Start with the deck and the exposed side
Think of the half deck as the functional anchor: it can hold the pool entry, steps, and a compact place to sit. The remaining perimeter does not need to be covered or disguised. Stepping stones
Use stepping stones where they make the route easier to see and walk. Set them along a natural path from the yard to the deck rather than creating a tight loop that interferes with access. Choose placement and surface materials with the pool’s actual site conditions in mind.

Lighting
Prioritize the steps, walking route, and edges people need to see after dark. Check drainage before finishing the landscape
Drainage deserves particular attention if the pool is partly buried or the site has a low side. A Stealth Pools quick-reference guide says a pool that is half in the ground and half out should have adequate drainage on the low side (Stealth Pools guide). That condition is not implied by having a half deck alone. Preserve existing drainage, follow the instructions for the specific pool, and get qualified help if the site’s slope or drainage is difficult to assess.
