Choose a holder by where it will go
Start with the mounting method and the furniture or surface involved. An organizer that works on one sofa may not stay put on another, and a wall-mounted holder requires a suitable surface as well as a remote that fits.

Slip-under-seat caddies: capacity without pin holes
These fabric organizers drape over an arm, with an end held beneath the seat cushions. Wayfair lists the Costyle Remote Control Holder as a five-pocket fabric organizer measuring approximately 35 by 13 inches; its instructions say to tuck an end beneath the cushions. The retailer also describes the Ebern Designs Sofa Armrest With 5 Pockets Holder Organizer in a 13-inch width with five pockets or a 19-inch width with six, and lists its length as 33 inches. Its listed uses include remotes, glasses, phones, and tablets. These dimensions and descriptions come from retailer listings, not a comparative fit test. Because these caddies rely on the seat to hold them, check whether the end can tuck far enough beneath your cushions and whether the organizer will lie flat along the arm. This approach avoids pin holes, but the listing dimensions alone cannot establish how well a particular caddy fits your sofa.

Pin-on caddies: attached directly to upholstered arms
Primpins says its Performance Poly Armrest Caddy attaches with six short upholstery pins. Its listed dimensions are 24 by 19 inches, with two large rear pockets and four smaller front pockets. The seller describes its material as double-layer, machine-washable 100% polyester upholstery fabric. Those are vendor specifications, not an independent durability assessment. The seller’s product copy says, “Simply twist the pins on to secure in place. Twist the pins off to remove your caddy.” Pins may help secure the caddy, but they pierce upholstery. One customer review reports that the tacks held and that the reviewer had not expected holes; this is one person’s experience, not a general test. Primpins product page.
Tabletop caddies: no furniture attachment
A freestanding caddy avoids draping fabric over an arm or attaching anything to upholstery. The seller describes the Skandinavious Cream White Wool Felt Remote Control Caddy as handmade in Sweden from 5 mm pure wool felt, with leather toggles. Its approximate internal dimensions are 10 by 4.5 by 3 inches, and the listing says it fits remotes up to about 9.75 inches. That makes actual remote length important: measure your longest remote and compare it with the stated fit. The listing was marked sold out when inspected, so current availability needs checking. Kikkerland’s Sofa Pocket is another surface-independent option designed to sit alongside a sofa. The brand describes it as a pocket for remotes, magazines, and other items, made of polyester and cardboard, with dimensions of 83 by 27 cm. Its page does not state a pocket count or a remote-size limit. Kikkerland product page.
Wall-mounted holders: move storage off furniture
Superior Electronics’ datasheet for model SUPSTV024 describes a two-piece plastic set measuring 12.5 by 11.1 cm, with a stated load capacity of 2 kg. It includes screws, plugs, and adhesive strips. The datasheet does not establish which installation method will suit every wall or finish, so check the surface and mounting instructions before installing. Measure the remote against the holder as well; the listed outer dimensions do not establish the usable interior size. The datasheet does not state a publication year. Superior Electronics datasheet.

Check fit, capacity, and installation before buying
- Measure the furniture or mounting surface. For an armrest caddy, check the arm width and whether the end can tuck beneath the seat cushions. For a tabletop organizer, confirm that the intended surface has room. For a wall holder, confirm that its dimensions and installation method suit the location.
- Measure your remotes. Compare the longest remote with the holder’s internal dimensions or stated fit, not just its outside measurements. The examples range from a tabletop caddy with an approximately 10-inch internal length to fabric armrest organizers listed at about 33 to 35 inches long; those figures describe different products and are not interchangeable measures of capacity.
- Count what needs storing. Pocket layout matters as much as the headline pocket count. The cited armrest examples offer five pockets, five or six pockets depending on width, or a layout of two large rear and four smaller front pockets. A freestanding caddy may instead have a compact internal compartment; check the listing for its actual layout.
- Decide whether you will store more than remotes. Retailer or brand copy describes some organizers as suitable for glasses, phones, tablets, magazines, or other items. Check pocket size and layout for those objects; a general use description does not guarantee that a particular item will fit.
- Weigh attachment against surface impact. Slip-under-seat designs avoid pins but depend on the cushions. Pin-on designs attach to upholstery by piercing it. Wall holders may use screws and plugs or adhesive strips, so choose only a method appropriate to the mounting surface.
- Check material and care details. Use the seller’s stated material and wash-care information when comparing options. Material names alone do not establish how long a holder will last.
What the product listings can—and cannot—tell you
Retailer, seller, and manufacturer pages provide useful specifications, such as dimensions, pocket counts, materials, included hardware, and a stated load capacity. They do not establish which holder is most durable, easiest to use, or best overall. The available product information does not include a controlled side-by-side test, and one customer review cannot substitute for one.
Availability and listing details can change. The Costyle page reported a $17.99 price and out-of-stock color variants when inspected; those are volatile listing details, not a lasting recommendation. Check current inventory and price directly before purchasing. The examples here are current product-page references and do not establish which holders were best in 2024.
