Some Samsung dryers can have their door swing reversed, but not all of them. Whether yours can depends on the exact model and the sales region it was built for. Start by finding your model code, then check Samsung’s support page for that model in your country. Samsung’s published steps are not a single procedure that applies to every dryer.
Step 1: Confirm your dryer model supports a reversible door
Look for the model code on your dryer’s rating label. Samsung’s support material describes the reversal procedure as varying slightly by model, so the code is the starting point for every other step. Search Samsung’s support site for that code and your country, then open the article for that model. If the model’s page or manual does not mention a reversible door, do not attempt the change on the assumption that a similar-looking dryer can be converted.
Step 2: Check eligibility for your region
Samsung publishes different eligibility statements by country. The table below summarises what each source establishes. Each entry is limited to the source’s own scope and date.

The Australian list is not a general eligibility rule. A dryer outside those families may still be reversible, or may not be, and only that model’s own documentation can settle it. Because the lists come from different countries and dates, do not apply one region’s model list to another.

Step 3: Follow the procedure for your model
Samsung US support is the only source here that gives the opening steps of a procedure. Its instructions begin with two actions:
- Unplug the dryer’s power cord from the wall outlet before doing anything else.
- Remove the hinge screws that hold the door in place, using a number 2 Phillips head screwdriver.
The remaining steps, including how the door is re-mounted on the opposite side, are model-specific. Use the manual for your exact dryer for those steps, and stop if the manual’s steps do not match what you see on your machine.

Step 4: Decide whether to hire a technician
Samsung Australia recommends that a qualified technician carry out the work. That advice is stated in its Australian support article and applies to Australian products. Samsung’s US and Irish articles, as reviewed, do not give a technician recommendation, so the Australian position should not be read as a statement of Samsung’s global policy. If you are not confident working with a dryer’s power connection and door hardware, a qualified technician is the safer route, and this is the advice Samsung gives for Australia.
Washers are not covered
Do not try to reverse a washing machine door using dryer instructions. Samsung Ireland states that the reversal feature applies to select dryers, not to washing machines or washer-dryers. A washer’s door hardware and seal may differ from a dryer’s, so a dryer procedure should not be used on a washer.

Samsung’s support material names only the number 2 Phillips head screwdriver. It does not specify a brand or any other size, so no other tool should be assumed to be required by Samsung.

- Model not listed as reversible: Treat the door as fixed. Contact Samsung support for your country with your model code before making any changes.
- Manual not found: Search Samsung’s support site for the full model code and your country. Do not use a manual for a different model code, even if the dryer looks identical.
- Steps do not match your dryer: Stop after unplugging the dryer and checking the model. Confirm the correct procedure with Samsung support before continuing.
- Uncertain about the work: Use a qualified technician. Samsung Australia gives this advice for its products.
The check that matters most is the model code, and it comes before any tool is picked up.
