In July 2017, a car crashed into Ken and Kelly Downs’s Waco home, which had appeared on HGTV’s Fixer Upper. The crash brought damage to the house, but Kelly Downs’s reported frustration also concerned commotion from nearby businesses and what the couple felt they had been told before moving in. Those complaints are the homeowners’ account; the available reporting does not establish that the neighborhood was unsafe or that anyone failed to disclose information.
Which Fixer Upper house was hit?
The homeowners were Ken and Kelly Downs. Retrospective coverage identifies their property as the “Three Little Pigs House,” featured in season 3, episode 12 of Fixer Upper. A contemporaneous 2017 report said the couple had moved to Waco seeking a home renovated by Magnolia Realty and had paid $215,000 to renovate the house. Those details were reported by The Inquisitr, not independently confirmed against transaction records. What happened in the crash?
The Inquisitr reported that a car struck the Downs’ two-story home early on July 8, 2017, damaging the front porch railing and part of the front wall. The couple were in their bedroom and were reported uninjured. The article identified the suspected driver as Allen Wayne Miller and reported that he was arrested for driving while intoxicated. No direct police or fire incident record is established in the available reporting, so these details should be understood as that article’s account.
Why did the homeowners say they were upset?
Kelly Downs described the problem as more than the crash itself. In remarks attributed to her by The List’s 2021 retrospective, she said: “There’s been a lot of commotion coming from the bars and the store across the street.” She also said: “We’ve lived here a year and a half and we feel deceived by the city of Waco and Magnolia Realty.”

These statements describe the Downs’ experience and perception. The reporting does not establish what neighborhood information was disclosed before the purchase, whether a disclosure obligation was breached, or whether the area was objectively unsafe. No response from the city of Waco, Magnolia Realty, or the show’s producers is reported in these sources.
What is known about the house now?
A 2023 retrospective said the family appeared to have moved out and that the home was being offered on Airbnb. That report does not confirm present ownership, the property’s condition, or whether it is currently available to rent. The List’s 2023 update is the latest status information in the available coverage.
