Australian furniture and homewares retailer GIGI&TOM announced in January 2025 that it was closing after three years. The company said it had struggled to secure continued investment in the prevailing business environment. At the time, it said it was not entering administration and would fulfil orders until stock ran out; that announcement does not confirm whether the sale, stock, order fulfilment or returns are available now.
What GIGI&TOM announced
PerthNow reported on 16 January 2025 that GIGI&TOM had announced it was closing. The company’s statement, as quoted by the outlet, said: “It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you we are closing our business GIGI&TOM.” It also said the decision had not been easy and thanked customers for their support over the previous three years. PerthNow’s report
The company attributed the decision to the unpredictable path of entrepreneurship and difficulty securing continued investment in the prevailing business environment. That is the explanation given in its announcement; the available sources do not include independently verified financial statements or a fuller analysis of the reasons for closure.
What the company said about administration, orders and the final sale
At the time of the announcement, the report said the company was not going into administration, would fulfil orders placed until stock ran out, and planned a final closing-down sale. These were statements about its intentions at that time, not confirmation of current operations.
