Choose adhesive by the exact panel system, its material, and the wall substrate—and follow that panel’s current installation guide. For example, Palisade lists Loctite Power Grab Ultimate in white formula among the adhesives it recommends for its PVC panels, while Showerwall specifies different fitting products for its acrylic and laminate panels.
How to choose adhesive for shower wall panels
- Identify the panel and product line. PVC, acrylic, laminate, and solid-surface panels can have different adhesive requirements. Find the installation guide for the exact panels rather than relying on a general recommendation.
- Check the substrate. Confirm that the approved adhesive works with the actual wall surface, such as tile, wallboard, timber, or another specified material. A product suitable for one surface or panel is not automatically suitable for another.
- Use the specified joint and perimeter sealants. Adhesive bonds panels to the wall; it does not by itself establish that the finished enclosure is waterproof. Follow the panel guide for seams, edges, clearances, and sealing.
- Follow preparation and curing directions. Prepare the wall and apply, press, support, and cure the panels as directed by both the panel and adhesive manufacturers.

What if the wall has AquaDefense?
Do not assume that an adhesive is compatible with a waterproofing membrane simply because it is suitable for the panel material. The manufacturer guidance above does not establish that the named adhesives can be applied over AquaDefense. Check the panel maker’s current instructions and obtain compatibility guidance for the specific membrane, adhesive, and panel combination before proceeding. If the installation documents do not approve that combination, do not treat it as an approved method.
Preparation, support, and waterproofing details
Prepare the surface
DreamLine’s Q-Wall 2 manual calls for a dry, smooth, clean surface and an adhesive that is both acrylic-safe and suitable for the wall material. Apply the same care to any other system: follow its stated surface-preparation requirements rather than covering contaminants or unevenness with adhesive.
Hold panels in place as directed
Wetwall describes pressing panels to ensure adhesive contact and bracing them where needed while the adhesive holds. Use the support method and timing specified in your panel and adhesive instructions; requirements can vary by system. Wetwall installation guide

Seal joins and edges
Joint sealant and perimeter details are part of the enclosure installation. Wetwall describes sealing its tongue-and-groove joints; Palisade and Lico also direct installers to follow their product instructions for a waterproof enclosure. Match the sealant, joint treatment, and clearances to the exact panel guide.

- Verify that the approved adhesive works with both the panel material and the wall substrate.
- Check the manufacturer’s required sealant for joins, edges, and penetrations.
- Follow the adhesive label for surface preparation, application, open time, and cure, alongside the panel maker’s instructions.
- Check regional guidance and local wet-area requirements where applicable.
Manufacturer recommendations are system-specific and may change. Palisade and Lico both emphasize following their installation instructions; a listed adhesive alone is not proof that a different panel, substrate, or waterproofing method is suitable.
