Where was Mariah Carey’s Georgia mansion?
The property was reported at 855 Davis Drive in Sandy Springs, a city north of Atlanta and near Buckhead. Atlanta Business Chronicle reported Carey bought it in November 2021 for $5.65 million, citing property records (Atlanta Business Chronicle, 2022). Headlines sometimes described it as an Atlanta or Buckhead mansion, but Sandy Springs is the more precise location.

What was inside the mansion?
Listing-era accounts described the main house as about 12,575 square feet, with nine bedrooms, on approximately four acres. Those are reported listing figures, not a current survey or appraisal. Descriptions characterize the exterior as traditional red-brick Southern architecture with Georgian or colonial influence; they do not establish a definitive architectural classification.

- A swimming pool and separate pool house
- A private tennis court and landscaped gardens
- A home theater and workout room or gym
- A library and a recording booth on the third floor
- A pink dressing or glam room and main-suite amenities, noted in one listing report
These details come from property coverage and listing descriptions, rather than a current inspection. Architectural Digest also described the estate and its features in its 2023 sale report (Architectural Digest, 2023).

What were the purchase, asking and reported sale prices?
The figures refer to different points in the property’s transaction history: the reported purchase price, subsequent asking prices, and reported sale price. An asking price is not the same as a completed sale price.

The reported sale price is $1.35 million below the reported purchase price: $5.65 million − $4.3 million = $1.35 million. That arithmetic does not establish Carey’s net gain or loss; taxes, carrying costs, transaction expenses and tax basis are not established by these reports.

What did Carey say about Atlanta and New York?
In a September 2022 report, BET attributed a statement to Carey that was provided through the listing brokerage: “I will always have a close connection to Atlanta! It was a perfect moment during COVID, but I will continue to spend time in New York City, my long-term residence.” (BET, September 2022). The statement was conveyed via the brokerage, not in a direct interview in that report.
