For most construction, workshop, and maker users, choose the Creality K1C if you need an enclosure, ABS/ASA, nylon, or carbon-fiber-filled filament. Choose the Bambu Lab P1P if you mainly print PLA or PETG, want its larger build area and polished Bambu Studio workflow, and find a well-supported unit at a substantially lower price.
This is not a perfectly current, like-for-like comparison. The P1P is an older open-frame printer, while the K1C is a newer enclosed model designed for more demanding materials. In 2026, check availability, warranty, firmware, spare parts, and the price of the newer Bambu P1S before buying a P1P.

Quick verdict
| Priority | Better choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| PLA, PETG and everyday parts | Bambu Lab P1P | Polished Bambu Studio workflow and a larger build volume. |
| ABS, ASA, nylon or PC | Creality K1C | Its factory enclosure makes temperature-sensitive materials more practical. |
| Carbon-fiber-filled filament | Creality K1C | It includes a steel-tipped/tri-metal nozzle and is marketed for abrasive materials. |
| Larger brackets, panels and organizers | Bambu Lab P1P | Its 256 mm square platform is larger than the K1C’s 220 mm platform. |
| Lowest advertised maximum speed | Creality K1C | Creality lists 600 mm/s versus 500 mm/s for the P1P, but this does not guarantee shorter real prints. |
| Factory enclosure without upgrades | Creality K1C | The P1P is open-frame and would need an enclosure for better environmental control. |
If a P1P is priced close to a Bambu Lab P1S, compare the P1S instead. Bambu positions the P1S as the enclosed version of the same general platform; current prices and stock vary by country and should be checked directly on Bambu’s comparison page.

The fundamental difference: open frame versus enclosure
The P1P and K1C are both fast CoreXY FDM printers, but they are aimed at different ownership experiences. The P1P launched as an open-frame machine for general-purpose printing. The K1C is enclosed and places more emphasis on engineering materials, monitoring, and abrasion resistance.

- Supported Filament: Ideal: PLA, PETG, TPU, PVA, PET ABS, ASA; Capable : PA, PC; Not Recommended: Carbon/Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer.
That difference matters more than the headline speed figures. An open printer is convenient to access and generally adequate for PLA, PETG and TPU. However, drafts, cold rooms and sudden temperature changes can cause warping or layer-separation problems with ABS, ASA, nylon and PC.
The K1C’s enclosure helps retain heat around the print. It is not an actively heated chamber: the chamber is warmed passively by the heated bed and printing process. An enclosure improves the conditions for demanding materials, but it does not remove the need for correct profiles, dry filament and suitable ventilation.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Build volume: a real advantage for the P1P
The P1P’s 256 × 256 × 256 mm build volume is substantially larger than the K1C’s 220 × 220 × 250 mm space. Based on the manufacturers’ nominal dimensions, the P1P offers approximately 16.4% more X/Y build area and about 26.5% more nominal volume.
That is useful when printing wide construction templates, electrical-box mock-ups, brackets, trays, organizers, panels, cosplay pieces or other parts that are awkward to split. The K1C is still tall enough for many practical components, but its narrower 220 mm platform is the limiting dimension for broad square parts.
These are manufacturer dimensions rather than independently measured usable volumes. Clips, purge lines, bed margins and model orientation can reduce the space available in practice.

