Samsung washing machines are made in more than one location. Samsung has documented washer production at its Newberry, South Carolina facility, while a 2016 company report documented washer production and exports from its Kaluga-region plant in Russia. Those records do not provide a complete current factory list or identify the origin of every model. To find where a particular washer was made, check its product label or instruction manual.
What Samsung’s factory records establish
Newberry, South Carolina
Samsung announced a $380 million investment in an appliance plant in Newberry County in 2017, with washing machines among the products it planned to make there. The company later reported that the facility began producing washers, including washer cabinets, inner tubs and bases. Samsung’s 2025 sustainability toolkit lists top-load washers, front-load washers and washer-dryer combos among products manufactured at the facility. Samsung said Newberry output would primarily serve U.S. consumers. In its 2017 U.S. facility FAQ, the company stated: “Products made in our South Carolina facility will primarily be sold to consumers in the U.S., which is our fastest growing home appliance market.” Samsung’s facility FAQ
Kaluga region, Russia: historical evidence
Samsung reported that its Kaluga-region plant began exporting washers in September 2016, with deliveries to 20 European countries. This establishes washer production and exports at that time; it does not establish whether the plant still operates or currently makes washers. Samsung’s 2016 report

How to check where a specific Samsung washer was made
- Look for the country-of-manufacture marking on the washer itself. Check the product label or plate.
- If the marking is not easy to find, consult the instruction manual for the exact washer.
- Use the country stated on that unit rather than inferring origin from the Samsung brand, the country where it is sold, or a general list of Samsung factories. Samsung’s regional FAQ directs customers to the appliance or manual for this information. Samsung’s country-of-manufacture FAQ
What the available records cannot tell you
The company sources document Newberry production and historical production in Russia, but they do not give a complete, current list of Samsung washer factories or map current model numbers to manufacturing locations. They also do not establish that every washer sold in the United States is made in the United States.
These records are not a basis for judging washer quality by country of manufacture. For a purchase decision, compare the specific models’ documented features, capacity, efficiency, price and warranty rather than treating country of origin as a quality rating.
