Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe best Midea refrigerator or freezer is the model that fits your kitchen or storage space, holds what your household uses, and offers features you will actually rely on. Start with exact installation dimensions and clearances; then compare layout, usable capacity, and model-specific details such as water, ice, energy use, and garage temperature limits. The examples below use Midea US specifications accessed October 8, 2026—not independent test results.
Start with the installation space
Measure the opening’s width, height, and depth, then account for the refrigerator’s door swing, drawers, delivery route, and the clearances required by its installation documents. A cabinet opening that fits the case may still leave too little room for doors or drawers to open fully. Check the exact model’s manual and installation requirements before ordering.
Midea sells both standard-depth and counter-depth refrigerators. Counter-depth models are designed to align more closely with standard kitchen counters, but that description does not replace checking the model’s actual dimensions. For instance, Midea lists the standard-depth MRF32I6BST at 35.8 inches wide, 33.7 inches deep, and 69.9 inches high; use the current product page and installation documents for the model under consideration.
Choose a refrigerator layout around how you use it
Midea’s US refrigerator lineup includes French-door, side-by-side, top-freezer, bottom-freezer, and compact models. Layout affects how fresh and frozen food is organized and how much clearance doors need. Think about which compartment your household opens most, whether wide doors can swing freely, and whether shelves and bins suit the items you store.

- Side-by-side: Fresh and frozen food occupy separate vertical compartments. Check whether the narrower compartments work for the containers and trays you use.
- Top- or bottom-freezer: These put frozen food above or below the fresh-food compartment. Choose based on which items you want at a more convenient height.
- Compact: Consider these where the space or storage need is smaller; verify the precise dimensions and capacity of the specific model.
Compare usable capacity, not just the model name
Marketing names round capacity, so compare the listed total with the refrigerator and freezer portions. Midea’s current US specifications for two French-door examples, accessed in 2026, show how the split differs:
| Model and configuration | Listed total capacity | Refrigerator capacity | Freezer capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| MRF32I6BST, standard-depth French door | 31.7 cu. ft. (marketed as 32 cu. ft.) | 21.8 cu. ft. | 9.9 cu. ft. |
| MRF27I6BST, counter-depth French door | 26.5 cu. ft. (marketed as 27 cu. ft.) | 18.2 cu. ft. | 8.3 cu. ft. |
These are manufacturer-published model specifications, not independently measured usable-volume comparisons. Consider the split alongside your shopping habits: a household with substantial frozen-food storage needs may value freezer space differently from one that mostly stores fresh food.
Check water, ice, connectivity, and energy details model by model
Features vary across Midea models, so do not assume a refrigerator has a dispenser, Wi-Fi, or a particular energy designation just because another model does. The MRF32I6BST and MRF27I6BST pages list Water2Ways, including a 54-ounce AutoFill pitcher and manual dispenser, plus dual ice production of up to 5 pounds per day. Those are manufacturer specifications for those models, not a general promise for the lineup.
Midea lists the MRF32I6BST as ENERGY STAR and gives its annual energy consumption as 714 kWh/year. For any candidate, check its current product page and EnergyGuide rather than applying that figure to another model or predicting savings against a different refrigerator. Midea’s category guidance says freezer energy efficiency depends on model, size, and use; it also notes that chest freezers often retain cold air better when opened. That general guidance is not a guaranteed result for every unit.

When a standalone freezer makes sense
A separate freezer can add room for bulk purchases, meal preparation, or longer-term frozen storage. Before choosing one, consider capacity, access, defrost method, baskets or shelves, and the conditions where it will operate. Chest and upright designs trade access and organization differently; compare the specific model’s features rather than assuming every freezer in a category is alike.
For a garage or basement, verify the exact model’s ambient-temperature limits and installation requirements. “Garage-ready” is not a universal operating guarantee across Midea’s lineup. In Midea’s own product pages, the convertible MRU21C7BWW is described as garage-ready, while the MRU21F5BWW page lists outside-temperature ranges; consult the relevant manual for the complete conditions.
Two convertible upright freezers to compare
These Midea US model examples illustrate different approaches to conversion. Figures and features below come from the manufacturer’s pages accessed in 2026 and are not independent performance findings.
| Model | Capacity stated by Midea | Conversion and controls | Operating-space information |
|---|---|---|---|
| MRU21C7BWW, 50/50 Flex 3-Way | 20 cu. ft. total, with 10 cu. ft. in each compartment | Can operate as all freezer, all refrigerator, or both at once; four cooling levels for refrigerator and freezer modes. Midea describes SmartHome app controls for cooling adjustment, energy monitoring, and self-diagnostics. | Marketed as garage-ready; verify the manual against the planned space. |
| MRU21F5BWW | Product title says 21 cu. ft.; feature section states 21.1 cu. ft. | Switches between freezer and refrigerator modes. | Midea lists an outside-temperature range of 38°F to 110°F in refrigerator mode and 0°F to 110°F in freezer mode. Check the manual for full installation conditions. |
Midea calls the MRU21C7BWW “the only product of its kind that can be all freezer, all fridge, or both at the same time.” That is the manufacturer’s exclusivity claim, not an independently verified market-wide comparison. The practical question is whether its compartment arrangement and app features suit your storage needs.
