In Perth during Christmas 2025, decorated homes and public light trails gave families and neighbours ways to share the season beyond their own front doors. South Perth ran its first Christmas Lights Competition, while RAC WA highlighted residential displays including a long-running home in Cloverdale. These are dated examples, not confirmation that the same private displays or routes will operate in 2026.
How Christmas lights became a shared Perth experience
For Christmas 2025, the City of South Perth described seasonal installations at Mindeerup and Manning Hub, as well as along Mends, Angelo and Preston streets. Residents and businesses also lit homes and shopfronts for the City’s first Christmas Lights Competition. The council invited residents to visit finalists using its trail map. The City’s 9 December 2025 notice set out the seasonal displays and competition.
The mix of public installations and household entries made light-viewing a neighbourhood activity: people could follow a route, walk past decorated homes, and share the evening with family or friends. That does not mean every household took part, or that every display was equally accessible.

South Perth competition
The City of South Perth’s results named Garden Affair, at 62 Angelo Street, as the business-category winner. The Mayor, Greg Milner, said entrants “brought joy to families across the City this festive season.” The results announcement, published 18 December 2025, thanked entrants and directed visitors to the finalists’ trail map.

Cloverdale display
RAC WA’s 2025 guide described the display at 159 Williamson Avenue, Cloverdale, as featuring more than 40,000 lights and having a 27-year history. These details describe the specific home as reported that season; they are not a guarantee that the display will return. Plan a considerate and comfortable visit
- Verify before travelling. A past listing does not confirm that a private display is operating this year. Check current information from the council, event organiser or household where available.
- Keep residential streets accessible. Avoid blocking driveways, footpaths or sightlines, and follow any parking guidance for the specific display. RAC’s Miles Park recommendation applies to the cited Cloverdale address, not every display.
- Check sensory details. The 2025 City of Perth map warned that some displays include flashing lights, music and other light or noise disruptions that may affect people with sensitivities or medical reasons such as epilepsy and autism. It advised contacting the City for more information. Ask the event organiser about individual installations rather than assuming an experience will be sensory-friendly.
- Use current access information. Route lengths and facilities can change between seasons; confirm the latest map and transport details before setting out.
What the City says about the trail’s reach
The City of Perth’s 2026 partnership prospectus says its Christmas Lights Trail averaged over 12,200 people per night, that 73% of attendees travelled specifically for the event, and that $16.5 million was spent directly into the local economy in 2025. The prospectus also reports that 93% of visitors had a positive community experience. These are figures published by the City, not independently established measures in the cited material; the prospectus is about a city event and does not verify private household listings or 2026 dates.
