Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →If you want a food processor that is less grating during meal prep, Consumer Reports names the 14-cup Cuisinart Custom 14 DFP-14BCNY one of the quietest models it has tested. That is a comparative lab finding, not a promise of silence: Consumer Reports says all the processors it tested were noisy. Its smaller 7-cup Cuisinart Pro Classic DLC-10SY also earned a strong noise rating and performed well at chopping and slicing.
What “quiet” means for a food processor
Food processors use powerful motors and fast-moving blades, so “quiet” is best understood as quieter relative to other tested machines—not silent or unobtrusive in every kitchen. In its March 20, 2026 roundup, Consumer Reports says all the food processors it tested were noisy, though some sounded more grating than others. Its lab evaluates noise alongside food-preparation performance.
The accessible roundup does not give a model-specific decibel reading for either Cuisinart below. The recommendations therefore reflect Consumer Reports’ comparative ratings and descriptions, not a sound-level figure you can use to predict how loud a machine will seem in your home.
Quiet food processors to consider
| Model | Capacity and power | What Consumer Reports says about noise | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cuisinart Custom 14 DFP-14BCNY | 14 cups; 720 watts | One of the quietest models Consumer Reports has tested; no model-specific dB figure is stated in the accessible roundup. | People who want full-size capacity and a strong comparative noise-test result. |
| Cuisinart Pro Classic DLC-10SY | 7 cups; 600 watts | Strong noise rating; no model-specific dB figure is stated in the accessible roundup. | People who prefer a smaller bowl and want strong chopping and slicing performance. |
Cuisinart Custom 14 DFP-14BCNY: best full-size pick
Consumer Reports describes the 14-cup, 720-watt Custom 14 as “one of the quietest models we’ve tested.” The outlet credits Keith Flamer as the writer and Elias Arias with lab testing. Its capacity makes it the more suitable of these two choices for larger batches, while its noise standing gives noise-conscious shoppers a reason to shortlist it. The published description does not establish a particular decibel level or guarantee a quiet experience in a specific kitchen.

- Built-in bowl scraper saves time. Quickly process ingredients without stopping to use a spatula. Simply move the scraper from side-to-side to scrape the bowl while the food processor is running or the power is off — no need to remove the lid.
- Slice, shred, chop, mix and puree with 2 versatile attachments. The Hamilton Beach food processor gives you 5 processing functions and includes a stainless steel slicing/shredding disc and chopping/pureeing blade so you can tackle every job with ease.
- Powerful 450 watt motor. Make healthy salads, homemade salsa, hearty acai bowls and more. The 450 watt motor easily powers through the toughest ingredients, so you can spend less time processing and more time enjoying.
- Precise control with 2 speeds plus pulse. The low and high speeds plus pulse give you the control you need for a variety of recipes. Use the high speed when you need more power and select the low speed for processing or mixing delicate foods.
- 10 cup bowl capacity. The generous 10 cup bowl fits large volumes of food all at once, and the large feed chute saves you time by reducing the need to pre-cut food before processing or using as a vegetable chopper.
Consumer Reports lists the warranty as three years for parts and five years for the motor. Those terms are useful to weigh alongside the noise rating, but they do not explain or predict how loud the machine is.
Cuisinart Pro Classic DLC-10SY: smaller-bowl alternative
The 7-cup, 600-watt Pro Classic is a smaller-capacity option with a strong noise rating in the same Consumer Reports roundup. It also rates strongly for chopping and slicing, making it a plausible fit for routine prep when a 14-cup bowl would be more machine than you need. Consumer Reports does not call it the quietest model, and the accessible roundup does not provide a decibel reading.

Match bowl size to the food you prepare
Consumer Reports says the full-size processors it tests range from 2 to 16 cups. Bigger capacity can help with substantial batches, such as chopping vegetables for a pot pie filling, but may be inconvenient for small amounts of garlic, herbs, or nuts. For those jobs, the outlet suggests considering a food chopper; the available information does not establish that a chopper will be quieter.
Before choosing, consider how much you typically process at once and which jobs matter most. Consumer Reports evaluates processors on tasks including chopping, grating, puréeing, shredding, and slicing, as well as noise. Its food processor ratings database is the place to compare performance ratings when you have access.

- Consider the Pro Classic if a 7-cup bowl suits your routine better and chopping and slicing are priorities, while still taking its strong noise rating into account.
