Published specifications can help compare brightness, runtime, controls, and mounting, but they are not a controlled test establishing one best light for every kitchen.
Choose by the job: counter lighting or hands-free storage light
For a counter or work surface: consider a light bar
A longer bar spreads light across a wider stretch of counter than a small puck, making it the more relevant shape to compare when you want steady illumination for a work surface. The Feit Electric 12.5-inch bar is specified at 320 lumens and 4000K, with adjustable brightness and a timer that switches it off after two minutes. Feit lists up to nine hours of continuous use. Feit’s 14.5-inch bar is also listed at 320 lumens and 4000K, with adjustable brightness, a timer mode, and up to 8.5 hours of continuous use. The listings do not establish that either bar will provide enough light for every food-preparation task: output and placement matter, and a rechargeable fixture should not be assumed to replace a full task-lighting system. For a pantry or cabinet: consider a motion-sensing puck
A puck can suit a small area that needs light only when someone opens a cabinet or enters a pantry. Feit lists its 3-inch rechargeable puck at 100 lumens and 3000K. In automatic mode, it switches off 15 seconds after motion ends. That hands-free operation suits intermittent access better than leaving a counter light on for extended work. Compare brightness and color temperature
Lumens indicate the amount of light a product is specified to produce; color temperature describes whether that light appears warmer or cooler. The cited Feit bar listings specify 320 lumens at 4000K, while the Feit puck is listed at 100 lumens at 3000K. The bar’s higher listed output and longer format make it the closer candidate for a work surface; the puck’s lower output and motion operation fit a small, intermittently used space. These figures describe particular products, not a category-wide standard or a promise about how bright a fixture will feel in a given installation.

Read runtime figures in context
Continuous runtime and motion-mode duration describe different kinds of use. A light left on continuously consumes its charge differently from a sensor light that turns on only when it detects motion. In particular, a claim of “up to 60 days” in automatic mode is not equivalent to 60 days of continuous illumination.

Costco’s Energetic listing also shows why brightness settings matter: its stated runtime rises from up to 12 hours at 150 lumens to up to 50 hours at 15 lumens. The listing specifies a 3.7V, 1800mAh battery. These are retailer-published product figures, not standardized test results or directly comparable measurements against Feit’s lights. - Installation: The puck listing describes adhesive or screw mounting. Consider the surface and how often you expect to remove the light before settling on a mounting method.

A practical selection checklist
- Choose a bar if you need a more continuous band of light across a counter; check the listed output and whether the proposed placement suits the work you do.

- Compare runtime only at the stated brightness and operating mode. Treat “up to” as a product-page maximum, not a guaranteed result in every home.
- Confirm the model identifier and package. Similar product names do not ensure identical runtime specifications.
- Check how the light mounts, whether it can be removed without undoing its mount, and how it recharges; those choices affect the effort involved in routine charging.
