Which twin sizes make a king-size footprint?
Nolah Support lists each Twin XL mattress as 38 by 80 inches. Side by side, two Twin XL mattresses span 76 by 80 inches—the standard king dimensions stated by the same source. “Twin” and “Twin XL” are not interchangeable here. Two standard Twin beds do not have the same length as two Twin XL mattresses, so do not assume that any pair of beds creates a king-size footprint. The cited size source establishes Twin XL dimensions; it does not give dimensions for standard Twins.
How can you reduce the gap between the mattresses?
A bed bridge or mattress gap filler is an optional accessory designed to fill the center space. Some kits combine a foam bridge or wedge with a strap that wraps around the mattresses to help hold them together. The bridge can cover the gap, but it does not turn two mattresses into one, and the available product information does not establish that it will make the surface feel seamless.

Fit the bridge to your mattresses
Measure the mattress dimensions and the gap before choosing a kit. One seller lists its wedge-style kit as 80 inches long by 12 inches wide; that is a seller specification, not a universal fit standard. Install a strap-based kit
- Place the mattresses side by side on a suitable support.
- Position the bridge or filler in the center gap according to the kit’s directions.
- Wrap the connector strap around the mattresses and tighten it as instructed.

What should you check about the frame and bedding?
The combined Twin XL dimensions give you a footprint to compare against your room and bed support, but they do not guarantee that a particular frame, mattress, or bedding set will fit. Confirm the dimensions and compatibility for the exact products you plan to use. In particular, check the support surface, mattress thickness, and bedding sizing with their manufacturers; there is no universal fit rule established here.

Some compatible adjustable-bed systems provide a way to synchronize two bases. The SmartFlex USA manual says to connect a sync cable between the sync ports on the two control boxes for its compatible Twin XL beds. It describes that system by saying, “The two individual twin XL beds now function as a one piece king size bed.” This is specific to the SmartFlex setup covered by that manual; it is not a general instruction for other brands or models.
