Aqara announced three touchscreen-oriented smart-home controllers at CES 2025: the Panel Hub S1 Plus, Touchscreen Dial V1 and North American Touchscreen Switch S100 US. They are not interchangeable: the S1 Plus is a large wall dashboard and hub, the Dial V1 is a tactile room controller, and the S100 US is a conventional smart switch with a small touchscreen.

The announcement was made on January 6, 2025, but it did not mean that all three products launched worldwide at the same time. Aqara described staggered regional availability, with European versions expected first and North American availability varying by model. Current prices and listings also depend on the exact region and hardware version.

Aqara Smart Home Hub M3 for Advanced Automation, Matter Controller, IR
  • [Multi-Protocol Hub with Matter Bridge] The M3 is a versatile hub supporting Aqara Zigbee and Thread devices. It integrates third-party devices into the Aqara Home app. Supports advanced Matter bridge functionality, enabling Aqara-exclusive scenes and signals to sync with Matter ecosystems such as Home Assistant for seamless integration. Supports up to 127 Aqara Zigbee devices (** Not third-party Zigbee devices) and 127 Thread devices (Repeaters are needed).
  • [Edge Compatibilities and Local Automations] The M3 serves as an Edge Hub, prioritizing local control and automation. Upon integration, it supersedes existing Aqara hubs, shifting the automations among them to local operation (Some cloud-based notifications still require internet). Upgrade-friendly, it supports migrating Zigbee devices from older Aqara hubs.
  • [Smart IR Blaster with Feedback and Learning] The 360°IR blaster not only sends commands but also provides accurate status updates by detecting traditional remote use. It connects IR air conditioning units to Matter, functioning as an AC thermostat when paired with an Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensor. (Note: Only one AC device can be exposed to Matter. Functionality may vary based on the Matter integration app. For Apple Home exposure, use Matter integration instead of HomeKit.)
  • [Optimal Wired and Wireless Connectivity] Offering both wired and wireless solutions, the smart home hub M3 provides dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4/5 GHz) with advanced WPA3 security, and a Power over Ethernet (PoE) port. The addition of a USB-C port allows for mini-UPS and power bank connections, delivering unparalleled stability. (2A USB power adapter is not included. ) . Note: To ensure a stable connection, place the Hub M3 between 6 to 19 feet from the router.
  • [Privacy-Focused with Encrypted Storage, Easy Setup and Versatile Placement] The M3 prioritizes privacy by excluding microphone or camera components. It boasts 8GB end-to-end encrypted local storage, for device lists, configuration parameters, and automation configuration data. Additionally, it includes a mount and screws for flexible placement on flat surfaces, walls, or ceilings. Magic Pair technology ensures effortless detection by the Aqara Home app upon power-up.

It can control and automate up to two wired lights in the announced configuration, while also displaying Aqara devices and scenes. Aqara lists control for categories including lights, curtains, thermostats, locks and cameras. The panel can show supported Aqara camera live views and interact with Aqara doorbell-camera integrations, although it should not be treated as a universal security-monitor display.

The S1 Plus also combines several pieces of infrastructure:

  • Dual-band Wi-Fi for network connectivity.
  • An Aqara Zigbee hub for compatible Aqara devices.
  • A Matter bridge for supported Aqara Zigbee devices.
  • A permanent screen for scenes and device cards without reaching for a phone.

Current Aqara support documentation identifies multiple versions, including switch, PoE and desktop variants. The switch version supports a three-way relay and relay-connected lights. The PoE version uses Ethernet for power and networking, while the desktop version can sit on a table rather than being installed in a wall. Aqara also notes that the desktop version does not expose a relay switch in Apple Home.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That version distinction matters during installation. “Panel Hub S1 Plus” does not necessarily describe one globally identical product. A buyer should confirm whether the listing is for the wall-switch, PoE or desktop model, and whether the version supports the wiring and platform behavior required for the project.

