Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor making coleslaw, choose a food processor that includes both a slicing disc and a shredding disc, then size the bowl to the batches you actually prepare. A slicing disc handles cabbage; a shredding disc handles carrots and other firm vegetables. The available sources support this feature-based recommendation, but do not establish a tested winner among current models.
Which food processor features matter for coleslaw?
Look for two cutting functions: slicing for cabbage and shredding for carrots. Cuisinart’s classic coleslaw recipe uses a 4 mm slicing disc for green and red cabbage, then the medium shredding side of a reversible disc for carrots and fennel. That is one manufacturer’s recipe method, not a rule that every slaw must follow. See Cuisinart’s recipe.
Slicing and shredding discs
Check the exact model’s included attachments and available shred sizes before buying. Some discs are reversible, with a slicing side and a shredding side; others may be separate accessories. Do not assume a processor includes both functions just because it is advertised as a food processor.
Bowl capacity
Choose capacity based on your usual batch and how you plan to work. KitchenAid describes 7-cup-and-larger processors as suited to more substantial prep tasks, including slicing or shredding cabbage and carrots. Its guide is a useful sizing reference, not a universal minimum for coleslaw. Read KitchenAid’s capacity guide.

- POWERFUL PERFORMANCE: Equipped with a 1000-peak-watt motor, this Ninja food processor effortlessly handles tough ingredients, ensuring smooth and consistent results every time.
- AUTO-IQ TECHNOLOGY: Features 4 Auto-iQ intelligent preset programs that take the guesswork out of food prep, providing one-touch control for chopping, slicing, pureeing, and dough making.
- LARGE CAPACITY: The 9-cup bowl is perfect for large batches, making it ideal for family meals, entertaining, or weekly meal prep, saving you time and effort in the kitchen.
- PRECISION BLADES: Includes stainless steel precision blades designed for optimal performance, ensuring even chopping, slicing, and pureeing of all your ingredients.
- DOUGH BLADE INCLUDED: Comes with a specialized dough blade that makes mixing dough for bread, pizza, and pastries a breeze, delivering professional-quality results at home.
A recipe’s finished yield does not tell you the minimum processor-bowl capacity: Cuisinart’s recipe makes 12 cups (2.7 L), but the vegetables are combined in a separate large mixing bowl. The processor does not need to hold the full finished batch at once.
Feed tube and pusher
Check whether the feed tube accommodates the pieces you expect to process. KitchenAid advises cutting and supporting narrow produce such as carrots so it fits the feed tube; follow the manual for your specific machine. Feed-tube dimensions and the pusher design affect how conveniently you can prepare vegetables, but the cited sources do not compare models on this point.

- Built-in bowl scraper saves time. Quickly process ingredients without stopping to use a spatula. Simply move the scraper from side-to-side to scrape the bowl while the food processor is running or the power is off — no need to remove the lid.
- Slice, shred, chop, mix and puree with 2 versatile attachments. The Hamilton Beach food processor gives you 5 processing functions and includes a stainless steel slicing/shredding disc and chopping/pureeing blade so you can tackle every job with ease.
- Powerful 450 watt motor. Make healthy salads, homemade salsa, hearty acai bowls and more. The 450 watt motor easily powers through the toughest ingredients, so you can spend less time processing and more time enjoying.
- Precise control with 2 speeds plus pulse. The low and high speeds plus pulse give you the control you need for a variety of recipes. Use the high speed when you need more power and select the low speed for processing or mixing delicate foods.
- 10 cup bowl capacity. The generous 10 cup bowl fits large volumes of food all at once, and the large feed chute saves you time by reducing the need to pre-cut food before processing or using as a vegetable chopper.
How to compare models before buying
| What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Included discs | Confirm that the box includes both slicing and shredding attachments, and check the shred size. |
| Bowl capacity | Match it to your usual batch; do not infer that it must hold a recipe’s entire yield. |
| Feed tube and pusher | Consider how cabbage pieces and carrots fit, and follow the model’s instructions for supporting produce. |
| Cleaning and storage | Compare the actual accessories and care instructions for each model; ease of cleaning has not been established comparatively. |
| Replacement-part support | Confirm that a replacement disc is available and explicitly compatible with your processor’s model. |
| Price and availability | Check current listings at the time of purchase; the cited sources do not provide a current price comparison. |
Because attachment packages and compatibility vary, use the manufacturer’s documentation for the exact model. KitchenAid provides an accessories selection guide; Cuisinart offers a food processor manuals and product help page.
A coleslaw method using a food processor
Cuisinart’s recipe illustrates how the two discs can divide the vegetable prep: slice the cabbages, then shred the carrots and fennel. The recipe makes 12 cups (2.7 L) and gives an approximate preparation time of 5 to 10 minutes, plus one hour of resting time. Those are the recipe’s stated yield and timing, not a measured processor-capacity or speed benchmark.

- SLICE, SHRED, CHOP, MIX AND PUREE WITH 2 VERSATILE ATTACHMENTS: This large food processor and vegetable chopper includes a chopping/pureeing blade and reversible stainless steel slicing/shredding disc so you can tackle every job with ease.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What this recommendation can—and cannot—tell you
A food processor with both slicing and shredding discs is a practical match for the cabbage-and-carrot tasks in coleslaw prep. The cited manufacturer materials explain the functions and offer a recipe example, but they do not compare current models for speed, cut consistency, durability, cleaning ease or value. Choose by the attachments, bowl size, feed tube, support and current price that fit your needs rather than treating any model as a proven top performer.
