The WAI design routes compressed fluid through the rotation spindle and drill pipe, then discharges it through the bit to flush the hole. Its published bit sizes are 3½–10½ inches (89–267 mm); Drill King lists its broader DTH button-bit range as 2¾–42 inches (70–1067 mm). The right combination depends on the hammer, shank, hole diameter, formation and operating system—not diameter alone.
What Drill King offers for water-well DTH drilling
Drill King’s product range includes DTH air hammers, WAI water hammers and button bits, as well as a separate reverse-circulation family. Its DTH hammer page identifies water-well drilling as an application. The information below focuses on air and WAI DTH equipment; reverse circulation is a distinct product family, not another name for the WAI design. Drill King DTH hammers
The manufacturer’s pages establish the products and options it publishes. They do not provide independent comparative testing or enough project information to prescribe a setup for every well.
How the WAI water hammer works
Drill King describes its WAI series as using compressed fluid supplied through the rig’s rotation spindle and drill pipe. The fluid reaches the hammer, and exhaust fluid exits through blow-holes in the bit to flush the drilled hole. Rotation passes from the rig’s rotation unit through the drill pipe; feed force reaches the hammer through the feed system and the drill-pipe weight. WAI Water Hammer & Button Bits

- Powerful 7. 5-Amp Motor – Corded hammer drill tackle the most demanding projects
- Keyless 1/2 Inch Metal Chuck – Powerful hammer drill Provides great convenience for frequent bit changes. Please note that this hammer drill can NOT be used in reinforced concrete walls.
- 2-in-1 Multi-Function - Easy switch , select the right function for each application in an instant
- Variable Speed Trigger - With preset selector and lock on, increased control and continuous operations, choose the speed you need as materials and conditions change
- Soft Grip Handle – Maximum comfort with relentless drill hammer in the palm of your hand
This is an operational distinction from an air-hammer arrangement: the WAI page describes a fluid-pressure path through the spindle and drill pipe, with discharge through the bit. It does not publish a complete operating specification for every model, so the page alone is not enough to size or configure a fluid system.
Drill King promotes the WAI series for hard formations and claims reduced energy consumption and straighter holes compared with a conventional air hammer. Those are manufacturer claims; the reviewed product information does not provide independent, like-for-like test results or quantified savings.

Published WAI sizes, models and options
Drill King lists WAI bit sizes from 3½ to 10½ inches (89–267 mm) and model-information downloads for five hammer models. The page also lists smooth wear sleeves and integrated stabilizing ribs as options.
| Published WAI detail | Drill King listing |
|---|---|
| Bit size range | 3½–10½ inches (89–267 mm) |
| Model information | HADK-W30I, W40I, W50I, W60I and W80I |
| Options | Smooth wear sleeves or integrated stabilizing ribs |
The WAI page also states that Drill King was ISO 9001:2015 certified as of September 2017. That dated manufacturer statement does not establish the company’s current certification status.

DTH button-bit sizes and design choices
Drill King lists DTH button bits from 2¾ inches (70 mm) to 42 inches (1067 mm), made with aerospace-grade steel and tungsten carbide. Available configurations include different carbide, wear and head options. This broader range is not the WAI-specific bit range: confirm which bit family and hammer configuration apply to the intended system. Drill King DTH Drill Bits
For air button bits, Drill King organizes standard shank options by bit size and hammer model. Its page describes multiple bit-face designs and offers qualitative guidance about formation, hole straightness and penetration rate. It also discusses premium inserts, wear pads and back-reaming buttons. These descriptions are selection guidance from the manufacturer, not guaranteed outcomes or independent performance comparisons. It is also suitable for masonry, concrete and brick
A larger bit is not automatically a compatible bit. The hammer model and shank must match, and the selected diameter and face configuration must suit the hole design and formation. The public pages do not establish a universally best face style or an expected penetration rate for a particular site.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to confirm before ordering
- Choose the system type. Confirm whether the job calls for an air-powered DTH system or the WAI fluid-pressure design. For WAI, clarify the fluid system and the requested configuration with Drill King.
- Identify the hammer. Record the exact hammer model. For WAI, use the model-specific information for the listed HADK-W series; for air bits, use the manufacturer’s model-and-shank compatibility information.
- Specify the bit and shank. Confirm the required bit diameter and compatible shank against current technical documentation. Do not select by nominal hole diameter alone.
- Describe the formation and priorities. Share the formation and the desired balance of penetration and hole straightness so the bit-face and wear configuration can be discussed. Treat qualitative product-page guidance as guidance, not a performance guarantee.
- Request project-specific documentation. Ask Drill King for the current model specifications, compatibility confirmation and a quote for the intended application. Its product pages direct prospective buyers to contact the company for selection and quotes. Contact Drill King
What the published information can—and cannot—settle
The product pages establish that Drill King offers DTH equipment relevant to water-well drilling, describe the WAI fluid path, and list size ranges, model information and configuration options. They do not supply the geological conditions, rig details, hole design or operating inputs needed to recommend one hammer-and-bit combination for a specific well. No independent performance statistics, verified cost comparison or field-performance guarantee is established by these pages.
