The examples below compare manufacturer-listed features, not results from a controlled head-to-head test. Match the exact model and regional version to your needs before buying.
Electric kettles with keep-warm functions compared
Hold time and temperature control are separate features. A kettle may keep water warm for a set period without letting you choose the holding temperature. The listed specifications below come from manufacturers and may vary by market or exact SKU.

These figures describe different products and manufacturer claims, not identical test conditions. They do not establish comparative temperature stability, energy use, noise, durability or long-term reliability.
How long does an electric kettle keep water warm?
It depends on the model and its settings. Among these examples, manufacturers specify 30 minutes for the cited Tefal kettle, 60 minutes for the Krups model, and up to an hour for Chefman’s keep-warm models. Xiaomi’s Smart Kettle 2 Pro has a longer configurable hold: a 12-hour default that can be adjusted from one to 24 hours in the app. Xiaomi says the kettle must remain connected to power to hold temperature.

Check what “keep warm” means for the particular kettle. It may maintain a selected temperature, use a fixed holding temperature, or offer a configurable hold period. The product descriptions do not provide a common temperature-stability test, so the stated duration alone cannot tell you how closely a kettle holds its target temperature in everyday use.
Choose temperature control for the drinks you make
If you only need boiling water, a boil-only kettle may be enough; if you want to heat water below boiling, check for presets or adjustable temperature control. The cited Krups Savoy lists seven settings, while Tefal’s KO853 lists five from 40°C to 100°C. Xiaomi gives a continuous adjustment range of 40°C to 90°C in 1°C steps. Chefman’s options depend on the specific model.

Do not assume that a temperature setting also determines the keep-warm temperature or duration. Confirm both functions in the exact product description or manual, especially if you need the kettle to hold a particular temperature for an extended period.
Compare capacity, materials and cleaning
Capacity
The cited models range from 1.5 L for the Tefal KO853 to 1.8 L for Chefman’s dedicated keep-warm kettle. Krups lists 1.7 L. Choose a capacity that fits the amount you typically prepare rather than relying on a larger size alone; also check the minimum and maximum fill marks in the manual.

Materials and handling
Look at which surfaces contact the water, whether the outside is insulated, and how the lid and spout are designed. Tefal describes the KO853 as double-walled with a stainless-steel interior. A stainless-steel exterior by itself does not establish that every water-contact part is metal or that a kettle is plastic-free.
Cleaning and scale
Krups lists a removable limescale filter on the Savoy. For any model, check whether the interior is accessible for cleaning and follow its approved descaling instructions. Mineral deposits can build up depending on local water hardness; the product specifications cited here do not establish how quickly any kettle will scale in your home.

Check safety features and operating instructions
Safety features vary by model; a feature listed for one kettle should not be assumed for another.
- Automatic shut-off: Tefal lists it for the KO853. Chefman describes it for its keep-warm models, and Xiaomi says the Smart Kettle 2 Pro shuts off after boiling.
- Dry-operation protection: Chefman describes boil-dry protection. Xiaomi says the Smart Kettle 2 Pro has shutoffs for dry-burning and excessive temperature.
- Cool-touch exterior: Tefal says the KO853’s double-wall construction keeps its exterior cool. This is a product-specific claim, not a guarantee that every kettle surface is cool in every condition.
- Fill limits: Xiaomi advises using the minimum and maximum water lines. It warns that too little water can cause dry-burning and overfilling can lead to water spraying and scalding. Follow the exact model’s instructions.
In a June 2024 Japan-focused release, Tiger Corporation recommended kettles with a “hot water leakage prevention*1 function when tipping over” to help prevent burns. This is Tiger’s company guidance in a Japanese context, not a universal rule for all markets. The same release describes a tipping-over test under Japanese standard J60335-2-15(2021), with hot-water flow limited to 50 mL or less; that figure is specific to Tiger’s account of the Japanese standard. How to choose the right model for your home
- Set your hold-time requirement. Decide whether a 30- or 60-minute hold is sufficient, or whether you need a longer, configurable hold.
- Decide whether you need a target temperature. Check the available settings and whether the kettle holds the temperature you select rather than simply keeping water warm in a fixed mode.
- Match capacity to use. Compare the stated liters with the quantities you usually prepare, and verify the fill limits.
- Check fit and upkeep. Confirm voltage, plug, water-contact materials, filter, cleaning access and descaling instructions for the specific regional SKU.
- Verify protection and support. Read the model manual for shut-off and dry-operation safeguards, then check the current local warranty and service terms.
What independent testing establishes
Consumer Reports’ January 2, 2026 search-result summary says it evaluated boil time, warm-holding time and marking legibility, and that four tested kettles held water warm for an hour or more. The full page was not accessible, so this summary does not support naming winning models, comparing protocols or drawing conclusions about the products above.
