Modern Tiny Living’s Sea Chord is a 22-foot (6.71 m) tiny house designed to use either a standard RV-style hookup or rooftop solar connected to a battery array. Its reported layout packs a sofa bed, loft, full kitchen, stacked washer/dryer and bathroom into a double-axle trailer—but published details do not establish how long it can run independently on solar power.
What is the Sea Chord?
The Sea Chord is a tiny house by Modern Tiny Living, described by Adam Williams in New Atlas on September 23, 2024. It measures 22 ft (6.71 m) long and is built on a double-axle trailer. The exterior is clad in engineered wood and topped with a steel roof; the report also notes an exterior storage box and an outdoor shower.
How does its off-grid power setup work?
The reported design offers two power options: a standard RV-style hookup, or rooftop solar panels connected to a battery array housed in the exterior storage box. That describes a solar-and-storage arrangement, not a confirmed level of energy independence.
The feature does not give the panels’ wattage, battery capacity, appliance loads or expected runtime. Without those specifications, it is not possible to estimate how many days the house could operate without a hookup or whether the system would meet a particular owner’s needs year-round.

How is the interior laid out?
Living and sleeping
A custom sofa pulls out into a bed, and a retractable table can serve as a dining or work surface. Storage-integrated stairs lead to a low-ceiling loft with a double bed and additional storage. Together, these features make the most of the compact floor plan while providing both a ground-level sleeping option and a loft.
Kitchen and laundry
The kitchen is reported to include an oven, induction cooktop, sink, refrigerator/freezer and cabinetry, with steel counters and a breakfast bar for two. A stacked washer and dryer are also listed. The feature does not provide appliance models or other component specifications.
Bathroom
The bathroom includes a shower, sink and vanity, plus a composting toilet. The toilet’s brand and model are not identified.
What should you check when comparing tiny houses?
The Sea Chord feature gives useful information about its length, trailer base, sleeping arrangement and listed amenities. It does not provide several specifications needed to evaluate fit for a particular site or travel plan:
- Energy system: Solar-panel wattage, battery capacity, electrical ratings and expected autonomy are not stated.
- Trailer and construction: Trailer weight and insulation rating are not stated.
- Water: Water capacity is not stated.
- Price and order status: New Atlas reported no price, and its 2024 feature does not establish whether the Sea Chord is currently available or orderable.
What is known about the price and availability?
New Atlas said it had no word on the Sea Chord’s price. The September 2024 report does not confirm present availability, so it should not be treated as a current offer or price quote.