What the S1 Plus does not mean

The S1 Plus is not automatically a universal dashboard for every smart-home brand. Aqara’s support material says Matter devices must first be connected to Aqara Home, after which supported device categories can be added as cards to the panel. A device that appears in Apple Home, Google Home or Alexa may not expose the same controls through the S1 Plus interface.

It is therefore best suited to an Aqara-centered installation, particularly one that benefits from a fixed location for scenes, climate controls, locks and camera access.

Aqara Smart Thermostat W200 with Apple Adaptive Temperature
  • Apple Adaptive Temperature - With the Apple Home app, Adaptive Temperature uses your iPhone to adjust the thermostat based on activity states like 'home', 'sleep', 'away' and 'extended away'. This provides comfort upon arrival home and saves energy when away, without the complicated steps of creating or managing schedules. (Note: Adaptive Temperature requires a home hub (Apple TV or HomePod) and an iPhone or Apple Watch, all running version 26 or later.)
  • Apple Clean Energy Guidance: Smarter Energy Savings - With the Apple Home app, Clean Energy Guidance makes small temperature adjustments to use cleaner grid times when electricity may cost less, while maintaining comfort. The forecast is personalized for your home location using environmental and grid data. (Note: Clean Energy Guidance is available only in the contiguous U.S.)
  • Easy Installation with Wide HVAC Compatibility - Designed to fit most homes, W200 works with about 85% of HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, and PTAC units. No C-wire? Simply add the Aqara C-Wire Adapter (sold separately) for stable power. We even include a trim kit to easily cover old wiring and keep your wall looking clean and fresh.
  • Functions as a Smart Display for Your Front Door - W200 works as a visual control panel for your Aqara video doorbell (only compatible with G410/G400, G4 excluded) and smart lock, showing visitor snapshots right on the screen and letting you unlock the door with a simple tap. No need to open an app on your phone or run to the door.
  • Control Your Climate Your Way: App, Voice Assistant, or One-Tap Button Control – You can manually adjust the temperature via the app, or through voice assistants like Alexa or Siri when connected. You can also use the W100 wireless sensor (sold separately) for quick one-tap physical control. Perfect for easy changes from the couch, bed, or anywhere in your home.

Touchscreen Dial V1: tactile control with environmental sensing

The Touchscreen Dial V1 is aimed at users who want physical interaction rather than an entirely flat touchscreen. Its rotary dial provides haptic feedback and can adjust functions such as light dimming, color temperature, curtain position and thermostat settings. It can also control wired fixtures, wireless devices and scenes.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The controller includes temperature and humidity sensing, along with presence or proximity sensing that can wake the display when someone approaches. The current European listing describes two built-in wired-switch controls and six wireless switches in the default setup.

There is an important specification discrepancy. Aqara’s January 2025 CES announcement described the Dial V1 as having a 1.32-inch round touchscreen. The current European product page describes a 2.08-inch LCD screen with four labeled buttons. These figures should not be presented as though they unquestionably describe one unchanged global model. They may reflect a regional redesign, a product revision or inconsistent documentation.

The EU model is rated for 200–240V, 50/60Hz, with a maximum 8A resistive load. It measures 86 × 86 × 62.1mm. Those specifications apply to the European version and should not be generalized to a U.S. model that may have different electrical requirements.

The Dial V1 makes the most sense where a user regularly adjusts lighting, curtains or climate settings and wants a tactile control point. It is less compelling for a room that needs only simple on/off control, and it is not an appropriate drop-in U.S. replacement merely because the product name is similar.

Touchscreen Switch S100 US: the North American wall-switch option

The S100 US combines physical buttons with a 1.3-inch touchscreen. It is designed for North American installations that want familiar button-based lighting control while adding access to scenes, settings and other smart-home functions.

