Official Bambu Lab pages have shown the standalone printer at $399, $629, and $699, with at least one page marking it sold out. Check the live product page, selected variant, stock status, shipping estimate, and final cart total before buying.
At $399, the P1S is a compelling enclosed CoreXY 3D printer for beginners who want fast PLA and PETG printing, plus occasional ABS or ASA work. It is less attractive at $629–$699, and it is not the right choice for everyone: the standard printer does not include the AMS multicolor system, has no heated chamber, and needs hardware upgrades for regular abrasive fiber-filled filament.

What the $399 Bambu Lab P1S deal includes
The advertised offer is for the standalone P1S unless the listing explicitly says “Combo.” The standalone printer does not include Bambu Lab’s AMS automatic material system. The P1S Combo adds an AMS for automated filament handling and multicolor printing, while current Bambu listings may also show configurations involving the AMS 2 Pro, hub, buffer, and cables. Compare the exact package rather than comparing headline prices alone.

That is a substantial discount against the stated reference price, and it has appeared on Bambu’s own sale and product pages. It should not automatically be described as an all-time record low or proof that $699 is the printer’s typical recent street price. Historical prices can differ by region, variant, refurbished status, and whether the package includes an AMS. Bambu’s anniversary-sale page documents the $399-versus-$699 presentation.
How to verify the deal before ordering
- Open the live Bambu Lab US P1S product page.
- Select P1S, not P1S Combo, AMS 2 Pro, or another configuration.
- Confirm that the product price is actually $399.
- Confirm that the product is marked in stock and has a shipping estimate.
- Check the seller, return terms, tax, shipping, and final cart total.
The official collection and storefront results have disagreed on both price and inventory, so “back in stock” should be treated as a live-check claim, not a permanent product fact.
What makes the P1S attractive
The P1S is an enclosed CoreXY fused-deposition-modeling printer with a 256 × 256 × 256 mm build volume. That gives beginners enough space for many household parts, workshop fixtures, organizers, brackets, replacement components, and prototypes without moving into a large-format machine.

Enclosure and automatic calibration
The enclosure helps maintain a more controlled printing environment than an open-frame printer and makes the P1S more suitable for materials such as ABS and ASA. Bambu also lists an auxiliary part-cooling fan, chamber-regulator fan, control-board fan, and activated-carbon filter compared with the open-frame P1P. The filter does not make emissions harmless, however; use sensible ventilation, especially with materials that produce noticeable odors or emissions.
Automatic bed leveling and vibration compensation reduce the calibration work that traditionally discourages first-time users. Bambu advertises setup in approximately 15 minutes, but that estimate is not the same as completing your first successful print. You still need to load filament, prepare a model in a slicer, place the printer on a stable surface, and learn the basic maintenance routine.
How fast is it really?
The P1S has a manufacturer-rated maximum toolhead speed of 500 mm/s and maximum acceleration of 20,000 mm/s2. Those are motion-system limits, not a promise that every model or material will print at 500 mm/s.

- Active Flow Rate Compensation: Achieve consistently smooth prints with active flow rate compensation. The algorithm actively compensates the flow rate according to the readings to extrude with accuracy, ensuring flawless prints.
Actual print time depends on layer height, wall count, infill, cooling, filament, model geometry, and acceleration settings. High-speed printing can also increase noise and expose weaknesses in filament quality or cooling. Bambu advertises an 18-minute Benchy under specified conditions; that figure should be understood as a manufacturer demonstration rather than a universal result.
Materials: where the P1S fits
Bambu lists PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS, ASA, PVA, and PET among the printer’s ideal or supported materials, with PA and PC listed as capable. For a first printer, the practical starting point is simpler:
- PLA: The easiest general-purpose material for learning, models, organizers, and many low-stress parts.
- PETG: A useful next step when you need more toughness or temperature resistance, though it can require more attention to stringing and plate adhesion.
- TPU: Flexible and useful for feet, seals, and protective parts, but more demanding to feed and tune.
- ABS and ASA: The enclosure is an advantage, but these materials still need appropriate thermal settings and ventilation. Large parts can warp.
- PA and PC: Technically capable materials that are more demanding than beginner PLA or PETG.
The stock 0.4 mm stainless-steel nozzle is not the correct long-term setup for regular carbon-fiber- or glass-fiber-filled filament. Bambu says fiber-reinforced filaments require an upgraded extruder and hotend. Do not treat the P1S as ready for abrasive engineering filament without those upgrades.
What beginners still need to learn
Automatic calibration removes much of the initial tuning, but the P1S is not maintenance-free. New owners should expect to learn how to:

