If you are searching for the best Fisher & Paykel washer in the United States in 2026, the honest answer is narrower than most buyers expect. This is not a brand with a long current US washer lineup to compare across five or six models. For most American homeowners, the practical Fisher & Paykel washer to evaluate is the WH2424F1, a 24-inch compact front-load washer with a 2.4 cu. ft. drum.
That does not make it a bad choice. It means the decision is less about picking the “best” model and more about whether this premium compact washer fits your actual laundry space, household size, utility rough-ins, flooring, dryer plan, and budget. On our job sites, that is where washer decisions succeed or fail. The appliance spec sheet matters, but so do the standpipe height, door swing, shutoff access, subfloor stiffness, outlet location, and whether the machine can be serviced after the cabinets are installed.
The Fisher & Paykel WH2424F1 is best suited for apartments, condos, ADUs, small laundry closets, second-floor laundry areas, and remodels where a clean compact installation matters more than maximum capacity. It is not the right answer for every family, especially if you are used to a 4.5 to 5.5 cu. ft. full-size washer.
Here is the builder’s view: buy the washer only after you confirm the space, the route into the house, the hookups, the floor, the drain, the dryer pairing, and the total installed cost. A washer that looks perfect online can become expensive fast when the closet is 1 inch too shallow or the old valves are corroded behind finished drywall.
Best Fisher & Paykel Washer Choice in the US
The main Fisher & Paykel washer worth evaluating for US projects is the WH2424F1. It is a compact front-load washer, about 33.5 inches high, 23.6 inches wide, and 25.4 inches deep. Capacity is 2.4 cu. ft. It uses a 120V, 15A electrical connection and has an Energy Star certification.

Key features include a stainless steel drum, steam, sanitize, wool, sports, time saver, drum clean, Add a Garment, and compatibility with a matching condensing dryer for stacked compact laundry layouts. Those features fit the kind of project where Fisher & Paykel makes the most sense: a refined laundry closet, condo utility space, small primary suite laundry zone, or ADU where every inch has to work.
Availability deserves a plain warning. In 2026, Fisher & Paykel washer availability in the US appears limited compared with larger appliance brands. Some US dealer pages list the WH2424F1, while at least one major appliance retailer has shown it as no longer available. Top-load Fisher & Paykel washers are often legacy models, non-US-market models, or difficult to source through ordinary American dealers.
Before you design cabinets, order a stack kit, or build a laundry closet around this washer, verify the exact US model number, dimensions, warranty, parts availability, delivery timing, and local service support. Do not rely on Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or Asia product pages unless your supplier confirms the exact model is sold and supported in your market.

| Use Case | Best Fisher & Paykel Fit | Builder’s Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Small laundry closet | WH2424F1 compact front-load washer | Good fit if depth, hoses, door swing, and service clearance are confirmed before cabinetry. |
| Condo or apartment remodel | WH2424F1 with matching compact dryer | Strong option where compact size, ventless dryer planning, and HOA rules all line up. |
| ADU or guest suite | WH2424F1 | Good premium compact choice for moderate laundry volume and space-efficient design. |
| Large family laundry room | Usually not ideal | Consider a full-size 4.5 to 5.5 cu. ft. washer from another brand if capacity is the priority. |
| Replacing an old top-loader | Possible, but not equal capacity | Measure expectations carefully. A compact front-loader washes differently and holds less bulk. |
| Second-floor laundry | Possible with planning | Confirm floor stiffness, leveling, leak protection, and stacking details before purchase. |
Fisher & Paykel WH2424F1 Specs That Matter
The WH2424F1 is a 24-inch class front-load washer. Its approximate dimensions are 33.5 inches high by 23.6 inches wide by 25.4 inches deep. Those numbers are appliance-body dimensions, not always the real-world installed footprint. In the field, we also account for water hoses, drain hose routing, rear clearance, door clearance, trim, baseboards, flooring transitions, and the space needed to pull the unit forward for service.
The 2.4 cu. ft. capacity is compact. That is enough for daily laundry, smaller households, delicates, workout clothes, towels in moderate loads, and many condo or ADU users. It is not the same experience as a large US washer with 4.5, 5.0, or 5.5 cu. ft. capacity. Bulky comforters, large family towel loads, and weekly laundry for four or five people may require more cycles.
The washer’s 120V, 15A electrical requirement is helpful because it does not require a 240V washer circuit. Still, the outlet location and protection matter. Laundry areas commonly require code-compliant electrical planning, and many modern laundry installations involve GFCI protection depending on location and applicable code. We do not bury outlets behind inaccessible cabinetry. The plug and disconnect should be reachable without dismantling the room.
Energy Star certification is another practical advantage. Energy Star states that certified clothes washers use about 20 percent less energy and 30 percent less water than regular washers. Certified front-load washers use about 50 percent less energy and water than top-load agitator washers. For full-size washers, Energy Star cites roughly 14 gallons per load compared with about 20 gallons for standard machines. Actual savings depend on load size, cycle selection, water temperature, and local utility rates.

