For a typical one-keg kegerator, choose a cylinder-mounted primary CO₂ beer regulator with an inlet and outlet that match your cylinder and gas line. An adjustable model with an output-pressure gauge is useful when you need to set and monitor dispensing pressure. If several kegs need different pressures, add a downstream secondary regulator for independent control; it does not replace the primary regulator.
Primary or secondary: which regulator does your setup need?
Primary regulator for a single keg
A primary regulator attaches to the CO₂ supply and reduces cylinder pressure to a usable dispensing pressure. Micro Matic describes its primary regulators as suitable for a single-pressure, single-keg application or for supplying secondary regulators downstream. For a basic kegerator with one keg, this is the regulator to start with.
Secondary regulator for separate keg pressures
A secondary regulator sits downstream of the primary regulator and controls pressure to one or more individual kegs. Micro Matic’s 8044-PP is a four-output example: it reduces pressure supplied by a primary regulator or gas blender and provides lower pressure to each keg. Choose this type when your system needs multiple independently controlled pressures, not as a cylinder-mounted replacement.
What to compare before choosing
- Connections: Verify the cylinder inlet standard and the regulator’s outlet fitting against your actual cylinder and gas line. Standards and fittings are not automatically interchangeable.
- Adjustment: An adjustable regulator lets you set pressure for your beer and serving conditions. A preset model may suit a system that does not need adjustment, but confirm its fixed output is appropriate.
- Gauges: An output gauge shows regulated dispensing pressure. A cylinder gauge indicates cylinder pressure; it should not be treated as a precise measure of remaining CO₂ under all conditions.
- Outputs: A single keg typically needs one controlled gas line. For different pressures across multiple kegs, use a suitable secondary regulator with enough outputs.
- Shutoff, check valve, and relief: These features vary by model. Check the manufacturer’s specifications and do not assume one model’s relief threshold applies to another.

- Hold Constant Pressure & Lock PSI Settings: Hilangsan dual stage kegerator co2 regulator reduces the high pressure in two steps for maintaining the constant output pressure, which achieves a stable output pressure. Adjustment knob of the kegerator regulator has a locking nut that locks the PSI to prevent accidental "bumped/turned" from adjusting your PSI. A professional CO2 regulator for draft beer dispenser systems.
- Easy-to-Adjust Knob & Safety Relief Valve: Knurled adjustment knobs of the beer keg regulators are easy to grip and turn for precise fine-tuning CO2 levels from 0-50psi. The shut-off valve of the co2 regulator can be closed only by turning 90°, no need to turn multiple turns. The pressure relief valve will automatically release the keg pressure at around 50psi pressure for safety (not a leak).
- Precise and Clear Gauges: The top gauge(0-60psi) of kegerator regulator has an appropriate scale range to allow for precise fine-tuning of keg pressure. The left gauge (0-3000psi) is convenient for monitoring the amount of CO2 in the tank at any time. The shockproof case can protect the CO2 regulator gauges, making the gauges more durable.
- Solid Constructions & No Leak: Heavy-duty chrome-plated brass construction would last for years with no rust. The beer keg regulator is supplied with sealing washers. Pacing a washer between the CGA-320 inlet and the tank ensures a tight seal, no CO2 leak!
- Swivel Thread End Fitting: You can install a 1/4" barb or a 5/16" barb on the keg regulator as needed, allowing for a quick disconnect from your CO2 gas hose. Or attach your own push-on fitting to connect your EVA gas hose.

How to choose the right pressure
There is no single correct PSI for every beer. Pressure depends on the beer’s carbonation and temperature as well as the dispensing system. Taprite’s catalog gives 12–14 psi as guidance for most lager-type beers. Micro Matic’s example for beer at 38°F and 2.6 gas volumes is around 13–14 PSIG, while explicitly describing its flashlight test as inexact and warning that excessive pressure can overcarbonate beer.

- 【Professional Precision】 Dual gauge regulator displays output pressure and cylinder pressure. Each pressure gauge is fitted with a rubber protector to prevent breakage. Precise instrumentation ensures accurate reading, With an input pressure capacity of 0-3000 psi and an output pressure of 0-55 psi, you can rely on its accuracy and durability.
- 【Easy to Manually Adjust】 The CO2 regulator has a round knob to adjust the pressure value and a shut off value to control the output pressure. You can freely adjust the output pressure of carbon dioxide gas, thus controlling the foam texture of the beer, ensuring that the beer production process and results meet your needs and expectations, shut off value help easily and safely replace the keg or tank.
- 【Easy and Safe Pressure Relief】 We take your safety seriously, and integrated safety pressure relief valves (PRVS) ensure that the system does not overpressure, and simply manually pull them gently to reset the pressure of the CO2 regulator. About 45 psi automatic pressure relief, the regulator has a ball valve.
- 【Flexible Connection】 Our CO2 regulator allows easy installation of all standard CO2 tanks with CGA-320 interfaces. On the output side, we make 5/16" hose barbs (for I.D 5/16 hoses and I.D 1/4" hoses, and 3/8" quick couplings). In addition, we provide you with 2 additional sealing gaskets and hose clamps to ensure a secure connection without leakage.
- 【Chrome Plated Brass Body】 CO2 Barrel pressure regulator with heavy duty forged brass body is very enduring and is the perfect kegerator regulator for the home! Provide maximum convenience and durability in busy commercial environments such as bars, tasting rooms, and restaurants!
Micro Matic recommends keeping beer between 36°F and 38°F from keg to faucet for proper dispensing. Use beer-specific carbonation and temperature information to guide adjustment rather than treating either manufacturer example as universal. The Taprite beverage equipment catalog and Micro Matic flashlight-test guidance provide the cited examples.
Installation and safety checks
- Identify your CO₂ cylinder connection and gas-line fitting, then confirm they match the exact regulator model.
- Install and operate the regulator according to the manufacturer’s instructions for that model and cylinder.
- Set an adjustable regulator to a pressure appropriate to the beer and serving conditions; monitor the output gauge if the model has one.
- For servicing or replacement, use instructions and parts specified for the exact regulator. Taprite provides regulator manuals and product instructions; a replacement gauge is not universally compatible.
Do not confuse a regulator’s working or adjustment range with its pressure-relief setting. For example, Taprite’s catalog states that Series 740 primary regulators dispense up to 50 pounds and have a safety blow-off pressure of 60±5 psi. Micro Matic separately states a 55–65 PSI relief range for both the 840-PP and 8044-PP. These are model- or series-specific manufacturer specifications.

Decision guide
- One keg, adjustable pressure desired: Choose a compatible primary regulator with an output gauge; decide whether a cylinder gauge is also useful.
- One keg, preset output acceptable: A gaugeless preset primary such as the 840-PP is a possible configuration, provided its 30 PSIG preset and fittings suit the system.
- Multiple kegs at different pressures: Use a primary regulator at the CO₂ supply and add a secondary regulator with sufficient independently controlled outputs.
- Commercial or high-flow application: Consider products specified for that use, but do not assume a high-flow design is necessary for an ordinary home kegerator.
Micro Matic also lists a regulator, brewery-approved CO₂ pressure hose, keg coupler, beer line, and optionally a cleaning kit among the parts or options for a conversion setup; compatibility depends on the particular system. See its kegerator conversion-kit guidance.
