The best robotic pool vacuum depends on your pool, not on the longest feature list. For most in-ground pool owners, the Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus is the practical value choice, while the Dolphin Premier is the better corded upgrade for filtration and waterline cleaning. If you want cordless, near-automatic coverage of the floor, walls, waterline, and surface, the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra is the premium option. The Aiper Scuba S1 is a more affordable cordless alternative for lighter-duty cleaning.

The Dolphin family is the conservative choice for buyers who value an established robotic-cleaner brand and service ecosystem. Confirm the current model-year filters, included accessories, price, and warranty on the specific product page or through an authorized dealer; Maytronics warranty terms vary by model and market.
Best premium cordless: Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra
The AquaSense 2 Ultra is the strongest candidate for buyers who want one cordless system to handle the submerged pool and floating debris. Beatbot lists five-in-one operation: floor, walls, waterline, surface cleaning, and water clarification. It also lists HybridSense AI mapping, obstacle detection, adaptive path planning, app control, and one-click poolside parking.
Beatbot specifies up to five hours for floor cleaning, up to five hours for walls and waterline cleaning, up to 10 hours for surface cleaning, and a 4.5-hour full-charge time. These are “up to” manufacturer figures and apply to different operating modes; they do not prove that a large pool can receive complete submerged coverage on one charge.

The official pages showed promotional prices of $2,299 and $2,499 against listed reference prices of $3,150 on August 18, 2026. Treat those figures as date-specific sale prices, not stable MSRP. Beatbot’s warranty policy lists 36-month main-body coverage for the Ultra, while consumable parts such as filters and roller brushes have shorter coverage.
This is excessive for a small, simple pool. It is more compelling for a complex pool, a pool surrounded by trees, or an owner who places a high value on cordless deployment and automated retrieval. The manufacturer also qualifies step cleaning: steps must be sufficiently wide and the water depth must exceed 1.31 feet.
Best midrange cordless: Beatbot AquaSense 2 Pro
The AquaSense 2 Pro sits below the Ultra and is positioned by Beatbot as a cordless cleaner for the floor, walls, waterline, and surface. Its official comparison materials list fewer advanced navigation and debris-detection capabilities than the Ultra, making it worth considering when you want broad coverage without paying for every premium feature.
One official page showed a price of $1,899 against a $2,299 reference price on August 18, 2026. Verify the current price, included filters, charging equipment, pool-size rating, and warranty before purchase. The Pro is a poor fit if unlimited operating continuity is more important than avoiding a cable; a corded cleaner may be the more practical choice.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteBest budget cordless: Aiper Scuba S1
The Aiper Scuba S1 is a reasonable budget-oriented cordless candidate for weekly maintenance in a small or medium pool with moderate debris. Aiper’s U.S. promotional page showed $499.99 against a listed $699.99 reference price on August 18, 2026.
Its appeal is simple: no floating cable and a lower entry price than premium cordless systems. Before buying, confirm the exact pool-size limit, wall and waterline capability, battery replacement process, filter availability, and warranty exclusions. It is not the obvious choice for a very large pool, severe leaf loads, or buyers who prioritize the longest-established service infrastructure.

