For a coastal home, the strongest starting point is a lock whose maker specifically recommends it for marine or coastal use. NANZ’s No. 7024M is the clearest match among the products reviewed: the manufacturer describes it as a marine-grade entry lock for coastal residences and yachts. Borg’s BL2602 ECP is a different option for buyers who want a mechanical keypad lock, while CISA’s Marine Type is a padlock for a separate gate or storage application—not a primary entry lock.
No available evidence establishes one universal winner or predicts how many years any of these locks will last at a particular home. Compare the exact model, materials, fit, lock function and scope of corrosion testing before choosing.
Which lock types suit a coastal home?
Salt air can make corrosion resistance an important selection criterion, but “marine” is not enough to establish that every component is made from the same material or that the product will last a known number of years. Match the product to the door and use, then verify its model-specific specifications.
| Product | Best-matched use | Evidence and fit to check |
|---|---|---|
| NANZ No. 7024M | Marine-grade residential entry lock | NANZ describes it as suitable for coastal residences and yachts, reports all-stainless-steel construction, and states a minimum door thickness of 1-3/8 inches. Confirm the ordered handle, thumbturn, cylinder and installation configuration. NANZ product page |
| NANZ No. 7124M | Related marine-grade entry lock for thicker doors | NANZ reports all-stainless-steel construction and specifies doors 1-3/4 inches thick or greater. The different minimum thickness illustrates why the model number matters. NANZ product page |
| Borg BL2602 ECP Marine Grade Pro | External mechanical combination lock for compatible timber doors, timber gates and composite doors | Borg reports stainless internal parts, a marine-grade finish, fit up to 80 mm thick, and more than 1,000 hours of salt-spray testing. It is not equivalent to a conventional keyed residential deadbolt. Borg product page |
| CISA Marine Type | Separate gate, locker or storage use | CISA describes a padlock for marine or rainy environments, with a chrome-plated solid-brass body and stainless-steel shackle. It is not a primary entry-door lock. CISA product page |
Best match for a coastal entry: NANZ No. 7024M
NANZ explicitly calls the No. 7024M a marine-grade entry lock and recommends it for coastal residences and yachts. The manufacturer reports all-stainless-steel construction, an adjustable bevel faceplate, a three-piece anti-friction latch, a stainless-steel strike plate and a metal dustbox. Its stated minimum door thickness is 1-3/8 inches.
#1 Best Overall
- Mechanical, keyless push-button lock
- Adjustable Deadbolt
- Easy programmable code
The lock can be supplied with the manufacturer’s handle, thumbturn and cylinder options. NANZ also lists a UL listing and a three-hour fire rating. Confirm that the exact ordered configuration and the planned installation are covered by the ratings before relying on them. See NANZ’s No. 7024M specifications.
When the related NANZ No. 7124M may fit better
The No. 7124M is another marine-grade entry-lock candidate from NANZ, but its page specifies doors 1-3/4 inches thick or greater. Do not assume the 7024M and 7124M have interchangeable fit simply because they share a product family and application. Check the door thickness and the manufacturer’s current installation details for the exact model. See NANZ’s No. 7124M specifications.

Keypad alternative: Borg BL2602 ECP
Borg describes the BL2602 ECP Marine Grade Pro as a medium-duty external mechanical combination lock for timber doors, timber gates and composite doors. Its page says it fits doors or gates up to 80 mm thick and reports more than 4,000 code options. This is relevant if a mechanical keypad-style lock is the desired function and the opening matches the product’s application; it should not be treated as a direct substitute for a keyed residential deadbolt.
Borg reports more than 1,000 hours of salt-spray testing for the BL2602 ECP finish, as well as 100,000-use testing. These are manufacturer-reported tests for this model, not independently verified coastal field-life results or a prediction of service life in a particular location. Review Borg’s BL2602 ECP details.

Gate or storage option: CISA Marine Type padlock
CISA says its Marine Type padlocks are designed for marine areas exposed to salt air or rainy conditions. The listed construction is a chrome-plated solid-brass body with a stainless-steel shackle. Consider it only for an adjacent use such as a gate, locker or storage space; the source describes a padlock, not a main entry-door lock. Check CISA’s Marine Type description.

Salt-spray figures can help distinguish what a manufacturer says it tested, but they do not translate directly into years of use outdoors. Keep each claim attached to its product, tested finish or parts, method and source.

- Borg BL2602 ECP: Borg’s undated product page reports more than 1,000 hours of salt-spray testing for this model’s finish. The page also reports testing to 100,000 uses and more than 4,000 code options. These remain manufacturer claims for the BL2602 ECP; they are not comparative evidence of lifespan at a residence. - Coastal Group PBK finish: A Coastal Group brochure published or crawled in 2026 reports a 1,000-hour ASTM B117:2019 test for its PBK finish on the hardware described in that brochure. That test is not evidence about the NANZ or Borg products. Verify the underlying report and which components it covers before using it to compare products. Coastal Group brochure.
- Real-world service life: The cited product and test claims do not establish an average lifespan or rank these candidates by years of service in a coastal home.
Buying and installation checklist
- Application: Decide whether you need a keyed residential entry lock, a mechanical combination lock, or a separate padlock for a gate or storage area.
- Materials: Check the stated materials for the body and exposed hardware, as well as internal parts. A general “marine” description does not prove that all components use the same alloy.
- Door fit: Verify thickness, latch and backset requirements, handing, strike, cylinder, handle and lock configuration against the exact model and your door.
- Building and security requirements: Confirm any required security grade, fire-door listing and egress needs with the manufacturer or a qualified installer, and check applicable local code. The product information cited here does not provide an independent comparison of those requirements across candidates.
- Availability and support: Check current regional stock, compatible replacement parts, warranty terms and installation support directly with the seller or manufacturer. Current Amazon availability is not established by the cited sources.
