A December 2022 report says Don Henley bought a California home for his son for $4.3 million. The account describes a 3,554-square-foot property with solar panels, a reclaimed metal roof, drought-tolerant landscaping and an electric-vehicle charger. Those details come from a secondary entertainment report attributed to Dirt.com, not a confirmed transaction record.

What the report says about the home

Sterling Whitaker’s December 17, 2022, article for Taste of Country says Henley purchased the property for his son and attributes the real-estate details to Dirt.com. The reported price is $4.3 million. The article describes a four-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom home measuring 3,554 square feet, built in 1950 and designed by architect Thane Roberts.

The reported features include a reclaimed metal roof, solar panels, drought-tolerant landscaping and a Tesla charger. The article also describes an open-plan ground floor, skylights, large windows, sliding glass walls, a saltwater pool, covered patio, grilling area and outdoor shower. These are descriptions in the secondary report; they have not been independently verified here.

What “green home” means in this account

The report applies the green-home label to a set of named features rather than documenting the home’s energy use, water savings, materials impact or environmental certification. Solar panels and drought-tolerant landscaping are among the reported elements, but the article does not provide system capacity, utility-bill data, water-use figures or certification details. The label should therefore be understood as the report’s description, not as proof of a measured performance rating.

What remains unconfirmed

  • The transaction: The $4.3 million price and purchase are reported by Taste of Country, which attributes the details to Dirt.com. The original Dirt.com story and a primary property transaction record were not available for confirmation.
  • The recipient’s name: The article spells the son’s name as both “Will Henley” and “Will Henry.” The spelling is unresolved in that source.
  • The property identity and features: The report does not establish a confirmed address, and its descriptions of the house and its green features have not been independently verified.

Accordingly, the price, buyer-recipient relationship, specifications and features are best treated as reported claims rather than independently confirmed property facts.
