1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor US buyers, start with a local salvage yard or ReClaim when pickup and inspection matter. Choose Unbuilt for nationwide shipping and a stated return window, and use specialist dealers such as Brick + Board (now ALMANAC) for curated wood and brick in the Baltimore area. In the UK, begin with The Reclaimed Company and SalvoWEB, then compare stock at nearby reclamation yards. The right source depends on location, material, matching requirements, transport, and whether the item is genuinely reclaimed, surplus, showroom, open-box, or consignment stock.
Choose the source that fits your project
No single marketplace is best for every reclaimed-material purchase. A few hundred bricks for a local repair should be sourced differently from a full flooring order, a period fireplace, or a pallet of architectural salvage that must cross the country. Use the table to narrow the search before you contact a seller.

Start with a local salvage yard when inspection and freight are the risks
Local yards are usually the most practical first stop for brick, stone, timber, slate, doors, windows, and fixtures that are expensive or vulnerable to damage in transit. You can compare pieces in person, check dimensions with your own tape measure, sort a mixed lot, and arrange loading that suits your vehicle. Local pickup also makes it easier to buy extra pieces from the same batch for future repairs.
Use SalvageYardFinder to build a local call list. Its US map covers architectural salvage yards, reclaimed-wood dealers, building-material reuse stores, and Habitat ReStore locations. Treat the map as a discovery tool rather than proof that a particular item is in stock: inventory, opening hours, and delivery services must be confirmed with each yard.

Use ReClaim for category-filtered local and regional sourcing
ReClaim describes itself as “The professional marketplace for reclaimed building materials.” Its browse categories cover the materials most construction and renovation projects need, including Wood & Lumber, Brick & Masonry, Windows, Doors, Lighting, Fixtures & Hardware, Plumbing, Tile, and Tools. Pickup and delivery filters help you separate a nearby lot from an item that can be transported to the jobsite.
The wanted board is useful when a project has a narrow specification—such as a particular brick size, a run of matching boards, or a period fitting—and normal search results are too broad. State the required dimensions, quantity, acceptable variation, location, and deadline in the request. Sellers can then respond with a closer match than a generic keyword search would produce.
Choose Unbuilt when online breadth and shipping coverage matter
Unbuilt reports more than 4,200 items for sale and 51 curated collections in 2026. Its catalog spans building materials, tile and stone, lighting, kitchen and bath, doors and windows, appliances, décor, architectural salvage, reclaimed wood, and flooring. It also reports shipping to all 50 states and 30-day returns on items sold by Unbuilt.

Those figures describe the marketplace at the time reported and can change. A return window does not remove the need to verify that a heavy or fragile item can be economically shipped back.

Unbuilt also reports an average 54% discount from retail on pre-owned new items. That is the vendor’s claim for that product category, not a guaranteed discount on reclaimed material and not a measure of authenticity. Compare the landed cost and condition with local salvage stock before treating the percentage as a saving.
Use Brick + Board, now ALMANAC, for curated Baltimore-area material
The specialist formerly identified as Brick + Board states on its official page, “Brick + Board is now ALMANAC!” The Baltimore location at 2507 N Howard St lists architectural salvage, reclaimed wood, and reclaimed brick. It is open by appointment, so contact the business and verify the current name, hours, and available stock before travelling.
A specialist dealer can be a better fit than a broad marketplace when appearance, period character, or a coherent batch matters more than the lowest listing price. Ask whether the wood or brick comes from one source, how much matching stock remains, and whether pieces have been cleaned, cut, or otherwise altered.

The Reclaimed Company for UK-wide listings and a physical York yard
The Reclaimed Company connects buyers with reclamation yards, salvage businesses, contractors, merchants, and private sellers. Listings may include reclaimed bricks, stone, timber, doors, fireplaces, radiators, paving, and other architectural salvage. Because stock is supplied by different sellers, read each listing as its own transaction and confirm who is responsible for loading, delivery, and any return arrangement.

