1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe best GE slow cookers are legacy models rather than current GE products: GE’s present small-appliance catalog does not list slow cookers, and the company says support for older GE-branded small appliances is limited. If you are shopping for a used GE cooker, start with the exact model number, check its manual and recall status, and inspect the individual unit before buying.
Does GE still make slow cookers?
GE’s current small-appliance catalog does not list slow cookers. GE says older Walmart-exclusive small appliances, including slow cookers, are out of warranty and no longer supported beyond available owner manuals and online material. Its guidance also says small appliances purchased before 2015 were managed by Walmart and are generally obsolete. See GE’s small-appliance support information and GE’s guidance on older products.
That makes this a guide to identifying and assessing used GE models, not a ranking of current products. Current stock, resale availability, prices, and the condition of any particular listing are not established; verify them with the seller.
Which GE slow cooker models are worth considering?
The manuals document two practical manual-control models, plus one model that requires special caution because of a historical recall. The specifications below come from model manuals hosted by ManualsLib, not current GE product listings.

Verify the specific unit’s recall remedy with the relevant official authority before purchase or use. Notice and manual: GE 168945 manual and recall information. |
GE 169016: simple Low/High operation
The 169016 manual describes a 6-quart crock with Low and High settings. Its capacity is measured to the rim, but the manual cautions against choosing a recipe that fills it to that level: “As a rule, you should select recipes that yield 1 quart less than the listed capacity of your crock.” Treat that as recipe guidance for this model, not as a guarantee of cooking performance.
GE 169084 and 169085: a Warm setting
The GE manual for the 169084/169085 family states, “This slow cooker has three heat settings: LOW, HIGH, and WARM.” It also warns about steam when removing the cover, so follow the manual’s lid-handling instructions. The listed electrical and size specifications are manual specifications, not independent performance tests.

- DELAY START FUNCTION FOR RICE, WHOLE GRAINS and STEAM: Delay start adds to this multi-cooker’s convenience and makes meal planning easier. You can set the delay cooking time from 1 to 15 hours to begin cooking rice or grains or steaming food while you are away from home or busy with other tasks.
GE 168945: check the recall remedy
The 168945 appears in a historical recall notice concerning a possible heating-element failure that could melt through the plastic outer shell. A model number alone does not establish whether an individual cooker was repaired. Do not buy or use one unless its recall handling has been verified with the relevant official authority.
How to check a used GE slow cooker before buying
- Get the exact model number. Ask the seller for a clear photo of the rating label on the bottom of the appliance. GE directs owners to find documentation using the model number; see GE’s manuals and literature page and GE’s manual-download guidance.
- Match the label to the right manual. Compare the complete number—not just the GE brand name—with the model manual. Confirm the control settings, capacity, and any use instructions for that exact unit.
- Check recall information. If the label says 168945, verify the remedy for that individual cooker with the relevant official authority before buying or using it.
- Inspect the appliance in person or request detailed photos. Check the cord, outer housing, lid, insert, handles, and controls for visible damage or missing components. These are general used-appliance checks, not claims that every GE model has a known defect.
- Ask about documentation and parts. Older GE small-appliance support is limited, so check whether the manual and any parts you might need can actually be located before committing.
- Use the exact manual. Follow its fill-level and lid-handling directions. For example, the 169016 manual cautions against filling to the rim, while the 169084/169085 manual warns about steam when lifting the cover.
What if you cannot find a suitable GE model?
If you want a new 6-quart cooker rather than a used legacy appliance, consider a non-GE option separately. Crock-Pot currently lists 6-quart slow cookers in its 6-quart slow cooker category. Compare the specific model’s control type, transport or lid-security features, and cleaning instructions on its product page and manual. A Crock-Pot is an alternative from another brand, not a GE product or a GE-endorsed replacement.
