A Bedford home in Perth was advertised for just under $1 million in a listing that promised “a masterpiece of modern living” and “comfort and luxury.” But photographs described in a February 2024 PerthNow report showed a very different picture, including a half-painted room, stained carpet and an untidy backyard. The report covered criticism of the listing—not an independent inspection or a confirmed sale.
What the Perth listing claimed
The listing described the Bedford property as “a masterpiece of modern living, where every detail has been carefully curated for a life of comfort and luxury”. It also called the backyard “perfect for al fresco dining”. PerthNow reported that the home was being advertised for just under $1 million; the article did not state an exact asking price.
What PerthNow said the photographs showed
In its 2 February 2024 report, Rachel Fenner described listing photographs credited to realestate.com.au as showing several unfinished or untidy areas:
- A half-painted room and stained carpet.
- An unpainted laundry and a window covered by a tarp.
- A backyard with dead or dying plants and junk.
These are descriptions of images in the report, not findings from a property inspection. The article does not establish the home’s address, lot size or independently assessed condition.

How the photos and agent response became part of the story
PerthNow said photographs were posted to Reddit on 1 February 2024 and quickly attracted comments. Some online speculation concerned whether AI had been used to write the listing, but the report presented that as speculation, not an established fact.
Agent Clive Kittson told PerthNow that his office had written the ads and that he would get in touch to have the wording toned down. The report does not say whether or when the listing copy changed.

The report provides a snapshot of an advertised property and the reaction to its presentation in early February 2024. It gives an approximate asking figure, not a confirmed sale price.
