What was the Noria air conditioner?
Noria Home’s Kickstarter campaign ran from April 19 to June 3, 2016. It raised $1,468,736 from 3,715 backers, and the project page is now titled “Kapsul: Cool, redefined.” The project proposed a redesigned window AC, with campaign claims focused on window installation, Bluetooth app controls and a compact profile.
Those details describe what the campaign said it was designing; they do not establish how every production unit performed. The reviewed sources contain no independent study, current efficiency rating, verified noise measurement or comparative performance test.
Which windows did the campaign say Noria fit?
Noria Home’s Kickstarter FAQ stated: “Noria can be installed in single or double-hung window frames.” It specified horizontal installation in windows 21 to 36 inches wide and said the window screen needed to be removed or slid out of the way.

Asked, “Can Noria be placed vertically in a window?”, the campaign FAQ said vertical installation was not supported at that time. It cited engineering considerations including compressor lubrication and condensate drainage. These are 2016 campaign-era statements, not verified instructions for a current product.
The campaign described a frame adapter that would tilt the unit upward by three degrees to direct condensate outside, and estimated that the unit would project 8–9 inches beyond the exterior wall. Those figures are campaign claims; they do not confirm fit or drainage for a particular window or building.

How were Noria’s app controls supposed to work?
The campaign described Bluetooth control for scheduling and temperature adjustment through an app, available only when the user was inside the home. Wi-Fi was being explored, not promised. The campaign therefore does not support treating Noria as a remotely controllable, internet-connected AC.
Was Noria an air purifier?
No. The campaign described a standard screen filter intended to keep dust from clogging the evaporator coils. Its FAQ explicitly said the filter was not intended to improve room air quality by removing pollen, dust or smoke. It should not be described as an air purifier.

The FAQ said the screen filter should be cleaned with water each season. That is campaign-era maintenance guidance, not a substitute for instructions supplied with a specific unit.
What did the campaign estimate Noria would cost to run?
Noria Home estimated about $50 per summer using this calculation: 0.480 kW × 9.5 cooling hours per day × 90 days × $0.12 per kWh = about $49. The FAQ called the estimate “extremely rough” and noted that actual cost would vary with location, summer temperatures, thermostat setting and local electricity rates. It is a 2016 estimate based on those assumptions, not a current bill prediction.

The campaign also stated that the appliance used 480 watts and had a six-foot cord with an LCDI three-prong plug for 120-volt outlets. Those campaign details do not establish cooling capacity, current electrical certification or suitability for a particular home.

If you are selecting a window AC today, verify the specific model’s current availability and specifications. Check the window-frame type and dimensions, cooling capacity for the room, whether controls work locally or require Wi-Fi, energy figures and their test basis, installation and condensate requirements, and the availability of warranty service and parts. The sources reviewed do not provide comparable evidence to score Noria against current alternatives.