Good fit: tight but well-designed laundry spaces
The WH2424F1 is strongest in compact spaces where a full-size washer makes the room worse. We see this in older homes with narrow laundry closets, urban condos, garage conversions, guest suites, and ADUs. A 24-inch washer can preserve storage, walkway clearance, and door function when a 27-inch full-size unit would crowd everything around it.
It also works well when homeowners want a cleaner built-in look. Compact front-load appliances can sit under counters in some layouts, stack with the approved matching dryer in others, or fit into a closet with proper clearances. The key is planning the appliances before ordering cabinetry, counters, trim, or doors.
Good fit: condo and ADU projects
For condos and ADUs, compact laundry is often the most realistic solution. A 24-inch washer reduces footprint, but the project still needs the right utilities. Condos may require HOA approval, licensed plumbing and electrical work, drain capacity verification, water shutoff access, sound control, and proof that the dryer plan does not violate building rules.
ADUs need similar discipline. When we build or remodel small living units, laundry gets coordinated with kitchen, bath, and mechanical systems. The best location is not always the most convenient-looking closet. We look for short plumbing runs, accessible shutoffs, a drain route that makes sense, floor structure that can handle vibration, and enough depth for the appliance plus hoses.

Skip it: maximum-capacity family laundry
If your household runs large loads every day, a 2.4 cu. ft. washer may feel undersized. In that case, the better appliance may be a full-size washer from LG, GE, Whirlpool, Samsung, Electrolux, Bosch, Miele, or another brand with a model that fits your capacity target, service expectations, and local dealer support.
That does not mean compact is inferior. It means capacity is a real constraint. A premium compact washer can be excellent inside the right project and frustrating inside the wrong one.
Real Installed Cost in 2026
The appliance price is only one line item. Current US and near-US listings show the Fisher & Paykel WH2424F1 around $1,300 to $1,600 when available, before delivery, hoses, taxes, installation, stacking kit, dryer, old appliance haul-away, and any utility upgrades.
For a basic installed washing machine, Homewyse’s May 2026 benchmark estimates about $1,039 to $2,137 per installed washing machine. That type of range generally assumes standard connections and a midrange front-load washer, not a complicated relocation or full laundry-room build-out.
Washer and dryer installation costs vary widely. With existing hookups, HomeGuide reports about $100 to $300 per set for labor when water, drain, electrical, and vent connections are already in place. HomeAdvisor reports washer/dryer installation averaging about $750, with simple hookups starting around $50 and more complex work reaching $2,000.
New hookups change the budget quickly. HomeAdvisor lists new outlets at about $100 to $450, new drain pipe at $225 to $1,200, dryer vent installation at $140 to $600, and creating a laundry room at $8,000 to $30,000. HomeGuide gives $650 to $2,000 for adding new utility hookups where none existed. Permit costs often run about $50 to $500 depending on whether the work is a simple hookup or a larger plumbing, electrical, or mechanical project.
| Project Type | Typical 2026 Cost Range | What It Usually Includes |
|---|---|---|
| Washer purchase only | $1,300-$1,600 | WH2424F1 washer when available, before delivery, taxes, hoses, and installation. |
| Simple replacement with existing hookups | $100-$750 labor, plus appliance | Delivery, connection to existing valves and drain, leveling, basic test cycle, and haul-away if purchased. |
| Basic installed washer benchmark | $1,039-$2,137 total | Midrange washer, standard connections, labor, and supplies, excluding major upgrades. |
| Laundry closet refresh | $2,500-$5,000+ | Compact washer install plus minor plumbing/electrical, valves, pan or alarm, shelving, trim, drywall, paint, and doors. |
| New hookup or relocation | $650-$2,000+ for utilities | Water, drain, electrical, and sometimes venting or dryer drain routing, before finish repairs. |
| Full laundry-room build-out | $8,000-$30,000 | Framing, plumbing, electrical, ventilation, flooring, cabinets, counters, drywall, permits, and appliance installation. |
The most common budget mistake is treating a $1,300 compact washer like a $1,300 project. In a finished laundry closet, the real cost can land at $2,500 to $5,000 once valves, electrical corrections, drain work, finish repair, shelving, doors, leak protection, and dryer drainage are included.
Measurements to Take Before You Shop
Before choosing any washer, take photos and measurements. We ask clients for the same information before we finalize a laundry design because the appliance decision affects rough-ins and finished dimensions.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsMeasure the clear width, depth, and height of the laundry opening. Include baseboards, trim, door stops, bifold door hardware, shelving, countertop overhangs, and flooring transitions. A washer that is 23.6 inches wide still needs practical side clearance, room for fingers during installation, and enough space to avoid cabinet rub.
Measure depth from the back wall to the closed door or walkway line. Then account for hoses behind the washer. A listed depth of about 25.4 inches does not mean the installed closet can be 25.5 inches deep. Water hoses and drain routing often add several inches. If the washer door opens into a hallway, bathroom, or closet return, check whether the swing conflicts with trim, casing, or another appliance.
Confirm the route into the home. Measure stair turns, door widths, hallway pinch points, elevator openings, and the laundry-room threshold. Compact washers are easier to move than full-size machines, but they still need a clean path.

