1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFor RV trips, the best fit is a portable grill that travels separately from the vehicle and is used outdoors at a permitted campsite—not a grill assumed to connect to the RV’s propane line. Coleman’s RoadTrip 285 is a stand-up option with manufacturer-listed cooking-area and heat-output specifications; Weber’s Traveler Compact is a one-burner alternative with a foldable cart and listed disposable-canister fuel option. Choose by storage, cooking space, fuel setup and the exact model’s instructions.
What makes a grill a good fit for RV camping?
“Best for RV” is mostly about practical fit, not a special RV installation. The grill should be portable enough to store and transport, suit the amount of food you plan to cook, and have a fuel arrangement that follows the grill maker’s instructions. Use it outdoors only where campsite rules and local fire restrictions permit.
- Storage and transport: Decide whether a tabletop grill or a model with a cart better fits your storage space and how you move gear around camp.
- Cooking area and burners: Compare the manufacturer’s published specifications with your typical meal size. They do not establish how one grill performs against another in independent testing.
- Fuel arrangement: Confirm which fuel sources the exact model supports and how its manual says to connect them.
- Site requirements: Check campground rules, clearance requirements, weather and fire restrictions before cooking.
Portable grill options supported by manufacturer specifications
The available official information supports comparing two portable propane models by form factor, stated cooking specifications and fuel options. It does not provide an independent head-to-head performance test.
| Model | Transport form | Published cooking specifications | Fuel information in cited source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coleman RoadTrip 285 | Portable stand-up grill | Up to 20,000 BTUs and 285 sq. in. of cooking area, according to Coleman’s product page (2025). | Propane; consult the exact product instructions for the approved fuel connection. |
| Weber Traveler Compact | Portable design with a foldable cart; specification sheet lists weight under 18 kg. | One burner; cooking-area figure not stated in the cited specification sheet. | LPG or a disposable propane canister, as listed on the specification sheet. |
Choose the RoadTrip 285 for a stand-up format
The RoadTrip 285 is the clearest fit if you want a portable grill that stands on its own rather than a tabletop unit. Coleman lists up to 20,000 BTUs and 285 square inches of cooking area; those are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of real-world cooking performance. See Coleman’s RoadTrip 285 product details.

Consider the Traveler Compact for a foldable cart
The Weber Traveler Compact’s specification sheet lists one burner, a foldable cart, weight under 18 kg and LPG or a disposable propane canister as fuel options. The sheet does not state a cooking-area figure, so compare its official specifications and dimensions with your storage needs rather than assuming it is smaller in every respect. Portability alone does not mean a grill is approved for installation in an RV.
Account for cleanup on a tabletop option
Coleman says the RoadTrip 225 Portable Tabletop Propane Grill has a removable drip tray beneath the grill to catch grease and food drippings. That may matter when planning cleanup and storage after cooking; it does not change the fuel-connection warning below. See Coleman’s RoadTrip 225 product page.

Do not assume a portable grill can connect to the RV propane line
A quick-connect fitting or adapter does not, by itself, establish that an RV’s propane system is compatible with a grill. Coleman Consumer Care says Coleman appliances use high-pressure propane systems not supported by RV propane systems, and advises against connecting its grills to an RV line for safety and warranty reasons. In an answer dated 2026-08-20, Coleman also said it does not offer a hose adapter for connecting the RoadTrip 225 Portable Tabletop Propane Grill to an RV. Read Coleman’s product-page support answers and follow the instructions for your exact grill and vehicle. Do not improvise a connection.
Weber’s cited LP owner manual warns that the models listed in that manual are not intended to be installed in or on recreational vehicles or boats. It also directs users to grill outdoors in a well-ventilated area, not inside a vehicle or enclosed space. This warning applies to the model families covered by that manual; check the manual for the specific grill you are considering. Read the Weber LP owner manual.

Use the grill outdoors and check site rules
Before cooking, confirm that the grill’s manual permits the intended use and that the campsite allows it. Follow the manual’s clearance and ventilation instructions, and respect local fire restrictions and changing weather conditions. Do not use a grill inside an RV, another vehicle or an enclosed space; check the exact manual for model-specific warnings.

RV grill buying checklist
- Measure storage space. Check the packed dimensions and decide whether a stand-up or tabletop format will fit your available storage and transport routine.
- Set your cooking-area needs. Compare published cooking area and burner count with the meals you expect to make; treat specifications as manufacturer claims, not a performance ranking.
- Choose a supported fuel option. Decide whether the model’s approved canister or cylinder arrangement works for your trip, and verify it in the product manual.
- Verify propane compatibility. Consult the grill manufacturer and vehicle manufacturer before considering any connection to the RV system. Do not rely on an adapter or fitting as proof of compatibility.
- Check where you will cook. Confirm campground rules, clearance requirements, ventilation instructions and current fire or weather restrictions.
