AnMed Medical Center has begun construction on the AnMed Education and Innovation Center, a 30,000-square-foot, two-story training facility at 610 North Street in Anderson, South Carolina. The building, next to AnMed Medical Center, will expand Tri-County Technical College’s Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program and provide hospital-based simulation and clinical education.
What AnMed is building
The Education and Innovation Center is an education and workforce-development facility, not a new inpatient hospital wing. AnMed describes the project as a place where students, clinicians and educators can train together in an environment connected directly to a working medical center.

The two-story building will include collaborative areas, administrative offices, clinical classrooms and two simulation patient rooms. How many nursing students the project will add
Tri-County Technical College currently accepts 60 nursing students per semester, according to 2026 reporting by The Anderson Observer. The AnMed partnership is expected to add 100 students within five years, bringing enrollment across the college’s learning sites to 220 students.

What students will do through the partnership
Classroom and simulation instruction
Students will use the center’s clinical classrooms and simulation rooms to build practical skills alongside their academic coursework. The scenarios can be adapted for routine care, high-acuity situations, childbirth, surgery, emergency treatment and behavioral-health encounters.
Clinical rotations at AnMed
The partnership is expected to place students in clinical rotations at AnMed. Rotations give students supervised experience in a hospital setting and connect lessons in the center with the workflows, equipment and care teams they will encounter in practice.
Possible employment and mentorship
Students may receive paid part-time employment and mentorship from experienced healthcare providers. The available opportunities, eligibility rules and hiring timing were not specified in the cited announcement, so prospective students should confirm details directly with TCTC and AnMed.

Why the facility matters to Anderson’s healthcare workforce
AnMed and TCTC are presenting the project as a response to the nursing shortage affecting South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. Increasing the number of nursing students requires more than additional lecture seats: programs also need clinical instructors, simulation space and reliable placements where students can complete required practical training.
The center combines those needs with access to a hospital partner. TCTC’s goal is to increase ADN capacity and clinical-training access, while AnMed’s stated objective is to create more educational opportunities and strengthen the local healthcare workforce. The arrangement also gives students a potential path from education to local employment through rotations, mentorship and possible paid work.
TCTC President Galen DeHay summarized the partnership by saying, “No one organization can solve this challenge alone.” AnMed Chief Nursing Officer Shaunda Trotter said, “This partnership is about building the future of nursing from within our own community.”
