If you want one appliance to wash and dry a load without moving it between machines, the best-supported picks here are three all-in-one washer-dryer combos—not 15 independently tested models. Good Housekeeping’s 2026-updated guide names the Samsung Bespoke AI All-in-One Vented Combo best overall, the GE Profile UltraFast best for ventless installation, and the LG WashCombo a value and smaller-footprint option. The right choice depends first on whether you can vent outdoors, then on capacity, fit, fabric care and the time your loads take.
Best all-in-one washer-dryer combos at a glance
| Pick | Installation | Capacity | What Good Housekeeping reported | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Samsung Bespoke AI All-in-One Vented Combo | Vented; requires outdoor venting | 5.3 cu. ft. | Its standard cotton test load was clean after 42 minutes; a smaller Super Speed wash finished in 28 minutes; an 8-pound drying load was ready to fold in under an hour. | Some towels reached 170°F on high heat, the washed load retained slightly more moisture than competing combos, and the door opening is small. |
| GE Profile UltraFast Combo Washer & Dryer | Ventless; no outdoor vent required | 4.8 cu. ft. | Over 90% removal of tough test soils, strong moisture extraction, and about two hours for a medium load to wash and dry in its evaluation. | The normal wash cycle was relatively aggressive on test swatches; its listed height is 47 inches. |
| LG All-in-One WashCombo Electric Washer Dryer | Ventless | 5.0 cu. ft. | Over 90% stain removal; the test load finished dry, with a $13 annual energy-cost estimate in the guide’s evaluation. | The load took about 30 minutes longer to dry than the GE’s, and testers found the digital dial less immediately convenient. |
These are findings reported by Good Housekeeping, not independent tests conducted for this article. The guide evaluates cleaning, cycle duration, moisture removal, gentleness, dryness, heat and usability using standardized loads and test materials. Results from a lab load are useful for comparison, but do not guarantee the same time or performance with a different load, cycle or home setup.

Which washer-dryer combo should you choose?
Samsung Bespoke AI All-in-One: best overall if you have a vent
Good Housekeeping names the Samsung its best overall combo. Its evaluation reported fast wash results and an 8-pound drying load ready to fold in under an hour. The model identified on Samsung’s U.S. site is WD90F53AVBUS, a 5.3-cu.-ft. vented combo. Check that your laundry area can connect to an outdoor exhaust vent before choosing it. Good Housekeeping’s combo guide and Samsung’s U.S. product page provide the cited evaluation and product details.
The speed results are not a promise for every household load. Good Housekeeping also found that the washed load retained slightly more moisture than competing combos, some towels reached 170°F on high heat, and the door opening was small. Consider whether that opening suits bulky items and whether high-heat drying fits the fabrics you wash.

GE Profile UltraFast: best for a ventless setup
The GE Profile is the clearest choice among these three if you cannot run an outdoor vent. Good Housekeeping lists it at 4.8 cu. ft. and reports that a medium load took about two hours from wash through dry in its evaluation. The guide also reports more than 90% removal of tough test soils and especially strong moisture extraction. Its normal wash cycle was relatively aggressive on test swatches, and the listed 47-inch height can make installation a tighter fit than a conventional washer. The guide does not establish the exact model number of the unit it tested, so verify the model and dimensions of the product you are considering.
LG WashCombo: value-oriented ventless option
Good Housekeeping’s LG pick has a listed 5.0-cu.-ft. capacity and does not require outdoor venting. The guide reports more than 90% stain removal and says its test load finished dry, though drying took about 30 minutes longer than the GE’s. It also gives an annual energy-cost estimate of $13 for its evaluation; that is not a guaranteed household bill, since use and utility rates vary. Testers found the digital dial less immediately convenient. LG’s official page names WM6998HBA as an eligible combo model, but the guide’s tested-model passage does not confirm that this was the exact unit evaluated. How to choose a combo for your home
Start with vent access and installation dimensions
A vented combo expels warm, moist air outdoors; a ventless model does not need that outdoor exhaust connection, though it still needs the utilities and clearances specified by its manufacturer. Of these picks, the cited Samsung is vented, while the GE and LG do not require outdoor venting. Confirm the exact model’s installation manual for water, drain, electrical, clearance and door-swing requirements. Measure the route into the laundry area as well as the space where the appliance will sit; a 47-inch-tall model may not fit beneath shelving or a counter.

A combo uses the same drum for both stages, and its maximum wash capacity may not be the amount it can dry effectively in one go. The three U.S. product capacities above are product-guide listings; they are not a direct comparison of independently confirmed wash and dry capacities. For context only, Which?’s UK category guide says freestanding washer-dryers typically handle around 8 kg washing and 5 kg drying, while integrated models tend toward around 7 kg washing and 5 kg drying. Those are category-level UK figures, not specifications for the U.S. models in this article. Check the capacity label and manual for the exact appliance and market. Which?’s washer-dryer buying guide explains the category distinction.

Plan around full wash-to-dry time
Ask how long a complete cycle takes for the load size you usually run—not just how quickly a wash-only cycle ends. ENERGY STAR’s October 2024 laundry fact sheet describes all-in-one washer/dryer units as allowing a wash and dry in an estimated 1.5–2 hours without transferring the load. That is broad guidance, not a guaranteed runtime for a particular model, load or cycle. Good Housekeeping’s results also differ by machine and test load: its Samsung figures include a standard cotton test load clean after 42 minutes and a separate 8-pound drying load ready to fold in under an hour, while its GE medium-load wash-to-dry evaluation took about two hours. Those results describe different test conditions and should not be treated as an apples-to-apples promise for household loads. ENERGY STAR’s October 2024 laundry fact sheet gives the category estimate.
Think about fabric care, moisture and workflow
- If you regularly dry delicate or heat-sensitive items, check cycle settings and temperature guidance in the manual; Good Housekeeping’s high-heat towel readings for the Samsung are a reason to pay attention to fabric care.
- Moisture left after washing affects drying time. The guide found especially strong moisture extraction on the GE and slightly more retained moisture in the Samsung washed load than in competing combos.
- Try the controls in person if possible, or review the manual and interface details. Testers found the LG’s digital dial less immediately convenient.
- A combo avoids transferring wet laundry and can save floor space. A separate washer and dryer can wash one load while drying another, so a combo may be slower for a household processing several loads back-to-back.
What the test results do—and do not—tell you
Good Housekeeping’s guide assesses soil removal, cycle duration, moisture removal, gentleness, dryness, heat and usability. Its methods include pre-stained fabric strips measured for reflectance, torn-hole cotton swatches, identically dampened loads, moisture measurements and temperature strips. The reported stain-removal percentages, runtime observations and energy-cost estimate belong to that guide’s evaluation; they are not universal outcomes or guarantees. Exact tested model IDs for the GE and LG were not established in the reviewed guide passage, so compare the named product and current manufacturer model information before buying.
ENERGY STAR’s 2024 fact sheet says that if all clothes washers sold in the United States were ENERGY STAR certified, annual carbon pollution would be reduced by more than 19 billion pounds, equivalent to 1.8 million vehicles; its corresponding conditional estimate for all U.S. clothes dryers is more than 22 billion pounds, equivalent to 2 million vehicles. These are nationwide what-if estimates, not savings attributable to one appliance. The same fact sheet says ENERGY STAR certified heat-pump clothes dryers use around 70% less energy than conventional dryers; that figure applies to certified heat-pump dryers, not automatically to every washer-dryer combo. Verify a specific model’s current certification in the ENERGY STAR product finder, and check local rebate rules and eligibility before counting on an incentive.