Best above-ground candidate: Polaris P70
The Polaris P70 is identified by Bob Vila as an above-ground recommendation. Above-ground pools have different wall geometry from most in-ground pools, so compatibility matters more than a generic claim that a cleaner “climbs walls.” Confirm that the exact P70 configuration suits your liner, wall angle, floor shape, and water depth.
For a simple above-ground pool, an in-ground cleaner with advanced mapping may add cost without adding useful capability. If the P70 is unavailable in your market or does not match the wall geometry, compare the manufacturer’s current above-ground models rather than assuming an in-ground robot will work equally well.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Best fine-debris candidate: Wybot C2
Bob Vila identifies the Wybot C2 as a fine-debris pick. This category is useful for pools affected by sand, pollen, dust, or silt, but a fine filter can clog faster when the pool also contains leaves.
Check whether the fine filter is included, how quickly it can be rinsed, whether the basket remains accessible when loaded, and whether replacement filters and batteries are sold directly. A “fine debris” label is not the same as a published, independently verified micron test.
Best high-end corded alternative: Polaris VRX iQ+
The Polaris VRX iQ+ is worth considering for a large in-ground pool where uninterrupted operation matters. Wired highlights its performance and cable-management features. A corded design avoids battery downtime and can be better suited to repeated cycles or heavy debris, even though it is less convenient to deploy and store.
Its trade-offs are the cable, the need for an appropriate power setup, and a potentially higher purchase price. Compare its filter access, cable length, swivel or anti-tangle design, replacement parts, and exact warranty with a Dolphin before deciding.
Corded versus cordless: the practical decision
Choose corded when:
- Your pool is large or receives heavy leaf fall.
- You need multiple cleaning cycles without waiting for a recharge.
- You prefer established designs and simpler operating systems.
- You clean infrequently or seasonally and do not want battery aging to limit capacity.
Choose cordless when:
- Your pool is small or medium and normally has light to moderate debris.
- You strongly dislike floating cables and cable storage.
- You value automatic parking, app control, or quick frequent cleaning.
- You have confirmed that the robot can finish the required floor, wall, and waterline work before recharging.
“Cordless” is not automatically an upgrade. A corded robot can be the better construction for a large pool because it operates continuously. Conversely, a cordless robot can be easier to live with in a compact pool where a cable would be more nuisance than benefit.
What to check before buying
- Pool type and size: Confirm above-ground or in-ground compatibility, maximum area, depth, and whether the rated area can be completed in one battery cycle.
- Surface: Verify compatibility with vinyl, fiberglass, plaster, pebble, or tile. Do not assume traction on one surface transfers to another.
- Geometry: Measure steps, benches, tanning ledges, coves, drains, ladders, and sharp transitions. A wall-climbing robot may not cross a shallow shelf or clean a narrow step.
- Coverage: Treat floor, wall, waterline, and surface cleaning as separate capabilities. Wall climbing does not guarantee waterline cleaning.
- Debris: Use a large-debris basket for leaves and a fine filter for sand, pollen, and silt. Determine whether both are included or sold separately.
- Saltwater: Confirm saltwater compatibility in the exact model documentation; corrosion-resistant materials alone are not sufficient evidence.
- Parts and warranty: Look for replacement filters, brushes, tracks, batteries, impellers, and power supplies before purchase.
- Safety and storage: Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the power supply, charging, removal before swimming, drying, winter storage, and chemical exposure.
Filtration matters more than most feature lists
Robotic cleaners typically scrub surfaces and draw loosened debris into an onboard basket or filter. Standard baskets are useful for leaves, insects, and larger debris. Fine or ultra-fine filters are better suited to sand, silt, pollen, and dust, but they generally need more frequent rinsing and can clog quickly under heavy leaf loads.
Top-loading baskets are usually easier to empty without spilling debris back into the pool. Also check basket capacity, whether the filter can be rinsed clean, and whether a full filter restricts performance. Beatbot markets multiple filter configurations and an anti-blockage, self-flushing design for the AquaSense 2 Ultra; those remain manufacturer claims rather than independent proof of superiority.

Why “AI” does not guarantee better cleaning
Robots may use random movement, pattern navigation, gyroscopes, obstacle sensors, cameras, or map-based path planning. These features can reduce missed areas and improve convenience, but none guarantees complete coverage. Narrow coves, steps, ladders, raised drains, tanning shelves, tight corners, and unusual shapes can still defeat a sophisticated navigation system.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Beatbot describes the Ultra’s mapping and obstacle-detection system as HybridSense AI. Consider that a specification, not a performance verdict. Independent testing is more useful when it explains the pool shape, surface, debris load, number of cycles, and testing duration. The Pool Nerd says it has tested more than 37 robotic cleaners; Bob Vila reports testing more than 40 overall and more than 10 new models for 2026. Those claims provide context, but neither should be treated as proof that one model is best for every pool.
Cleaning situations that change the recommendation
Heavy leaves
Remove very large debris first, choose the largest suitable basket, and avoid relying on a small cordless robot under dense tree cover. A separate surface skimmer may be necessary because a submerged cleaner does not remove floating leaves. Beatbot markets the iSkim as a solar-powered surface cleaner with a nine-liter basket and up to 28 hours of surface operation; these are manufacturer specifications.
Sand, pollen, and silt
Prioritize fine filtration, easy rinsing, and replacement-filter availability. Clean fine filters promptly so captured material does not harden in the media.
Algae
A robot can collect loosened algae and debris, but it is not an algae-treatment system. Chemical balancing and mechanical brushing remain necessary when algae is attached to surfaces.
Steps and ledges
Measure the width, depth, transition angle, and water depth over each ledge. Do not infer step cleaning from a general full-coverage claim.
Large or irregular pools
Consider a corded model or a cordless cleaner with enough practical runtime for the complete route. Advertised square footage does not account fully for wall climbing, waterline work, debris load, or irregular geometry.
Maintenance and ownership
- Empty and rinse the filter after every cycle.
- Rinse fine filters immediately after use.
- Remove hair, string, and debris from brushes, wheels, tracks, and impellers.
- Dry the robot before charging and keep the charging base and power supply dry.
- Store the cleaner out of direct sunlight and winterize it according to the manual.
- Keep firmware and app software current when applicable.
- Check the price and availability of replacement brushes, filters, batteries, tracks, and power supplies before committing.
Battery aging is a particularly important cordless ownership issue. Find out whether the battery is replaceable, whether the manufacturer sells it directly, what replacement costs, and whether the warranty covers only defects rather than normal capacity loss.
Alternatives to a robotic cleaner
A telescoping pole and manual vacuum cost less initially but require labor. Suction-side cleaners can be economical but use the pool’s filtration system. Pressure-side cleaners can handle larger debris but may require compatible plumbing or a booster pump. A separate surface skimmer complements, rather than replaces, a submerged floor cleaner. Professional service costs more but can also cover chemical balancing, inspections, and difficult cleanup.
