The best moss killer for pavers is one whose current local label explicitly covers your paving material and intended use. There is no supported universal winner: concrete, brick and natural-stone pavers are not interchangeable, and a product listed for one hardscape surface may not be suitable for another. Check the label before applying anything, especially if the pavers are sealed, colored or otherwise specially treated.
How to choose a moss killer for pavers
Compare products by their labeled use sites and material compatibility, not by broad claims that an ingredient or product category is “paver safe.” Confirm that the current label permits use on the particular patio, walk or driveway and covers the actual surface. If it does not clearly address your pavers, contact the manufacturer or choose a product whose label does.
- Use site: Look for the intended hardscape, such as patios, walks or driveways.
- Material: Check for the specific paving material—concrete, brick or stone. Do not assume that sealed, colored or specialty pavers are covered.
- Staining: Check for warnings about masonry and avoid lawn products whose labels rule out hard surfaces.
- Directions: Follow the product’s dilution, application method, weather limits and rinse timing.
- Nearby areas: Read precautions for plants, runoff and personal protection.
Products with listed hardscape uses
The products below have label or manufacturer information that identifies certain hardscape uses. These listings are not comparative test results, and they do not establish that a product suits every kind of paver. Verify the current label accepted for your location and your exact surface before use.
| Product | What the cited source lists | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| H02 Moss Killer Concentrate | The U.S. EPA label accepted May 1, 2025, includes patios, sidewalks, driveways, brick, stone and concrete among its use-site language. It also gives precautions about freshly treated surfaces, rinsing and removing dead moss. Read the EPA label. | Confirm the current local label and that it covers your specific paver material; follow its application and cleanup directions. |
| Moss Out! For Roofs & Walks | The manufacturer says its non-staining formula may be used on walks, bricks, stone, concrete walkways, sidewalks and driveways. Its page also warns against spray or runoff reaching desirable plants. Read the manufacturer’s product page. | Check the current label for your location and confirm its directions apply to your exact pavers. |
| Wet & Forget | The U.S. EPA registration page lists concrete surfaces as a site and moss as a pest. Check the EPA registration listing. | A registration entry does not establish suitability for every paver material. Consult the current product label. |
Avoid lawn moss killer on hardscape unless its label allows it
Some products made for lawns can stain masonry. The manufacturer of Moss Out! For Lawns Liquid says not to use that iron-based lawn product on patios or hard surfaces such as concrete, tile and brick because severe staining may occur. See the manufacturer’s warning. Do not treat a lawn-use listing as permission to apply a product to a patio.

#1 Best Overall
- Moss and algae killer and cleaner: kills moss, algae, lichen, mold, and mildew wherever it grows
- Protection for months: kills within hours and protects for months
- 2-In-1 killer and cleaner: use on lawns, patios, roofs, buildings, decks, driveways, mulch, and more
- Kills within hours: moss will quickly turn yellow and then brown, but must be physically removed once dead
A historical U.S. EPA label for Moss-A-Way dated February 3, 1976, warned, “IMPORTANT: Will stain concrete,” and directed users to avoid contact with concrete, brick, tile and painted surfaces. Read the historical label. That wording is evidence about that historical label, not current availability or directions; rely on the current label for any product you use.
Apply carefully and plan for cleanup
- Read the full current label first. Check the permitted surface, application method, dilution, timing, protective measures and rinse instructions. Do not extrapolate directions from another formulation or an older label.
- Protect nearby plants and manage runoff. Avoid spray or runoff onto desirable plants where the product’s instructions require it, and follow all label precautions for surrounding areas.
- Keep people off treated paving for the label’s stated period. The H02 label warns that freshly treated areas may be slippery and advises against walking on them while fresh. Follow the product you are using, rather than borrowing timing from another label.
- Remove dead moss if needed. Treatment may not make moss disappear on its own. The H02 label includes rinsing and physical removal guidance, and EPA label text says physical removal of dead moss may be needed. Follow your product’s specific instructions; a scrub brush can help with removal, but no particular tool is required by the evidence here.
What to expect after treatment
Visible results and cleanup depend on the product and conditions. The available label and product information does not establish a reliable effectiveness percentage, a fixed time to clear, or a duration before moss returns across different pavers and products. Do not treat a product’s listed use site as proof of comparative performance. The sources also do not establish one maintenance routine that prevents all regrowth.
