If you want an integrated footrest, the GTPlayer GT800A is a concrete budget option covered in a 2023 review—but it is not a universal best pick. Its reported 135-degree recline and footrest may suit some setups, while its non-adjustable armrests and fit limits make checking the exact chair dimensions essential. The other named chairs differ in form and features, and a current guide’s Boulies Master Rex illustrates why older recommendations should not be treated as current buying advice.
How to choose a gaming chair with a footrest
A footrest does not make a chair a good fit by itself. Check the full setup before choosing: your seated height and weight against the listed limits, the seat dimensions, whether the chair fits beneath or alongside your desk, and whether you can use its recline and footrest without hitting furniture. Also compare adjustment options and upholstery; review descriptions do not establish long-term durability.
- Fit: Compare the manufacturer’s height and weight limits with your own, then check seat width and depth on the exact listing.
- Recline and footrest: Look for the recline range and whether the footrest remains useful at the angle you expect to use. A stated angle alone does not establish comfort.
- Adjustments: Check whether armrests, lumbar support, and seat height adjust. A chair can include a footrest while offering few other adjustments.
- Materials and upkeep: Confirm the upholstery on the precise SKU and follow its care guidance. A review’s material label is not proof of how it will hold up.
- Price and availability: Compare current listings in your region. The cited coverage does not establish current prices or availability.
2023 chairs and the trade-offs reported
The details below reflect the cited publications’ 2023 coverage, not current manufacturer verification. Check the exact regional listing and SKU before relying on specifications.
| Chair | Footrest and recline | Fit and adjustments | Reported caveat |
|---|---|---|---|
| GTPlayer GT800A | TechGearLab reported a footrest and measured 135-degree recline in its August 1, 2023 review. | The same review’s comparison table listed manufacturer-stated limits of 250 pounds and 6 ft 3 in, and no adjustable armrests. | TechGearLab characterized it as a budget option that may not match premium chairs for comfort and adjustability. Its category ratings—comfort 5.2, adjustability 3.8, setup 5.2—are that review’s scores, not universal measures. Read the TechGearLab review. |
| Von Racer | GameRevolution described an adjustable footrest. | Further comparable fit and adjustment details are not established in the cited summary. | GameRevolution said the pillow straps were fragile; this is a 2023 editorial observation, not current verification. Read the GameRevolution roundup. |
| Respawn 900 | GameRevolution described a hydraulic footrest that was easy to deploy. | The roundup noted that the chair had no height adjustment. | It is a larger recliner format rather than the typical gaming-chair style, so consider its footprint and desk compatibility. These are the roundup’s 2023 descriptions, not current verification. Read the GameRevolution roundup. |
| Shuanghu and Homall | Not stated in the available GameRevolution summary. | Not stated in the available GameRevolution summary. | The models appear in GameRevolution’s May 30, 2023 roundup, but the cited information does not provide comparable details for them. Read the GameRevolution roundup. |
Is the GTPlayer GT800A a good choice?
It is a reasonable candidate to investigate if you want a lower-cost gaming-chair format with a footrest and the reported limits fit you. TechGearLab’s 2023 figures give a useful starting point, but they should not substitute for current listing details. In particular, verify the weight and height limits, seat measurements, recline behavior, and armrest design for the exact model being sold. Its lack of adjustable armrests may matter if you need to align your arms with a desk or change position often.

What has changed since the 2023 recommendations?
Current product guides may cover models that were not part of older roundups. TechRadar’s current gaming-chair guide covers the Boulies Master Rex (2026), describing its integrated footrest as supportive but a little short. The guide reports a recommended maximum height of 5 ft 11 in and a two-year warranty. Those are current-guide details, not a 2023 recommendation; check the current manufacturer listing for your market before buying. See TechRadar’s current gaming-chair guide.
