Newair’s support category includes articles about noise and power, plus a pump-replacement guide for one specific nugget-ice-maker model. That is not a complete diagnostic tree for every machine. Find the model number on the appliance or its documentation, then consult the Newair product manuals page and the instructions for your unit before attempting maintenance or repair.

Newair ice maker not powering on
Newair’s “Not powering on” support article, published January 11, 2023, advises checking that the outlet has power and trying an outlet known to work if the first one does not. These are sensible first checks because they do not involve opening the appliance.
If a working outlet does not resolve the problem, Newair’s article lists PCB replacement as a subsequent step. A printed circuit board is an internal electrical component, so treat that as a repair escalation—not a routine quick fix. Use the exact model manual and contact Newair Support if you are unsure how to proceed or whether the machine is covered. Newair says customers seeking warranty service within its stated two-year coverage should contact Support for diagnostics and an RMA; check the current terms and confirm coverage for your particular unit and purchase on the Newair contact page.

Newair ice maker making noise
Some sound is normal, and Newair says noise varies with the type of ice maker. Its “Noise” support article, published January 11, 2023, gives these manufacturer-stated figures: nugget-style machines have a noise range of 55–57 dB, with peaks up to 65 dB; non-nugget machines are listed as below 50 dB. The article does not provide a measurement method, so these figures are Newair’s stated ranges, not independent standards or a way to diagnose a specific machine.
Newair says screeching or high-pitched noise could be caused by a water pump, which it describes as replaceable. That possibility does not establish that the pump is the cause in every case. Confirm the model and appropriate part before any replacement, and contact Support if the sound is persistent or the diagnosis is uncertain.

How do you clean a Newair ice maker?
Newair’s “Cleaning Your Ice Maker”, published January 12, 2023, warns that cleaning methods differ by machine: “Different ice makers may have different cleaning methods. Please check your user manual before cleaning your ice maker.” Follow that manual first, including its instructions for draining the reservoir and any cleaning cycle.
- Power down and drain. Turn the machine off, unplug it, and drain it as directed in the manual.
- Wash removable parts. Remove parts the manual identifies as removable and hand-wash them. Do not force components out.
- Clean the interior gently. Wipe it with warm soapy water and a non-abrasive cloth. Avoid abrasives, harsh cleaners, sharp objects, and stiff-bristle brushes.
- Use an appropriate cleaning solution. Newair gives a 10:1 water-to-distilled-white-vinegar ratio as an option, or says to follow the directions for a nickel-safe ice machine cleaner. Its article says 30 ounces of water plus 3 ounces of vinegar is typically enough for most countertop units; this is not a replacement for your model’s instructions.
- Rinse and discard the ice. Run a cleaning cycle if your machine has one, or at least two cycles as Newair advises. Discard the ice made during cleaning and run clean-water cycles to rinse.
Cleaning can address deposits or some ice-quality complaints, but it cannot establish the cause of every taste or production problem. If the manual does not explain the symptom, contact Newair Support rather than applying an unverified fix.

Is a water-pump replacement a quick fix?
Only consider the cited Newair repair instructions if the model matches. The manufacturer’s “NIM044BS00 Water Pump Replacement” guide, published March 20, 2023, is specifically for model NIM044BS00 and identifies part NIM-WaterPump02. It lists a Phillips screwdriver and describes draining the machine, removing exterior and access panels, disconnecting the pump wire at the PCB, replacing the pump, and reassembling the unit.
Do not assume that pump or procedure fits another Newair model. Confirm the model and part compatibility with the manual or Newair Support before ordering or starting work. If you are uncertain about internal electrical connections or disassembly, leave the repair to a qualified service provider.

Why is ice melting in the bin?
Newair explains that portable ice makers preserve ice only for short periods: melted ice is recycled into the water tank. Its ice-storage article, published September 29, 2021, identifies AI-500SS as the only unit in that article designed to store ice for an extended period. Check your model’s manual to understand its intended storage behavior.
When to stop troubleshooting and contact Newair
Use Newair’s ice-maker support category for the available model-related articles, and its contact page for current support options. Contact Support for recurring failures, warranty questions, uncertain replacement-part compatibility, or any repair that would require internal electrical work. Follow the manual for other symptoms: the cited support articles do not establish a universal fix for every model or every problem, including slow ice production, leaks, or error codes.
