Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteIf you need supplemental heat in a home or large room of about 1,000 square feet, the EdenPURE GEN2 is a portable option whose manufacturer claims coverage up to approximately that size. That is a conditional coverage claim, not a guarantee that one heater will comfortably heat every 1,000-square-foot home. Room layout, insulation, ceiling height and outdoor temperature matter, and the GEN2 is described as supplemental heat rather than a replacement for a home’s main heating system.
BioSmart makes a similar up-to-1,000-square-foot claim under specific room and weather conditions. By contrast, ULINE’s 1,500-watt mounted quartz heater is rated for 144 square feet, making it an example of targeted radiant heat rather than a whole-home candidate. The right choice depends on whether you want to supplement heat across a larger room or warm a smaller occupied zone.
Which infrared heater is intended for a space near 1,000 square feet?
EdenPURE GEN2: portable supplemental heat
EdenPURE describes its GEN2 as an infrared PTC ceramic space heater rated at 1,500 watts and 120 volts, with a manufacturer-stated coverage of up to approximately 1,000 square feet. The company qualifies that estimate: insulation, ceiling height, room layout and outdoor temperatures affect coverage. Treat the number as a product claim, not a promise of even or comfortable heat throughout every home of that size. See EdenPURE’s GEN2 product information.
The product page also lists a digital thermostat, timer, remote, washable filter, tip-over protection, overheat protection, a 72-inch cord and a one-year manufacturer warranty. Check the current product version, warranty terms, safety listing and instructions before buying; product-page features do not replace checking the heater’s own label and manual.

BioSmart: a similarly sized claim with explicit conditions
BioSmart says one of its portable far-infrared heaters can cover up to 1,000 square feet when the room is well insulated, outdoor temperatures are at least 32°F, ceilings are normal height and room volume is no more than 9,000 cubic feet. These assumptions matter: the area figure should not be separated from them or taken to mean every BioSmart model is suitable for every home. Confirm the specifications of the exact model under consideration. Review BioSmart’s portable-heater information.
BioSmart also gives an illustrative operating-cost estimate of $1.20 for an eight-hour run at an electricity rate of $0.10 per kilowatt-hour. That is the manufacturer’s example, not a prediction of your bill: local electricity prices and how often the heater cycles affect actual cost.

How to compare heaters with different coverage claims
Infrared describes a heating approach, not a standard room-area rating. A portable heater advertised for supplemental heat across a large room and a mounted radiant heater intended to warm a directed zone do different jobs. Compare their claims in the context of how and where you will use them.
| Heater | Format and intended use | Published power and voltage | Area claim and conditions |
|---|---|---|---|
| EdenPURE GEN2 | Portable supplemental heater | 1,500 W; 120 V | Up to approximately 1,000 sq. ft.; the manufacturer says insulation, ceiling height, layout and outdoor temperature affect coverage. EdenPURE |
| BioSmart portable far-infrared heaters | Portable; model-specific details should be checked | Not stated on the cited category page. BioSmart | Up to 1,000 sq. ft. in a well-insulated room, at outdoor temperatures of at least 32°F, with normal ceiling height and room volume no greater than 9,000 cu. ft. BioSmart |
| ULINE H-5780 | Mounted quartz heater for a more limited, directed area; listed for wall, ceiling or above-workspace mounting | 1,500 W; 120 V | 144 sq. ft.; not presented as a whole-home or 1,000-sq.-ft. heater. ULINE |
The ULINE H-5780 listing gives an example of why area figures cannot be compared in isolation: although it shares the GEN2’s listed wattage and voltage, ULINE rates it for 144 square feet and describes mounting options suited to targeted heating. The listing states that the H-5780 is ETL/C-ETL listed. See the ULINE H-5780 listing.

What to check before choosing one
- Match the heater to the job. For supplemental heat in a larger room, start with portable models whose manufacturer coverage claim is near your room size, then assess the stated conditions. For a work area or another smaller occupied zone, a mounted radiant model may be more relevant.
- Check the room, not just the floor area. Ceiling height and room volume, insulation, layout and outdoor temperature can change whether a claimed area is realistic for your space.
- Confirm electrical and installation requirements. Compare the model’s voltage, wattage, plug and any mounting requirements with the location where it will be used. For a portable electric heater, CPSC says to plug it directly into a wall outlet—not an extension cord or power strip. CPSC’s portable-heater safety guidance.
- Verify the specific unit’s safety information. Check its label, current safety listing and manual rather than relying only on a retailer or manufacturer feature list.
- Keep supplemental heat in its proper role. EdenPURE labels the GEN2 as supplemental heat. Do not assume its area claim means it can replace the home’s primary heating system.
Portable infrared heater safety
CPSC advises keeping every side of a portable heater at least 3 feet from beds, clothing, curtains, papers, sofas and other things that can burn. Set it on a stable, level surface; do not run its cord beneath rugs or carpet; and do not leave it running unattended or while sleeping. Follow the individual model’s instructions as well. Read CPSC’s 2026 portable-heater safety habits.
CPSC estimates portable heaters, including electric space heaters, were involved in an average of 1,600 fires, 70 deaths and 150 injuries annually from 2020 to 2022. Those figures cover portable heaters generally, not infrared heaters specifically. CPSC also advises installing smoke alarms on every level of a home and inside each bedroom; alarms are a household safeguard, not a substitute for safe heater placement and operation. Read CPSC’s home-heating safety guidance.
