The City of Vincent completed and opened new changerooms inside Beatty Park’s indoor pool area, beside the indoor waterslides, in December 2024. The rebuilt north-end facility adds changing spaces, toilets and on-deck showers, including a private Changing Places room for people with disability and support needs.
Where the new changerooms are and why they were built
The facility is on the pool deck at the north end of Beatty Park’s indoor pool area, next to the indoor water slides. The City says the former north-end changerooms had been closed for safety reasons for many years. Rebuilding them on the deck makes changing and toilet facilities easier to reach for families and people with disability, without walking farther up the corridor. The City’s opening announcement said the addition was intended to ease congestion and reduce wait times during busy periods.
Beatty Park is owned and operated by the City of Vincent and has indoor and outdoor pools. Its profile places the centre about 3 km north of Perth’s CBD. Beatty Park’s About Us page provides general centre information.
What the project added
The new facility brings several types of amenities together inside the indoor pool area:

The City also lists water-efficient shower, toilet and basin fixtures, along with LED lighting controlled by sensors, as sustainability measures in the project. The practical change is proximity: swimmers can reach the added facilities from the pool deck rather than relying on the former, closed rooms farther along the corridor.
How the Changing Places room is equipped
One private changeroom and toilet follows the Changing Places model and is described by the City as exclusively available to people with disability and support needs. Its listed features are:

The City says the room provides a safe, private space to use before or after swimming. Its project information describes the design and equipment; it does not establish current booking rules, access arrangements or whether operating procedures have changed since opening. Check with Beatty Park for present-day access information before visiting.
When it was completed—and what the earlier estimate said
The City’s completed-project page records construction from February 2024 through completion in December 2024. That outcome came later than the August 2024 completion estimated at the tender stage in a November 2023 council briefing, which described a 35-week programme. The estimate was not the final completion date. The November 2023 council briefing records the tender-stage estimate; the completed-project page records the December finish.

In its 2 December 2024 opening announcement, the City reported that Beatty Park receives over one million visitors a year and is regularly at capacity. This is the City’s reported attendance figure, not an independently audited count. The announcement framed the extra changing facilities as a response to peak-period demand.

The 2023 council briefing recommended a tender price of $1,196,680 excluding GST for LKS Constructions (WA) Pty Ltd. The same briefing separately discussed project funding and a proposed budget increase with contingency. Those tender and budget figures are not a final outturn cost: the City’s completed-project page does not state the final amount spent.
