- Read the shelf instructions first. Confirm that adhesive mounting is allowed. Some shelves are designed only for screws, anchors, or a particular adhesive.
- Identify both bonding surfaces. Check the exact wall finish and the shelf material. “Tile” does not automatically mean every grout, coating, waterproof membrane, or tile treatment is compatible.
- Check the load and geometry. Estimate the weight of the items when wet and full. A shelf that projects from the wall creates more leverage than a flat-mounted accessory.
- Choose the correct product category. Use a construction adhesive intended for the materials and wet-area application when a structural bond is required. Do not substitute flexible sealant merely because it is waterproof.