Document the utility conditions. Photograph the outlet, water valves, drain standpipe, supply hoses, dryer vent or dryer drain location, and any shutoff panel. Note the distance from the washer location to each connection. If valves are corroded, frozen, leaking, or buried behind cabinetry, plan to replace them before the appliance arrives.
Installation Details That Make or Break the Washer
Floor and vibration control
Front-load washers spin fast, and compact machines still need a solid, level floor. Fisher & Paykel installation guidance emphasizes a solid, level surface. On our projects, we look for subfloor stiffness, not just visible flatness. A second-floor closet with a flexible floor can transmit vibration through framing, drywall, and adjacent rooms.
Leveling feet must be adjusted carefully. The machine should sit firmly on all feet without rocking. Anti-vibration pads can help in some cases, but they are not a cure for a weak floor or an unstable platform. Avoid site-built pedestals unless the appliance manufacturer allows that setup and the platform is properly framed.
Water supply and shutoffs
Use new hose sets during installation. Fisher & Paykel guidance calls for new hoses and recommends replacing inlet hoses about every 5 years to reduce flood risk. We prefer accessible quarter-turn shutoffs in good condition, with enough clearance to operate them quickly.
Do not trap shutoffs behind stacked appliances where no one can reach them. If the washer is in finished space or upstairs, accessible shutoffs are not optional in practical terms. A small leak can become a ceiling repair, flooring claim, and cabinet replacement if water runs unnoticed.

Drain performance
A washer is only as good as the drain it discharges into. The standpipe and trap need to be correct for the machine and local code. Drain height, pipe size, venting, and secure hose placement all matter. A loose drain hose can jump out during discharge. An undersized or partially blocked drain can overflow during a high-flow pump-out.
For remodels, we test drain performance before closing walls or installing finished cabinets. That is especially important in older houses, converted closets, and laundry areas moved away from their original plumbing stack.
Electrical requirements
The WH2424F1 uses 120V and 15A electrical specs, but that does not mean any old outlet is acceptable. Laundry areas may require GFCI protection under applicable code, and the outlet should be grounded, accessible, and placed to avoid strain on the cord. If a dryer is part of the project, its electrical needs must be planned separately. Ventless compact dryers often have different requirements than full-size electric dryers.
Stacking With a Matching Dryer
Stacking is one of the main reasons to consider a compact Fisher & Paykel washer. A stacked washer and condensing dryer can create a clean vertical laundry station in a closet, bathroom-adjacent utility zone, or ADU mechanical area.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Use the manufacturer-approved stacking kit. Do not improvise brackets, blocking, or generic straps as the primary stacking system. The washer sits on the bottom because it is heavier and moves more during spin. The dryer goes above, secured according to the appliance instructions.
Plan the full height before you build shelves or cabinets above the machines. Include the washer, dryer, stacking kit, leveling adjustments, outlet access, hose path, dryer drain or reservoir access, and service clearance. If a closet has upper cabinets, make sure the homeowner can still reach lint filters, controls, detergent drawers, shutoffs, and plugs.

Ventless dryers change the construction plan. A condensing dryer may not need an exterior vent, but it still needs proper electrical service and condensate handling. Some drain to a reservoir; others can connect to a drain. That detail affects the laundry box, standpipe, and cabinetry layout.

Permit requirements depend on the city, scope, and building type. A simple like-for-like washer replacement often does not need the same permit review as adding a new laundry location, moving a drain, installing a new outlet, cutting a dryer vent, or modifying a condo plumbing stack. Some municipalities provide specific guidance for appliance installations, and local rules always control.

