When a drum roller may be the problem
Drum rollers support and guide the drum as it turns. SamsungParts.com associates roller or idler-pulley wear with squeaking or grinding, and says a worn or damaged support roller may cause wobbling, noise or uneven rotation. Those symptoms justify inspection, but they are not a diagnosis: a noisy dryer, one that stops mid-cycle or one that will not turn can have other causes. The available repair procedure does not establish that a roller is the only possible cause.
No reliable published figure in the cited sources shows how often Samsung rollers fail or what share of dryer noise they cause, so a failure rate or probability would be misleading.
Identify the dryer before choosing a part
Find the full model number, commonly on a label inside the door opening or on the rear of the dryer. Enter that complete number in a parts lookup and confirm the roller against the model’s parts diagram or repair instructions. SamsungParts.com cautions that many internal dryer components are model-specific; a part that fits one Samsung dryer should not be assumed to fit another.

For example, SamsungParts.com lists DC97-16782A as a Samsung dryer drum support roller, but its listing says the original part is no longer available and suggests a comparable part. That listing is an example, not proof of fit or current availability for every model or location. Check the exact model and establish whether a proposed replacement is the roller itself or a comparable item before buying.
Samsung publishes model-specific repair information: its Ireland support page for the DV90T5240AN lists a Repair Guide modified 2025-06-26. That guide’s existence does not mean it applies to a different model or region. Use the support page and documentation corresponding to your own dryer.

Decide whether to do the repair yourself
The published procedure described below is from Frigidaire Appliance Parts and is a model-aware illustration, not a universal Samsung service procedure. It involves substantial disassembly and electrical connections. Consult your exact model’s instructions first; if you cannot confirm the steps or safely handle the work, use a qualified appliance technician.
Samsung’s user-servicing manual says to check the product model code and match the replacement-part name to the manual illustration. In that manual, user-serviceable items are limited to specified components—handles on some models, gaskets, drawers and hinges—not drum rollers. It advises wearing gloves and states that damage from repair by someone other than a Samsung-certified provider will not be covered under the warranty terms described in that manual. Those cautions apply to that manual’s scope, not automatically to every model, country or warranty. Check the documentation and warranty terms for your dryer.

Tools and safety before opening the cabinet
The cited procedure lists a multi-screwdriver, Phillips-head bit, flat-head bit, wrench and 17 mm socket. It instructs the reader to unplug the appliance before beginning. Do not start while the dryer is connected to power. Follow the model-specific instructions for any additional hazards, disconnections or precautions.

Accessing a front roller
- Unplug the dryer. Remove the top panel and control panel, disconnecting the harness as the procedure specifies.
- Remove the front-panel fasteners and disconnect the door-switch wiring before moving the panel.
- Remove the relevant bulkhead to reach the front roller.
- Secure the roller shaft while removing its nut. Remove the washer and roller, then fit the replacement with the washers in place and tighten the nut while holding the shaft.
Accessing a rear roller
- After the model’s specified initial disassembly, release belt tension and remove the belt so the drum can be removed.
- Follow the procedure’s steps for removing the rear bulkhead to reach the rear roller. The example configuration disconnects a water line; not every Samsung dryer has that configuration.
- For the right rear roller in the cited procedure, remove and reinstall the additional support bracket as directed.
Reassembly
Reassemble in the sequence and manner required by the model-specific instructions. Restore the belt path, reinstall panels and reconnect harnesses before restoring power. Do not rely on the example procedure’s configuration if your dryer differs.

What to verify before restoring power
- The replacement part was confirmed against the complete model number and the model’s parts information.
- Washers, nuts and any support bracket were returned to their specified positions.
- The drum turns and the belt follows the correct path, as described in the model-specific instructions.
- Harnesses, door-switch wiring, panels and other removed components are reinstalled before the dryer is plugged in.
