of pouring, not volume.
Does a smart kettle improve coffee or tea?
Temperature control improves repeatability. It lets you use the same target temperature from one brew to the next and avoid needlessly scalding delicate tea. It cannot compensate for poor beans, an inconsistent grinder, the wrong coffee-to-water ratio, unsuitable water chemistry, poor pouring technique, or incorrect steeping time.
Fellow’s published guidance places coffee around 195–205°F, white or green tea around 170–200°F, oolong around 185–200°F, and herbal or black tea around 200–212°F. These are starting points, not universal rules. Tea cultivar, processing, roast level, grind size, recipe, and personal taste all matter.
| Beverage | Useful starting range |
|---|---|
| White or delicate green tea | 160–180°F |
| Most green tea | 170–185°F |
| Oolong tea | 185–200°F |
| Black tea | 195–212°F |
| Pour-over or French press coffee | 195–205°F |
| Cocoa or cider | Around 190°F |
Follow the instructions for a particular tea or coffee recipe when they are available.

Gooseneck versus conventional spout
Choose a gooseneck spout for:
- V60, Chemex, and Kalita Wave brewing.
- Slow, circular pours and controlled agitation.
- Users who care about flow rate and repeatable technique.
The disadvantages are usually smaller capacity, slower filling, and less convenience for cooking or serving several people. Tom’s Guide recommends gooseneck kettles for coffee and conventional-spout models for tea and general kitchen work.
Choose a conventional spout for:
- Tea pots and several mugs at once.
- Filling pans, French presses, and cooking vessels.
- Fast, general-purpose pouring.
The stream is typically less precise for pour-over coffee, although a skilled user can still brew good coffee with one.
How to compare temperature control
Four specifications are easy to confuse:
- Resolution: how finely the setting can be adjusted.
- Accuracy: how close the actual water temperature is to the displayed value.
- Stability: how consistently the kettle maintains the target.
- Range: the lowest and highest available settings.
A display that changes in one-degree increments does not prove one-degree accuracy. A kettle may measure temperature at the base, estimate the average water temperature, or display a target rather than a continuously verified reading. Treat accuracy claims as manufacturer claims or attribute them to the specific tester.
Capacity: the overlooked decision
- 0.6–0.9 L: single users and one or two pour-over brews.
- 1.0–1.2 L: couples and mixed coffee-and-tea use.
- 1.5–1.7 L: families, entertaining, cooking, and multiple mugs.
Check the minimum and maximum fill marks. Nominal capacity is not always the same as useful brewing volume, and a kettle should not be filled beyond its marked maximum.

Remote boiling is less useful than it sounds
You still need to add water, close the lid, place the kettle securely on its base, and ensure the model has reliable boil-dry protection. For most people, scheduling a heating cycle is more useful than starting an empty appliance remotely.
Bluetooth is not Wi-Fi
A Bluetooth app may require you to remain within short range. Do not describe a Bluetooth-only product as equivalent to a Wi-Fi appliance that can be accessed from outside the home.
Best Value
- Smart Control: Connect your electric kettle to the app to schedule and adjust the temperature anytime. When boiled you will receive a notification. You can also voice control the electric tea kettle via Alexa & Google Assistant for added convenience.
- Versatile Infuser: The tiny hole of the infuser prevents leaf spill out. Brew loose tea leaves or tea bags with the infuser. Use it to heat water, make a coffee, or prepare food without the infuser.
- Customized Brewing Program: 4 preset temperature from 180 °F to 212 °F for green tea, oolong tea, coffee and black tea. Temperature accuracy of 1°F makes this product ideal for beginners and professionals.
- Digital Screen Display: The base has an LED screen to view target and real-time temperatures. 1500 W power heats 1.7 L water in 8 minutes and insulates for up to 2 hours. Convenient app control to adjust insulation time.
- Prioritizes Safety: Made of BPA-free food-grade 304 stainless steel for safety and durability. Auto shut-off and boil-dry protection. To prevent scaling and corrosion, wash regularly and empty after each use.
Apps can outlive—or outlast—the product
Connected features may become less useful if the manufacturer ends cloud support, changes account requirements, stops updating the app, or drops voice-assistant compatibility. The kettle should remain fully usable from its physical controls if the app disappears.
Do not assume a smart plug is safe
Many kettles require a physical button press after power is restored, so a smart plug may not work as intended. Even where it does, unattended heating introduces safety concerns. Use a smart plug only when the kettle manufacturer explicitly supports that arrangement and the safety implications are clear.
Safety features that matter
Look for automatic shutoff, boil-dry protection, a concealed heating element, a stable base, a secure lid, a comfortable or insulated handle, visible water-level markings, and appropriate electrical certification. Fellow lists ETL, FCC, CSA, and UL compliance for the U.S. Corvo EKG Pro listing.
Certification does not make careless use safe. Never operate an empty kettle, do not exceed the maximum fill line, keep the base and electrical contacts dry, and keep a heating kettle away from children and pets.
Cleaning, limescale, and water quality
Mineral buildup can slow heating, interfere with temperature sensing, leave flakes in water, create off-flavors, and shorten service life. Stainless-steel interiors are durable; glass bodies make the water level visible but show deposits more readily. A removable filter, a wide opening, and an interior that is easy to wipe can matter more than an extra preset.
Use only the cleaning and descaling method approved for your exact model. Vinegar, citric acid, and other cleaners are not universally safe for every finish, seal, filter, or sensor. Clean the lid and spout as well as the chamber, and dry the base before reconnecting it to power.
Warranty and long-term ownership
Before buying, check the warranty for your country and exact model, whether registration is required, and whether replacement filters, lids, seals, and bases are available. Also consider whether the kettle remains useful without an account or app.
Bon Appétit lists a two-year warranty for the Fellow Stagg EKG Pro and notes that registration may extend it to three years. Terms can vary by country, retailer, model edition, and registration status.