As a practical rule, hire licensed trades when the job involves new plumbing, new electrical circuits, drain relocation, dryer vent routing, gas work, wall opening in multifamily buildings, or second-floor laundry changes that affect finished spaces below. Condo and co-op buildings may also require insurance certificates, work-hour limits, HOA approval, and licensed contractor documentation.
Flood protection is worth planning before the appliance arrives. In upstairs or finished laundry spaces, we commonly recommend accessible shutoffs, new braided hoses, a pan where practical and code-accepted, a water alarm, and sometimes an automatic shutoff device. A pan is not useful if it has nowhere to drain or if it blocks service access, so it has to be designed into the space rather than thrown under the washer at the end.
For electrical safety, do not use extension cords. Do not hide junctions behind built-ins. Keep the plug accessible. If the existing outlet is loose, ungrounded, damaged, or in the wrong location, correct it before installation day.
When to DIY vs. When to Hire a Pro
A straightforward washer swap can be a DIY job for a capable homeowner if the existing valves work, the drain is correct, the outlet is safe, the floor is level, and the machine can be moved without damage. The basic steps are shutting off water, disconnecting the old unit, replacing hoses, setting the new washer, leveling it, connecting supply and drain, checking for leaks, and running a test cycle.
Even then, compact front-load washers reward patience. Rushing the leveling process is one of the most common mistakes. Another is pushing the machine too far back and kinking hoses. A third is failing to check for slow leaks after the first full wash cycle.
Hire a pro when valves are seized, the standpipe is questionable, the outlet needs GFCI correction, the washer is being stacked, the laundry is upstairs, the project is in a condo, the appliance is going into built-in cabinetry, or any plumbing or electrical work has to move. Also hire help if the delivery path involves tight stairs or finished walls that can be damaged during handling.
For a remodel, choose the washer and dryer pair before finalizing the room. The appliance specifications should drive the rough-in locations, not the other way around. We would rather adjust a laundry box location on paper than cut open new drywall because a hose cannot make the turn behind the machine.
Maintenance for Long Washer Life
Front-load washers need simple but consistent care. Leave the door and gasket area dry after use when the room layout allows it. Wipe the gasket if water collects. Avoid excess detergent, especially in a high-efficiency machine. Too much soap can create residue, odor, poor rinsing, and service calls that look like appliance defects but are really use problems.

Replace inlet hoses on schedule. Fisher & Paykel guidance recommends replacing inlet hoses about every 5 years. We also inspect hoses any time we move the machine, remodel the room, or see bulging, cracking, rust, or mineral buildup at the fittings.
Keep the washer level. If it starts walking, vibrating more than usual, or making new noises, do not ignore it. Check load balance, feet adjustment, floor movement, and shipping bolt removal if the unit was recently installed. A machine that shakes hard enough to move can damage hoses, flooring, trim, and stacked dryer connections.
Final Recommendation
The best Fisher & Paykel washer for most US buyers in 2026 is the WH2424F1, but only for the right project. It is a premium compact front-load washer with useful cycles, Energy Star certification, 120V operation, stacking compatibility, and dimensions that fit tight laundry designs. It is a strong candidate for condos, ADUs, apartments, laundry closets, and smaller remodels.

It is not the best choice if you need a large-capacity family washer, want a broad selection of current US Fisher & Paykel models, or cannot verify local availability and service support. In those cases, compare compact and full-size options from other brands before committing the room design.
Our builder’s advice is simple: choose the appliance and dryer pair early, verify the exact model, measure the real installed space, inspect the utilities, and price the whole project. The right washer is not just the one that fits the brochure. It is the one that fits the house.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best Fisher & Paykel washer in the US for 2026?
For most US buyers, the main model to evaluate is the Fisher & Paykel WH2424F1, a 24-inch compact front-load washer with 2.4 cu. ft. capacity, Energy Star certification, steam, sanitize, wool, sports, time saver, drum clean, and stacking compatibility.
Is a 2.4 cu. ft. washer big enough for a family?
It depends on laundry volume. A 2.4 cu. ft. compact washer works well for apartments, condos, ADUs, couples, and smaller loads, but it is not equivalent to a 4.5 to 5.5 cu. ft. full-size washer for large families or bulky bedding.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
How much does a Fisher & Paykel washer cost installed?
The WH2424F1 washer itself is typically about $1,300 to $1,600 when available. A simple replacement may add $100 to $750 in labor, while a laundry closet refresh can reach $2,500 to $5,000 or more once plumbing, electrical, finishes, and leak protection are included.
Can I install a Fisher & Paykel washer myself?
A capable homeowner may handle a simple replacement if the valves, drain, outlet, floor, and access are already correct. Hire a pro for stacking, second-floor laundry, condo work, seized valves, drain changes, electrical corrections, or built-in cabinetry.
Can the Fisher & Paykel WH2424F1 be stacked?
Yes, it is designed for stacking with a compatible matching dryer when the approved stacking kit is used. The washer belongs on the bottom, the dryer above, and the closet must allow clearance for hoses, controls, service access, and ventilation or condensate handling.
Do I need a permit to install a washer?
A basic like-for-like replacement may not require the same permit as a relocation, but local rules control. New plumbing, new electrical circuits, drain relocation, dryer vent work, gas work, and multifamily installations often require permits or licensed trades.
