Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said the City was sponsoring the event and described it as a way to showcase Perth’s parks and gardens. PerthNow also attributed to him the comment that events like it make the city more vibrant and give people another reason to rediscover Perth.
How the event’s name and venue changed
The festival continued at Langley Park in 2022. A City of Perth agenda lists the event there for 5–8 May, with garden concepts, landscape show gardens, floral displays, sustainable-living ideas, trends and outdoor-living information. A 2023 preview from the Horticultural Media Association describes another Langley Park edition, scheduled for 11–14 May, and show gardens in three sizes: under 4 square metres, up to 25 square metres, and up to 150 square metres.

In 2025, Nursery and Garden Industry WA relaunched the event as the Perth Garden Show, presented with Water Corporation and held at McCallum Park in Victoria Park. Its program included garden displays and products, speakers, landscaping, waterwise programming, a lawn and reticulation workshop area, and a Green Living Hub. NGIWA chairperson Ross Hooper described the rebranded show as the association’s flagship event.
