The mystery climbing plant is identified in the title-matching article as Rosa ‘Climbing Iceberg’—a climbing form of the familiar Iceberg floribunda rose. It is not a self-twining vine, and “never stops blooming” is an exaggeration: it can flower repeatedly over a long growing season, but its bloom depends on climate and season. The identification is that article’s attribution, not an authentication of any particular photograph.

What is the mystery climbing plant?

The plant named in the March 21, 2026 article “This Mystery Climbing Plant Grows in Record Time and Never Stops Blooming” is Rosa ‘Climbing Iceberg’. A nursery listing identifies its plant as Iceberg Climbing Rose, Rosa spp. ‘Iceberg’, and describes clusters of white flowers with a light honey fragrance. The climbing form is a sport of the shrub floribunda Iceberg, according to Epic Gardening’s Iceberg rose care guide.

That identification is useful if you are trying to name the plant discussed in the article. It should not be taken as proof that every photograph of a white-flowered climbing rose shows this cultivar.

Does the Climbing Iceberg rose really bloom all year?

No. “Never stops blooming” is promotional shorthand for repeat flowering during a long growing season, not a promise of flowers in every month. The Indian Defence Review article says flowering may extend from late spring through fall and into early winter in milder climates; it also notes that cold regions can have winter dormancy, with flowers mainly from late spring through fall. Monrovia lists the bloom time more narrowly as spring and summer.

Expect flowering to vary with local climate and growing conditions. The available descriptions support a long, recurring season—not reliable year-round bloom.

How fast does it grow, and how large can it get?

“Record time” is not established by the available plant information. Monrovia lists the growth rate as moderate and says stems can reach 10–15 feet. That is potential cane length, not a prediction that the rose will reach that length quickly or in every garden. Its performance will depend on conditions and care.

What support does a climbing Iceberg rose need?

Unlike a twining vine, this rose does not wrap itself around a support. Its long, pliable canes need to be guided and tied to a sturdy structure. Choose a trellis, arbor, or other support that can hold the mature plant, and leave room to access the canes for pruning and training.

How to grow and care for a Climbing Iceberg rose

Sun and soil

Monrovia recommends full sun and evenly moist, well-drained soil. Epic Gardening notes that Iceberg roses can tolerate some partial shade, but good airflow and drainage remain useful considerations. Follow local nursery advice for your site and climate.

Iceberg Rose Bush - Single - 2 Inch Pot - Floribunda Rose
  • Physical characteristics: Iceberg Rose is a bushy floribunda with dark green foliage, long pointed buds, and medium-sized crisp white flowers produced freely in clusters. The bright blooms create strong contrast against the foliage and give the plant a clean, classic landscape appearance. A light honey-like fragrance accompanies the repeated floral display.
  • Sunlight: Grow Iceberg Rose where it receives strong direct sun for most of the day. Bright exposure supports dense branching, sturdy stems, and abundant flower production. In very hot climates, some relief from the most intense late-afternoon sun may reduce heat stress, but avoid deep shade, which can produce weaker growth and fewer blooms and less compact branching.
  • Water: Water Iceberg Rose thoroughly so moisture reaches the full root zone, then allow the upper layer of soil to begin drying before watering again. Newly planted starter plants may need closer moisture checks while roots establish, especially during warm or windy conditions. Avoid keeping the roots constantly saturated, and make sure containers and planting areas drain freely.
  • Soil: Plant Iceberg Rose in loose, fertile, well-drained soil that holds enough moisture for steady growth without remaining soggy. Garden beds with good structure or a quality container mix can both work when drainage is reliable. When repotting a starter plant, select a container with open drainage holes and adequate room for continued root development.
  • Growth & maintenance: Iceberg Rose develops a rounded, bushy flowering shrub that works well in rose beds, borders, grouped plantings, hedges, and large containers. Remove faded flowers and weak or damaged growth as needed to maintain an attractive framework. Give the plant room to expand, and expect mature size, bloom timing, fragrance, and growth rate to vary with local conditions.

Watering and feeding

Monrovia advises watering when the top three inches of soil are dry and feeding during the growing season. Epic Gardening’s general guidance is to water deeply when the soil is dry. Adjust to rainfall, drainage, and local conditions rather than treating either schedule as a guarantee for every garden.

Training, pruning, and reblooming

Train and tie the canes to their support as they grow. Monrovia recommends pruning in late winter; Epic Gardening gives seasonal pruning guidance and says removing spent flowers can encourage reblooming. Use the timing suited to your climate and the plant’s growth cycle.

Hardiness varies by listing

The listed hardiness ranges are not consistent: Monrovia gives USDA Zones 6–11 for its climbing rose listing, while Epic Gardening gives Zones 5–9 for Iceberg roses generally. These ranges should not be combined into one definitive span for the climbing cultivar. Check with a local nursery about suitability in your area.

Is it disease-resistant?

Even if described as disease-resistant, the rose is not immune to problems. Epic Gardening names black spot, powdery mildew, and rose rosette disease, along with possible pests including aphids, beetles, scale, and spider mites. The source establishes possible risks, not a diagnosis or a treatment plan; identify a problem before choosing a response.