Which printer is easier to set up?
Both machines reduce traditional 3D-printer setup through automatic bed-leveling and calibration systems. That makes either one far easier than an older manually tuned printer, but neither is maintenance-free.
P1P setup
- Remove packaging and transport protection.
- Install the build plate and load filament.
- Connect the printer to Bambu Studio or Bambu Handy.
- Run the recommended calibration routines.
- Select the correct printer and filament profile before sending a model.
Bambu Studio is generally the P1P’s strongest ease-of-use argument. Model import, printer selection, profiles, slicing, Wi-Fi transfer and remote monitoring are integrated into a coherent workflow. The optional AMS also provides a route to multi-colour or multi-material printing, although it adds hardware, cost and filament-management complexity.
K1C setup
- Remove the shipping supports and install the build plate.
- Load filament through the direct-drive system.
- Use the touchscreen or Creality Print to start automatic calibration.
- Connect through USB, Wi-Fi/LAN or Creality Cloud.
- Confirm the exact K1C or K1C 2025 profile and firmware version.
The K1C exposes more functions locally through its 4.3-inch touchscreen. Its camera and automatic systems can make monitoring more convenient. However, the quality of the experience depends on the relevant Creality Print version, firmware and support documentation. Cura 5.0 or later is listed as compatible by Creality, but using a third-party slicer may mean giving up some manufacturer-specific features.
What “easy” really means
Ease has several separate parts:
- Initial setup: how quickly the machine goes from unboxing to its first successful print.
- Software: how clearly the slicer handles profiles, transfers and monitoring.
- First-layer reliability: whether the plate is clean, level and correctly heated.
- Material handling: whether the printer and environment suit the filament.
- Maintenance: how easily nozzles, belts, fans, extruders and build plates can be serviced.
- Recovery: how straightforward it is to deal with runout, clogs, power loss, network problems and failed prints.
- Long-term ownership: firmware support, documentation, parts availability and ecosystem dependence.
Automatic leveling helps with one part of the process. It cannot compensate for a dirty plate, wet filament, a damaged nozzle, incorrect temperatures or a poor material profile.
Material-by-material choice
| Material | P1P | K1C | Practical verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| PLA | Well suited | Well suited | Both are appropriate. The P1P may be the simpler choice if you value Bambu Studio. |
| PETG | Well suited | Well suited | Drying and correct plate preparation still matter. |
| TPU | Supported | Supported | Flexible filament needs careful feeding and, where necessary, drying. |
| ABS/ASA | Listed as capable, but open-frame printing is more difficult | More practical because it is enclosed | K1C is the safer workshop choice, especially in a cold or drafty room. |
| PC | Capable with limitations | Listed as supported | K1C has the better starting hardware, but PC remains demanding. |
| Nylon/PA | More constrained | More suitable | Drying, adhesion and temperature control are essential. |
| Carbon-fibre-filled filament | Not recommended with the standard stainless nozzle | Designed for suitable CF-filled materials | K1C wins, but the base polymer and filament condition still determine difficulty. |
Bambu lists PLA, PETG, TPU, PVA and PET as ideal materials for the P1P, with ABS and ASA capable and PA, PC and fibre-reinforced materials subject to limitations. The K1C product information lists materials including ABS, ASA, PC, PA, PLA-CF, PA-CF and PET-CF.

It is not the same as manufacturing a continuous structural carbon-fibre composite. The abrasive fibres can wear a standard nozzle, while the polymer base—PLA, nylon, PET or PC—determines drying, warping and layer-adhesion requirements.

Creality specifically recommends drying moisture-sensitive materials such as PA, PA-CF and TPU and following the appropriate profiles in its K1C print-parameter guidance. Wet filament can produce stringing, bubbles, weak layers and inconsistent extrusion on either printer.
Speed: do not buy on 500 versus 600 mm/s
Creality gives the K1C a higher advertised maximum speed of 600 mm/s, compared with 500 mm/s for the P1P. That does not establish that the K1C is always 20% faster.
Real print time depends on layer height, acceleration, volumetric flow, cooling, infill, travel moves, geometry, filament and quality settings. Small parts may spend more time accelerating and travelling than printing. Large parts may be limited by the hotend’s ability to melt filament rather than by the motion system.