- RECLAIMED WOOD ACCENT: Real reclaimed and recycled wood, naturally-weathered wood paneling adds a beautiful, rustic accent to your walls
- Each plank is approximately 1/4-inch thick and 3.50 inches wide, lengths may vary by box, sample pack - 12" long
- NATURALLY WEATHERED COLOR: Each piece of wood has aged individually, providing varied, weathered colors that look great on any wall
- EASY INSTALLATION: Easily installs utilizing construction adhesive or trim nails; Calculate square footage by multiplying height x width, example 10'x10' = 100 square feet, 2'x4' = 8 square feet
- Each box has a different coverage amount based on square footage, order accordingly, let us know if you need help to calculate how much you need
Its York yard carries changing stocks of roof tiles, slate, chimney pots, bricks, stone, timber, and architectural salvage for collection and delivery. “Reclaimed materials naturally vary in age, dimensions and condition,” the company states. That variation is a specification issue, not merely a cosmetic one: measure enough pieces to establish the actual range before ordering a quantity for a wall, floor, roof, or opening.
SalvoWEB for directories, wanted alerts, and period components
SalvoWEB combines a marketplace with a directory of salvage yards, wanted alerts, demolition items, and Salvo Code member verification. It is especially useful when a project needs a hard-to-match period component, such as a particular fireplace, door profile, paving type, or architectural fitting. Use the directory to identify a specialist seller near the project, then ask for current photographs and measurements rather than relying on an old listing.
How to buy reclaimed wood, brick, or fixtures without expensive surprises
- Write a material brief. Record the exact dimensions, profile, species or finish if known, quantity, intended use, acceptable variation, delivery postcode, and required date. For brick or flooring, state the coverage required as well as the nominal piece count.
- Separate appearance requirements from performance requirements. Decide whether you need a consistent colour and profile, visible wear, a particular period, or simply a serviceable component. Structural, roofing, fire-safety, and other regulated uses require a competent professional’s assessment and specification.
- Shortlist by geography and fulfillment. Call nearby yards first when the material is heavy, fragile, or likely to need hand selection. Use ReClaim’s pickup and delivery filters for local US searches, Unbuilt for a nationwide online search, and The Reclaimed Company or SalvoWEB for UK-wide options.
- Request evidence of condition. Ask for current photographs that show cracks, spalling, rot, corrosion, delamination, distortion, previous alterations, and the backs or fixing points that will be hidden after installation. Request a photograph with a tape measure when dimensions are critical.
- Confirm batch consistency. Ask whether all pieces came from one building or production batch. If the seller has several lots, find out how they differ in colour, thickness, profile, finish, and wear. Buy enough from the best-matching lot before it disappears.
- Calculate the landed cost. Add the item price to preparation, sorting, loading, palletization, delivery or freight, unloading, and any equipment needed at the site. A low listing price can become uneconomic when a pallet requires special handling or a fragile fixture needs protective packing.
- Allow for selection and wastage. Reclaimed batches can include pieces that are unsuitable for the visible installation. Order additional material for sorting, cutting, breakage, and future repairs; the correct allowance depends on the condition and the design, so have the installer quantify it.
- Agree the transaction in writing. Record the seller, exact quantity, dimensions, condition description, included accessories, pickup or delivery date, and return terms. For Unbuilt, verify that the listing is sold by Unbuilt if you intend to rely on its stated 30-day return policy.
- Inspect on receipt. Count pieces and photograph damage before unloading is complete. Keep packaging until the material has been checked against the order and any return period has begun.
- Obtain professional approval before installation where required. A reclaimed component may be visually suitable but inappropriate for a structural, roof, fire-rated, plumbing, or electrical application without testing, repair, or a specified installation method.
Material-specific checks
Reclaimed wood and reclaimed wood flooring
Ask for actual board length, width, thickness, profile, and the range within the lot rather than a single sample measurement. Look for rot, splits, excessive distortion, insect damage, old fastener holes, and previous alterations. Confirm whether boards are raw, cleaned, surfaced, or milled, because preparation changes both the usable thickness and the appearance.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →For flooring, determine which surfaces and edges are ready for installation and which require further work. Check the quantity of usable boards after sorting, not only the gross pile size. A reclaimed-wood listing can be genuine salvage, surplus, showroom, open-box, or consignment stock; ask the seller to describe the material’s history and condition precisely.