Aqara Smart Hub M100 for Home Automation, Matter Controller, Wi-Fi
  • Multi-Protocol Smart Hub with Matter Bridge – The M100 is a versatile smart hub compatible with Thread devices and Aqara Zigbee (** Not third-party Zigbee devices), supporting up to 20 Aqara Zigbee devices and 20 Thread devices. As a Matter Bridge, it connects Aqara Zigbee products to other smart home ecosystems, compatible with Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Home Assistant, etc. Note: Use a 5V⎓0.5A power adapter (not included) and keep the product continuously powered during use.
  • Advanced Matter Bridging for Seamless Smart Home Integration – The M100 enables Aqara’s unique features, such as facial recognition and complex automation, to work across Home Assistant and other Matter ecosystems. Expand your smart home with Aqara or third-party Matter devices (requires a Matter-enabled hub). Currently supports lights, thermostats, plugs, switches, buttons, and various sensors (motion, light, door/window, temperature/humidity), with more devices to be added in the future.
  • Local Automation for Reliable Performance – Supports local execution of automations for Zigbee and Matter devices, ensuring smooth operation even without Wi-Fi or cloud access. Enjoy millisecond-level response times for a more stable and reliable smart home experience. (Some automation, such as cloud push notification, will still require the cloud connection to be executed.)
  • Flexible Power & Small Size – Features a universal USB-A port for power and data, allowing connection to power banks, wall outlets, PCs, or routers for a simple and quick setup. The Hub M100's shaft can be adjusted within a 210-degree range, making its placement extremely flexible.
  • 2.4GHz Wi-Fi 6 for Faster & Security—This product supports a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi 6 wireless network connection, which enables more efficient connections with advanced WPA3 security. Wi-Fi 6 ensures smoother performance even in high-traffic environments, allowing multiple devices to connect without compromising speed or reliability. Note: To ensure a stable connection, place the Hub M100 between 6 to 19 feet from the router.

The switch supports two wired lighting channels and can control wireless devices and scenes. Its screen can be used for functions such as dimming and thermostat adjustments. A presence sensor can activate the interface when someone approaches, while a light sensor supports adaptive screen brightness.

Official specifications list:

  • Model WS-K06E.
  • 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Thread.
  • Matter over Wi-Fi support.
  • A built-in Thread Border Router.
  • 100–240V input at 50/60Hz.
  • Maximum incandescent load of 10A.
  • Maximum LED/CFL load of 400W.
  • Dimensions of 119 × 74 × 42mm.
  • Operating temperature of –10°C to 40°C.

Aqara’s U.S. store listed the S100 at $79.99 on August 18, 2026. That is a dated storefront snapshot, not a guarantee of a permanent price.

Matter and Thread limitations

Matter support does not make the S100 a hub-free universal controller. Aqara says a Matter hub for the chosen ecosystem is required for relevant Matter functions. In Apple Home, an iPhone running iOS 18 or later can add and control Matter devices locally, but automations, sharing and remote access require a home hub.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The S100’s Thread Border Router function is supported in Aqara Home and Samsung SmartThings, not universally across every platform. Aqara also says wireless buttons 1–6 are visible by default, while buttons 7 and 8 require setup in Aqara Home. These details are important for anyone expecting identical behavior in Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings and Aqara Home.

The related Display Switch V1 EU

Aqara’s CES announcement also mentioned the Display Switch V1 EU, which can easily cause confusion in product coverage. It is a related fourth product, not one of the three touchscreen products named in this article’s headline.

The Display Switch V1 EU is a two-channel smart switch with an LCD screen, configurable labels and additional wireless buttons. Aqara announced it alongside the European Touchscreen Dial V1, but its inclusion in the broader CES program should not be used to substitute it for the S100 US or imply that all four products share identical hardware.

What Aqara announced, and what was actually available

On January 6, 2025, Aqara said the products would be demonstrated at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, at booth #51455 in the Venetian Expo. The original announcement described the following rollout:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Panel Hub S1 Plus EU: expected later in January 2025.
  • Touchscreen Dial V1 EU: expected later in January 2025.
  • Display Switch V1 EU: expected alongside the European Dial.
  • North American Panel Hub S1 Plus: expected later in 2025.
  • Touchscreen Dial V1 US: expected later in 2025.
  • S100 US: announced as the North American model, without a specific launch price in the cited CES release.

