Alkimos Stage 2 opened in November 2024, and Western Australia’s 2025–26 budget lists both projects as completed works.
What changed after the 2022 announcement?
The original report, published on 21 April 2022, described the projects at different stages. Alkimos College Stage 2 was a funded expansion intended to add facilities and student capacity. At Yanchep Secondary College, the government had appointed an architect to lead Stage 3 design and planning.
Subsequent official updates record Alkimos Stage 2 as open and list both projects in the completed works section of the 2025–26 Western Australian budget. The later status is therefore different from the forward-looking language of the 2022 report.
What was included in Alkimos College Stage 2?
The 2022 announcement described a broad expansion, including a performing arts centre, dance and visual arts studios, student services, music and STEM spaces, and general and specialist classrooms. It projected 700 additional student places and expected delivery for the 2024 school year.

What is Yanchep Secondary College Stage 3?
Stage 3 was announced in April 2022 as a design-and-planning project, not as a construction completion announcement. The planned scope was two double-storey teaching blocks with mathematics and English learning areas. Armstrong Collective was appointed to lead the design and planning, which was expected to be completed in August 2022. The WA Government release put the design and planning project at $1 million.