- Wet-Area Ready, No Sealing Required: Pre-finished with cured linseed oil — a natural plant-based wood finish — these tiles install straight from the box — no sealant, no prep, no waiting. Raised base channels water underneath for patios, balconies, pool surrounds, and shower floors
- Solid Vietnamese Acacia, 466-lb Distributed Capacity: Thick hardwood slats hold up under foot traffic and standard patio furniture; best used on flat, stable surfaces
- 3 Colors, 2 Patterns: Golden Teak, Dark Brown, and Grey — each available in Crossed (alternating square blocks) or Striped (parallel slats) pattern; deep-oil finish maintains rich wood tone through sun and rain
- Snap Together in Minutes, No Tools: Interlocking base clicks into place without nails or adhesive; tiles pull apart just as easily for removal, restacking, or storage
- 9-Tile Set Covers about 9 Sq. Ft.: Each tile is 12 x 12 x 0.9 inches; trimmable with a wood saw for edges and corners; wipe or rinse clean with water
“Reclaimed wood flooring” is a useful search phrase for comparing online collections. Brick + Board’s documented reclaimed-wood shop includes flooring, and Unbuilt documents reclaimed wood and flooring in its online collection. Online inventory and authenticity vary by seller, so treat the phrase as a way to discover options, not as proof that every result is genuine architectural salvage.
Reclaimed brick and masonry
Measure several bricks from the lot and check length, height, width, and texture. Look for cracks, spalling, delamination, and damage to arrises or faces. Establish whether the pieces are suitable for the intended exposure and whether the colour and weathering are consistent enough for the visible work.
Ask how many bricks are actually available, how many are usable after sorting, and whether more can be obtained from the same source. Matching a repair is usually easier when all pieces come from one batch. Include additional pieces for cuts, breakage, and future maintenance rather than assuming every reclaimed brick can be installed.
Vintage fixtures, doors, windows, and hardware
For fixtures and fittings, photograph every side and identify missing parts, previous alterations, corrosion, and damaged finishes. Confirm dimensions, mounting points, connection sizes, and included hardware before purchase. Doors and windows require especially careful checks of opening size, swing, frame condition, and distortion.

Lighting, plumbing, and other services-connected items need competent assessment before use. A period appearance does not establish that a component meets current safety requirements. Budget for compatible modern components or professional restoration where the existing parts cannot be verified.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Pickup, delivery, and returns
Transport is part of the purchase decision. Brick, stone, slate, timber, and fixtures can be heavy or fragile, and unloading may require equipment or additional labour. Ask who loads the material, how it is palletized or protected, whether the vehicle can reach the site, and who is responsible for unloading. Confirm the delivery appointment and inspect for transit damage immediately.
Local pickup gives you control over selection and avoids a second freight leg, but it may require your own vehicle and labour. Nationwide shipping expands the search but makes packaging, freight class, access, and damage claims more important. For any online order, save the listing, photographs, measurements, and written condition description before payment.

Unbuilt reports 30-day returns on Unbuilt-sold items. Verify the seller and current terms on the specific listing, and check whether the cost and method of returning a heavy or fragile item make a return practical. Other marketplace or yard listings may have different arrangements, so obtain the terms before committing.
Matching, provenance, and authenticity
Reclaimed material is not a uniform manufactured product. Age, dimensions, colour, surface wear, and condition can vary within one listing. If a consistent appearance matters, ask for one-batch stock, inspect representative pieces, and reserve enough material for the complete visible area. If historical authenticity matters, ask what is known about the source and what alterations or cleaning have been performed; do not infer provenance from an aged appearance alone.
For a period renovation, specialist dealers and directory services can save time because they connect buyers with sellers who handle architectural salvage regularly. For a straightforward repair where exact matching is less important, a local reuse store or broad marketplace may provide a more economical solution.
A practical decision guide
- Need to inspect and hand-select heavy material? Begin with a local salvage yard, ReClaim listings with pickup, or a nearby seller found through SalvageYardFinder.
- Need US delivery to another state? Search Unbuilt, confirm freight and seller identity, and compare its delivered total with regional sources.
- Need curated reclaimed wood or brick in Baltimore or the DMV? Contact Brick + Board/ALMANAC at the Baltimore location and make an appointment.
- Need UK-wide choices or a York collection? Search The Reclaimed Company and compare individual yard listings.
- Need a rare period component or a specialist seller? Use SalvoWEB’s directory, wanted alerts, and member-verification information.
- Need reclaimed wood flooring? Compare the documented flooring collections at specialist and broad online sellers, then verify the lot’s usable dimensions, condition, authenticity, and delivery cost.
Keep the listing details current
Inventory, prices, shipping coverage, return policies, business names, addresses, and opening hours can change quickly. Recheck all of those details immediately before visiting or paying. A listing that was available when you planned the project may be sold, substituted, or offered under different terms by the time you are ready to order.