Those were historical forecasts, not proof of simultaneous worldwide retail availability. As of the official storefront signals observed on August 18, 2026, the S100 US was listed in the United States at $79.99, while the European Touchscreen Dial V1 was listed at €149.99 or £149.99 depending on the storefront. The S1 Plus remains particularly version- and region-sensitive; current support documentation lists several variants, while independent coverage continues to describe its principal availability as focused on Europe and the UK rather than broadly established in the United States.

Installation and compatibility considerations

Check the electrical installation first

These products are not generic wireless tablets. The S1 Plus, Dial V1 and S100 variants are wired wall products or are based on wired switch hardware. Before purchase, check:

  • Whether a neutral wire is required and available.
  • Electrical-box depth and the device’s physical dimensions.
  • Voltage, frequency and regional certification.
  • Whether the load is incandescent, LED, CFL or another type.
  • Total wattage and relay limits.
  • Single-pole, multi-way or three-way wiring requirements.
  • Whether the exact variant exposes a relay in the intended platform.

Do not import an EU Dial or other regional model into a North American installation without confirming voltage, wiring, certification and platform support. If the wiring or load is uncertain, use a qualified electrician.

Separate the ecosystems

The products can involve several different layers of compatibility:

  • Aqara Home: the central configuration environment for Aqara devices, scenes and supported Matter devices.
  • Apple Home, Google Home and Alexa: supported to varying degrees depending on the product and exposed device categories.
  • Matter: a cross-platform standard, but not a promise that every device, scene or advanced control transfers identically.
  • Thread: a networking technology whose Border Router behavior depends on the ecosystem.
  • Zigbee: relevant to the S1 Plus’s Aqara hub and bridge functions.

Before choosing a controller, decide whether Aqara Home will be the primary system or whether another platform will remain the source of truth. The S1 Plus is most useful when Aqara devices and scenes are central. The S100 is more attractive to North American buyers who want a normal wall-switch form factor with Matter and Thread capabilities. The Dial V1 is strongest as a premium, tactile room controller.

Which Aqara touchscreen controller should you choose?

Choose the Panel Hub S1 Plus if you want a whole-home control point

Choose it for an Aqara-heavy home that needs a larger permanent display for lights, curtains, climate, locks, scenes and supported camera feeds. It is also the relevant choice if you want Aqara Zigbee hub and Matter-bridge functions in the same device.

Its drawbacks are installation complexity, regional hardware differences and the risk of paying for a large display when a conventional switch would solve the actual problem. Confirm the exact version and local availability before designing around it.

Choose the Touchscreen Dial V1 if tactile adjustment matters

The Dial V1 is the better fit for users who frequently dim lights, adjust thermostats, move curtains or trigger scenes and prefer a rotary control with haptic feedback. Its built-in environmental sensors add value in rooms where temperature, humidity or presence can drive automations.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Its main limitations are regional electrical compatibility, the disputed screen-size documentation and its dependence on Aqara’s configuration model for many advanced functions.

Choose the S100 US if you want a North American smart-switch replacement

The S100 US is the most conventional choice for a North American wall box. Physical buttons handle everyday lighting, while the small screen adds scene and settings access. It is a better fit than the S1 Plus when a full dashboard would be excessive.

It still requires appropriate wiring, load compatibility and ecosystem infrastructure for advanced Matter use. Its small screen complements a smart-home platform; it does not replace a full dashboard.

Consider a conventional switch or tablet instead

If the goal is simply reliable physical lighting control, a conventional Aqara Light Switch H2 or Dimmer Switch H2 may be more appropriate than a screen-equipped controller. A tablet-based wall dashboard can offer a larger and more flexible interface for renters or mixed-ecosystem homes, but it will not necessarily provide built-in relay control, Zigbee hub functions or the same wall-switch installation.
