What the Best of IFA 2024 award means
Android Headlines published its award on September 11, 2024. This was editorial recognition from the publication, not an official IFA certification, laboratory ranking or guarantee of long-term reliability. The appeal was the J15 Pro Ultra’s combination of several claimed “industry-first” features rather than one independently standardized performance result.

The J15 Pro Ultra is a robot vacuum and mop paired with a self-emptying, multifunction base station. Its job is to automate vacuuming, mopping, mop washing, hot-air drying, water handling, dust collection and some dock-tray cleaning. The black model is listed as NERJ15ULTRABK; the manual also identifies a white variant, NERJ15ULTRAWH: Eureka’s product page and the instruction manual.

Why it attracted attention at IFA
FlexiRazor hair cutting
Eureka says high-density blades operate 400 times per minute, with approximately 4 mm of reciprocating movement, to cut hair wrapped around the brush roll. The company’s claims of a 99% reduction in hair entanglement and a 55% reduction at the brush ends are Eureka Lab figures, not universal or independently standardized results. Tom’s Guide nevertheless found the system particularly effective with long hair and carpet in household testing: Eureka’s specifications and Tom’s Guide’s review.
IntelliView AI
The robot uses AI-assisted debris classification and obstacle avoidance. Eureka says it can identify different mess types and change its behavior, including prioritizing mopping when it detects a wet spill. Android Headlines described a spill scenario in which the robot turned around to mop before vacuuming. Recognition will depend on lighting, object type, software and the particular spill, so this is assistance rather than a guarantee.
ScrubExtend and Flex-Arm edge cleaning
An extending mop or cleaning arm moves closer to walls and corners. Eureka markets this as advanced edge cleaning, and Tom’s Guide reported strong results along baseboards and in corners.

A dock that handles more of the routine work
The base station automatically collects dust, refills clean water, collects dirty water, washes and hot-air-dries the mop, scrapes the cleaning tray and moves debris from that tray into a collection area. Those functions reduce daily intervention, but “self-cleaning” does not mean maintenance-free.

These specifications come from Eureka and the manual. The 16,200 Pa figure is a maximum pressure claim; brush design, airflow, floor contact, repeat passes and debris type also determine cleaning.
What independent testing found
Vacuuming, hair and navigation
Tom’s Guide reported effective pickup on hardwood, ceramic tile and carpet. It collected pet hair and long hair without heavy roller buildup, navigated around furniture and common obstacles precisely, and cleaned edges and corners well. Results can vary with floor finish, rug construction, room layout, lighting, debris load and software behavior.

Mopping is the important limitation
The robot handled light surface marks and dust, and its dock washed and dried the pads effectively. However, Tom’s Guide found difficulty with dried coffee and occasional visible wet streaks. That distinction matters: excellent mop-pad hygiene and automation do not necessarily equal strong scrubbing of dried-in stains.
What owners still have to maintain
Users must refill the clean-water tank, empty or replace the dust bag, inspect the dirty-water tank and dock tray, clean sensors and brushes, and replace or wash consumables as required. Hair, fur and residue can shorten the advertised “up to 75 days” dust-bag interval.
The manual calls for a hard, level dock location—not carpet or direct sunlight—with at least 5 cm of clearance on each side and 80 cm in front. Its listed base-station input is 220–240 V, so imported units require careful regional electrical verification: manual installation and electrical guidance.

Pet-owner and smart-home considerations
FlexiRazor, strong long-hair pickup, remote video supervision and automated dock care make the J15 Pro Ultra appealing in shedding-pet homes. Do not rely on AI to handle every pet accident: remove dangerous, sticky, corrosive or oversized spills manually, and pre-clear cables and small objects.
The Eureka app supports vacuum-only, mop-only and combined modes, schedules, map editing, room names, furniture placement, room selection, suction and water-level controls, 2D and 3D maps, and camera access. Eureka lists Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri support, but its product page says Siri control depended on a future OTA update. Firmware, app version and region can therefore change what is available.
Who should consider it—and who should skip it
Better fit
- Homes with long hair or shedding pets.
- Mixed hard floors and carpets.
- Buyers who value automated mop washing and drying.
- Users who prioritize edge cleaning and less daily emptying.
- Owners with enough space for a large dock and willingness to perform periodic maintenance.
Poorer fit
- Small apartments with limited dock space.
- Homes where the robot must frequently be carried up stairs; Tom’s Guide described it as heavy.
- Buyers whose priority is the best possible dried-stain scrubbing.
- Consumers who need a clearly supported current U.S. warranty and retail channel.
- Anyone expecting “self-cleaning” to eliminate all cleaning and consumables.
- Shoppers specifically seeking a current-generation flagship rather than a 2024 model.
Availability in 2026
As of August 18, 2026, Eureka’s U.S. catalog prominently lists the J15 Ultra, J15 Evo Ultra and J15 Max Ultra, not the J15 Pro Ultra: current U.S. catalog. Eureka’s regional page still documents the Pro Ultra, but current U.S. stock, warranty coverage, replacement-part access and price are not established by these sources: regional product page.
Readers wanting a currently listed U.S. Eureka model can investigate the J15 Ultra, J15 Evo Ultra or the J15 Max Ultra in the catalog. Their specifications, docks, firmware and support should not be assumed interchangeable with the Pro Ultra. Final verdict
The Eureka J15 Pro Ultra deserved attention at IFA because its anti-tangle brush, AI-assisted cleaning behavior, extending edge system and highly automated dock formed a genuinely distinctive package. Independent testing gives its vacuuming, hair pickup, navigation and edge cleaning the strongest support. Its mopping is less convincing on dried stains, and its “self-cleaning” dock still needs an owner. In 2026, buy it only when regional availability, voltage, warranty and parts support are clear; otherwise, compare current J15 models rather than treating a 2024 award as a present-day guarantee.
