Platinum Plus is the clearest pick if you want the top tier in Cascade’s own selector. The company markets it for difficult dried-on messes and food residue. That positioning is a manufacturer claim, not a guarantee that every load will come out spotless; results can vary with the dishwasher and water conditions.
For dried-on food at the next tier: Platinum
Cascade says Platinum ActionPacs scrub dried-on food without prewashing. Choose it if that feature matters but you do not need the line Cascade places above it.

For an unscented option: Free & Clear
Look for the unscented Free & Clear variant if you want to avoid added perfume. Cascade also sells a lemon-scented version in this line, so confirm the scent and formulation on the current package rather than relying on the line name alone.

Pods do not solve every spot or film problem
Food residue and water spots are different problems. If dishes are clean but come out with spots or a filmy look, Cascade recommends considering rinse aid, which supports drying and spot prevention. What to know about Cascade’s water-saving claim

How to compare value
There is no established universal price-per-pod winner: retailer prices and package counts vary. Compare the current total price and pod count for the specific variants you are considering, then calculate the price per pod. A higher tier is not automatically better value if your needs are modest, and a price comparison only helps when the package sizes and current listings are clear.
