It has useful bedroom features on paper, including three speeds, a timer, remote control and oscillation, but Aldi’s specifications do not establish that it is independently quiet, effective at cooling a child’s room, or specifically safe for unattended overnight use. NHS advice is to circulate air rather than point a fan directly at a child.
What Aldi’s £39.99 fan offers
Aldi has advertised the product under both “Design Fan” and “Bladeless Fan.” Its UK press office announced it at £39.99 in May 2024, with an in-store launch on 6 June that year. Aldi said it had three speeds, a stated noise level of 56 dB, remote and digital touchpad controls, 60° left-to-right swivel, and fan speed up to 1,250 RPM. These are retailer-published specifications, not independent measurements. Aldi’s 2024 announcement
Aldi announced the fan’s return on 30 May 2025 at the same £39.99 price, with availability in stores from 5 June while stocks lasted. That announcement listed three speeds, Normal, Nature and Sleep modes, remote and touchpad controls, seven LED colour choices, 70° oscillation, and a stated 56 dB noise level. Aldi called it “whisper quiet”; that is the retailer’s description, not an independent noise test. Aldi’s 2025 announcement
Aldi’s Week 23 leaflet also lists a timer, fixed and oscillating settings, a remote, seven-colour LED lighting and a free three-year warranty. Its offer panel says “In store THUR 5 JUNE”; it is evidence of a dated promotion, not proof the fan is available now. Aldi Week 23 leaflet
#1 Best Overall
- BLADELESS CONSTRUCTION: The fan operates without exposed external blades, providing a safer environment for households with children and pets.
- CONTINUOUS CIRCULATION: Engineered to provide steady, continuous air movement throughout the room to prevent stagnant air, making it ideal for bedroom use while sleeping.
- 3 SPEED SETTINGS: Features Low, Medium, and High fan speeds, allowing you to select the appropriate level of air circulation for your space.
- 9-HOUR TIMER: Includes a programmable sleep timer that can be set to automatically shut off the fan in 1-hour increments, up to a maximum of 9 hours.
- WIDE-AREA OSCILLATION: The motorized oscillation function sweeps back and forth to distribute air consistently across a wider area of the room.
Is it suitable for a child’s bedroom?
It may be a practical way to circulate air, provided it is positioned and used appropriately, but the available product information is not enough to call this specific fan “safe for kids” or to recommend leaving it running unattended all night. The sources do not establish product-specific child-safety certification, overnight-use advice, real-world airflow performance, durability, or independently tested noise. “Bladeless” describes the design; by itself, it is not a safety endorsement.
The NHS says a fan can circulate air in a child’s room during hot weather and advises: “Do not aim the fan directly at your child as this could make them dehydrated.” For babies, the NHS gives 16°C to 20°C as a comfortable sleeping-room temperature. These are general care guidelines, not a product endorsement or a guarantee that a fan will keep a room within that range. NHS guidance on keeping your baby safe in the sun

- 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 5 fan speeds and 4 fan modes (Normal, Turbo, Sleep, and Auto) give you the ideal airflow for any situation
- 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗱 & 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻: Adjust settings from bed or the couch with the remote, and when needed, simply remove the back grille for a quick cleaning. The slim design fits perfectly in any bedroom, living room, or office
For heat more broadly, the NHS says electric fans can help when the temperature is below 35°C and advises checking room temperatures, particularly for people at higher risk. A fan moves air; do not treat it as a substitute for checking a child’s condition or responding to signs of heat illness. NHS heatwave advice
How to assess it before using it overnight
- Check the room, not just the fan setting. Use a room thermometer and adjust the room’s cooling approach to the actual temperature. For a baby, the NHS’s comfortable sleeping-room range is 16°C to 20°C.
- Do not direct airflow at the child. Set the fan to circulate air around the room, following NHS advice.
- Check the exact unit’s instructions. The cited Aldi announcements and leaflet do not establish whether this model is intended to run unattended overnight. Follow the instructions supplied with the fan and its timer settings.
- Do not infer quietness from the headline figure. The 56 dB figure is Aldi’s stated level; no independent test or measurement conditions are provided in the cited product material.
- Recheck availability and terms. The £39.99 price and three-year warranty appear in dated Aldi promotions; verify the terms for any current listing rather than assuming the old offer remains active.
How it compares with a premium bladeless fan
The comparison below is limited to what the cited product pages state; it is not a controlled performance test. Aldi’s figures come from its seasonal 2025 announcement and Week 23 leaflet, while Dyson’s figure is from its current UK Cool CF1 product page.