A meaningful comparison would use the same filament, layer height, model, quality target and slicer assumptions, then record not just estimated time but also failed prints and user intervention. Without controlled testing on the same versions and materials, the speed figures should remain manufacturer claims rather than a universal performance verdict.
Maintenance and repair considerations
P1P
- Keep the textured PEI plate clean and free from oils.
- Inspect the stainless nozzle and clear buildup or clogs safely.
- Check belts, idlers, fans and the toolhead cable.
- Lubricate the specified motion components when required.
- Replace the nozzle or hotend when worn.
- Clear jams through the filament path and extruder.
The P1P has steel extruder gears, a filament cutter and automatic calibration-related systems. Its mature community and Bambu ecosystem can make troubleshooting easier, although some advanced functions are tied to Bambu’s own workflow.
K1C
- Use safe nozzle temperatures and allow the hotend to cool before service.
- Inspect the direct-drive extruder and filament path for clogs.
- Clean the build plate and check the nozzle for wear.
- Inspect belts, fans, filters and motion components.
- Use the camera and diagnostics as monitoring aids, not guarantees.
- Keep suitable spare integrated nozzles available if abrasive filament is used regularly.
Creality advertises a quick-swap tri-metal nozzle and clog-resistant extruder, which are practical advantages for maintenance. That does not make the K1C immune to wear or failed prints. Verify local replacement-part availability and warranty support before purchase; neither brand should be assumed to be universally easier to repair.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Ownership cost: the P1P may not remain the cheaper option
The P1P’s lower base price can be misleading if your intended use requires upgrades. A demanding-material setup may need:
- An enclosure, with attention to ventilation and electronics cooling.
- A hardened nozzle or hotend.
- A filament dryer.
- Additional build plates and spare hotends.
- Appropriate profiles and materials.
Once those are included, compare the total against a factory-enclosed K1C and the Bambu P1S. An aftermarket P1P enclosure is not automatically equivalent to a printer designed and sold as enclosed: consider chamber temperature, electronics exposure, fire precautions, ventilation and access for maintenance.
The K1C may also need accessories, particularly a filament dryer for nylon, PA-CF, TPU and other hygroscopic materials, plus spare nozzles and build plates. For the K1C 2025, confirm whether the advertised CFS multi-colour accessory is available and compatible with the exact model and firmware.

Availability and model-version checks in 2026
Before ordering either printer, verify:
- The exact model: P1P, P1S, K1C or K1C 2025.
- Current stock and delivery location.
- Warranty terms in your country.
- Whether the seller is authorised.
- The included nozzle and build plate.
- Firmware version and update requirements.
- Spare-part availability.
- Return policy and replacement procedure.
- Whether AMS or CFS hardware is included or sold separately.
The P1P’s current sales status should be treated as “check before purchase,” not as confirmed discontinued. A historical price shown on an official comparison page is not proof of current availability or current pricing. Likewise, a K1C sale price should not be treated as permanent.
Who should buy the P1P?
Buy the P1P when you mainly print PLA, PETG, TPU or similar everyday materials; need the larger 256 mm build platform; value Bambu Studio and Bambu Handy; or want the option of Bambu’s AMS ecosystem. It is also reasonable for a home or workshop user who prefers easy access to an open machine and finds a new, supported unit at a meaningful discount.
Do not choose it simply because it is cheaper if you already know you need an enclosure, routine ABS/ASA printing or abrasive fibre-filled filament.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWho should buy the K1C?
Buy the K1C when you want a factory enclosure, plan to experiment with ABS, ASA, PC, nylon or suitable carbon-fibre-filled materials, or value a touchscreen, camera monitoring and quick-swap nozzle. It is the more practical machine for a cooler or draftier workshop and for buyers who do not want to retrofit an enclosure to an open-frame printer.
Still assess Creality Print, firmware history, local support and parts availability separately. Enclosure and carbon-fibre hardware do not guarantee the same software or ownership experience as Bambu.
When neither is the best purchase
Consider another route when:
- The P1P is close in price to the enclosed Bambu P1S.
- You mainly print PLA or PETG and want a newer Bambu option, making an A1-series model worth comparing despite its different motion system.
- The K1C is priced close to a P1S and you place greater value on Bambu’s integrated ecosystem.
- You prioritise open ecosystems, long-term repairability or community hardware and neither manufacturer’s trade-offs suit you.
For a construction workshop, the most sensible decision is usually material-led: everyday prototypes and larger PLA/PETG parts favour the P1P; enclosed engineering-material work favours the K1C. Then check the complete ownership cost and current support before treating either as the “easy” winner.