The printer includes a build plate, stainless-steel hotend/nozzle, power cable, accessory box, unclogging tool, and a small amount of Bambu PLA according to the product listing. You will still need additional filament for meaningful projects, a suitable computer or mobile device for slicing and control, and a sturdy, level surface. The printer is also audible during operation, so a workbench or utility area may be preferable to a bedroom or quiet office.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.P1S standalone or P1S Combo?
Choose the standalone P1S when you mainly print one color at a time, want the lowest upfront price, or prefer to add material-management hardware only if you later need it.
Choose the P1S Combo when multicolor printing and automatic spool switching are central goals and the added cost fits your budget. The AMS can make material changes more convenient, but multicolor printing generally adds purge waste and print time. Verify which AMS generation and supporting components are included in the selected package; current storefront listings expose multiple configurations and changing prices.

P1S versus cheaper Bambu alternatives
| Model | Best fit | Main compromise |
|---|---|---|
| P1S standalone | Beginners wanting an enclosed, fast CoreXY printer | No included AMS; no heated chamber; older interface and camera |
| P1S Combo | Users who want integrated multicolor and automatic filament switching | Higher total cost, more waste, and longer multicolor prints |
| Bambu A1 | PLA/PETG beginners seeking a lower-cost Bambu entry point | Open-frame design; poorer fit for ABS and ASA |
| Bambu P1P | Users who want similar P1-series positioning without an enclosure | Less controlled environment and less suitable for higher-temperature materials |
The Bambu A1 has appeared in official listings at $349 versus $399, making it worth considering if your projects are primarily PLA and PETG. The P1P has also appeared at $399 versus $699, but its open-frame design removes one of the P1S’s main advantages.
The P1S is an older platform than Bambu’s newer models. Buyers who value a larger, more advanced display, newer sensing features, or a more sophisticated monitoring system should compare current-generation printers before committing. The P1S’s 1280 × 720 camera is described as low-rate, and its display and sensing are less advanced than those of Bambu’s X1-class machines.
Important limitations before buying
- No heated chamber: An enclosure helps with drafts and temperature stability, but it is not a temperature-controlled heated build chamber for demanding engineering materials.
- Not a fiber-filament machine out of the box: Regular abrasive carbon-fiber and glass-fiber use requires hardware upgrades.
- Not silent: High-speed motion produces operational noise.
- Not maintenance-free: Adhesion, clogs, debris, and filament handling can still cause failed prints.
- Cloud control is not guaranteed: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Bambu-Bus connectivity are supported, but local or SD-card workflows can be useful fallbacks when app or network control is unavailable.
- Ecosystem dependence: Bambu’s integrated software and accessories reduce setup friction, but buyers should consider their comfort with the company’s software, cloud features, accessories, and regional policies.
Who should buy the P1S at $399?
Buy it if the live listing confirms a new, supported standalone P1S at $399, you want an enclosure and fast workflow, and your realistic materials are PLA, PETG, TPU, or occasional ABS and ASA. For construction-related prototyping and workshop use, its enclosed 256-mm build volume and automated setup can be useful for small fixtures, templates, brackets, cable-management parts, and fit-check models.
Wait and compare if the price has returned to $629–$699, you need a heated chamber, you want advanced sensing and monitoring, or you require multicolor hardware included in the box.
