Reviva includes tools for drilling, sanding, cutting, scraping and vacuuming, but its recycled-content claims do not by themselves establish a lower overall environmental impact.
What is the BLACK+DECKER Reviva range?
Reviva is a BLACK+DECKER line of cordless tools intended mainly for household DIY tasks. The four products identified at the October 2022 launch were a 12V drill/driver, 12V detail sander, 12V jigsaw and 4V MAX screwdriver. Later US collection listings also include a hand vacuum, hammer drill, oscillating multi-tool and drill/sander kit. Product listings and model codes can differ by region; check the local BLACK+DECKER site for the exact model and included accessories.
The launch announcement described the original tools as available through Amazon and other retailers at that time. That is historical availability, not confirmation of current stock or pricing. BLACK+DECKER’s October 2022 launch announcement gives the initial lineup and launch-era details.
What does the recycled-material claim mean?
BLACK+DECKER says Reviva tool housings are made with Tritan Renew containing 50% certified recycled material. The claim concerns the housing material; it does not mean that 50% of each complete tool is recycled. The UK range page explains that the certification uses a third-party mass-balance allocation process. That accounting method should not be read as proof that each individual housing contains a separately traceable quantity of post-consumer plastic.

The company’s “over 10 million single-use plastic bottles” statement is a forecast, not a verified count of bottles used or diverted. The October 2022 US announcement based the three-year global production forecast on production as of February 2022 and an assumed average 16.9 fl oz bottle weight of 0.36 oz. The UK page uses an assumed 0.5L bottle. These are company calculations and assumptions, not a measured end-of-life result.
BLACK+DECKER also published per-tool bottle-weight equivalents for the original drill, detail sander and jigsaw: eight, eleven and eighteen bottles respectively, using the launch announcement’s stated framing. These are material-weight comparisons, not counts of identifiable whole bottles in each product. The company’s oscillating multi-tool page gives conflicting bottle-equivalent counts, so no figure is included here.

Recycled content is one material attribute, not a complete environmental assessment. The cited product and company pages do not provide lifecycle comparisons showing how Reviva’s total environmental impact compares with other tools.
What can the Reviva tools do?
REVCDD12C drill/driver
The US REVCDD12C is a 12V drill/driver for drilling and screwdriving in wood, metal or plastic. BLACK+DECKER lists a maximum torque of 230 in-lb, a keyless chuck, variable-speed trigger and 10 screwdriving settings. The battery is integrated into the tool and charges through a jack-plug charger; it is not described as a removable, interchangeable battery pack.

The manufacturer claims more than 200 holes and more than 400 screws per charge. Those are manufacturer figures, not independent comparative test results. Detail sander and drill/sander kit
The REVCMS12C detail sander has a triangular base intended for detail sanding. In the US drill-and-sander kit listing, BLACK+DECKER pairs it with the REVCDD12C and claims more than 30 minutes of runtime per charge for the sander. Runtime will depend on the task and conditions; the cited listing does not establish a universal working-time result. REVCOM12C oscillating multi-tool
The US REVCOM12C is listed for cutting, sanding, scraping and grinding. It has a tool-free accessory lever and built-in battery. The included items listed by BLACK+DECKER are blades, a scraper, sanding platen and sandpaper. Its page claims more than 30 minutes of runtime per charge. The bottle-equivalent recycled-content wording on that page is inconsistent, so it is not a reliable basis for a product-specific count.
Other listed tools
The US Reviva collection includes a hand vacuum and hammer drill as well as the tools above. It also lists a washable replacement filter for dustbuster AdvancedClean and Reviva-series hand vacuums. Match any replacement filter to the exact vacuum model rather than assuming all filters fit across the range. The official BLACK+DECKER Reviva collection is the reference for current US product identities.

What should you check before choosing one?
- Match the tool to the job. The drill/driver is for household drilling and screwdriving; the detail sander, jigsaw and oscillating multi-tool address different cutting, sanding or scraping tasks.
- Check the exact regional model. UK and US listings may use different model codes or voltage labels. Confirm the local listing, accessories and replacement-part compatibility.
- Consider the battery arrangement. The REVCDD12C has an integrated battery and jack-plug charger, rather than a removable pack that can be swapped between tools.
- Use runtime claims as manufacturer guidance. The drill’s hole and screw counts and the sander and multi-tool runtime statements are company claims; they are not independent guarantees for a particular project.
- Review service details separately. The cited pages do not establish current region-specific warranty terms, replacement-part availability or service options.
What is known about recycling the tools at end of life?
In its October 2022 US announcement, Stanley Black & Decker described a TerraCycle relationship for end-of-life recycling. The cited pages do not establish the program’s current geographic scope or whether a particular Reviva model is eligible. The UK Reviva page says the internal battery design enables easy removal when a tool is ready for recycling and that battery and end-of-life tool recycling programs were being developed. Before disposing of a tool or battery, verify current local instructions and eligibility with the manufacturer or program operator.
